Thanks for the video, my canaries are mating but my female doesn't put her nesting material in the nest, she just drops it near the front of the cage. I have the nest in the rear corner, what can I do?
Yes she may not be ready yet. You could try to move the nest and see if that helps. Sometimes the males if they are inexperienced will move the nesting material back out of the nest.
@@birdnerd she started laying eggs in the nest but has not fully built her nest, it does seem that the male is inexperienced and taking the material out, should I separate the male or just leave him in there with her?

It could be that she is young and not quite ready to breed yet. Sometimes I put some of the nesting material in the nest to spark their interest and then they start building.

Chris started late this year.
Mine started later in the season due to my lighting schedule that I have for my other birds.
