Dave, should the tip of the stylus protrude above the plastic or sit inside of the "V"? I was hoping you would have turned it sideways so we could have seen that.

It sits INSIDE/BELOW the top plastic piece...never above it.

I have the original gauge that came with my TD-125/TP-16. I normally align the cart using the Thorens gauge. I recently obtained a Thorens Baerwald Protractor. When checking the cartridge on the protractor, after aligning with the gauge, the stylus is several mm shy at the second null point on the arc. The scale reference on the protractor is dead on 200 mm as claimed.

Dave, does it matter which type of cartridge you can use on the TD 145? (moving coil or moving magnet). I currently have a brand new Ortofon 2M Black cartridge and am looking at TD 145 deck. Thanks 😊

Hi Dave, I could use this on my TD 125 MKII instead of a Precision Mirror Cartridge Alignment Protractor? And does it matter what Headshell I have?

I’m I to understand that this takes care of the vertical tracking alignment?

The side view gives you the height adjustment if you need to add shims.

Is the cartridge alignment gauge, replacing the protractor method for alignment?

      Yes

What would you recommend as better/more precise method? Gauge or protractor? (Protractor is cost wise more interesting)

One thing to remember is you have to square or centre your cartridge to the line that has the cut out for the needle placement.

I have just ordered one of these gauges but they are not cheap for just a piece of plastic.
