Thank you for this very informative procedure. I'm planning on doing this to my RCI 2950 DX radio. Channel selector is very temperamental. Very touchy. Barly touch it and it want to change channels. Again thank you. 😊

I only understood 86% of what you said but good video trying to refurbish a switch from a microwave.

Great video! I have a TenTec Omni VII that seems to have had similar encoder issues. I was able to disassemble mine and do roughly the same repair, but to remove the corrosion I used a scratch pen for the feelers and traces. Seemed to work really well!

I had one of these encoders that lost the indentations when turning it. Taking it apart further by removing the disc reveals a spring and ball bearing that rides in notches. The nylon contracted enough to jam the ball inside of it. Cleaning the hole for the bearing and filing it out a bit fixed the issue.

Mike, What size screws do you use for that? M1? I don't have anything that small and need to buy a kit.

You could use a pencil eraser to clean the disk and contacts.

I have checked R & R Communications and don't find anything listed for RCI 2990, can you provide a part number for the replacement .

Does this repair work for an RCI 2980 wx? Mine won't tune channel 8 unless I wedge a dime under the know, at the top . All other channels are fine. Thanks for any help. Jim
