The little red roosters are looking good Glyn.. It's nice not to have to many, and you have more time to see and enjoy the birds, instead of just running from one to the next. I learnt this when I cut down many years ago.
It's all about starting with good stock birds that carry the red gene buy from a known top breeder, look at his adult birds. You will know what the young will turn out like 👍

No matter what I try i get medium red/orange not bright red. Please advise.

I just searched online for something that would fit my cages, they are actually cage floors cut to fit.
