I am discussing a 1916 s mercury dime that is in approximately AU condition and it does not have fully split middle bands. The other two, top and bottom are fully split. The middle bands are not fully split, and that is what hurts the value being higher for this coin. Collecting fully split bands is what I used to do when I would visit the coin shops and coin shows. I still look for them now whenever I attends shows or coin shops. I have come accross the coveted 1916 d mercury dime and I saw it, but I could not afford it. It was nice looking it over. There were 10,450,000 of the 1916 s dimes minted compared to only 264,000 of the 1916 d mercury dimes minted. So collecting mercury dimes is an enjoyable past time for senior collectors.

I like these coins that pre-date the use of Presidents on the obverse, and instead represented the country. Per WikiPedia, the Winged Cap symbolizes Liberty of Thought. Kind of a nice concept.

Hi Stax! You have good taste in your coins and seeing the lady on the mercury dime is refreshing to me as well. Thanks for watching the video.
