WHAT'S WRONG!? Mystery with My Ferrari SF90

- There might be a hiccup with my Ferrari SF90! It's a 500 mile journey from Strasbourg, France back to @TheShmuseum to bring the 1,000hp supercar safely back to base. You'll be surprised by the fuel economy figures, and plenty of updates along the way.
For the final day of the SF90 winter tour, we're setting off from the same stop as the destination of the first leg, in Strasbourg, France with a journey taking us via the famous circuit of Reims-Gueux. The tour has taken us to Italy, into the snow of the mountains, and all meanwhile with no issues running the paint-matched roof box up top.
Along the way, let's talk about the cleaning of the SF90 at Incute in Zurich, the incredibly impressive fuel economy achieved by the hybrid system despite being a 1,000hp V8 supercar, and what could be the future plans for the Blu Elettrico roof box. It's a long slog of around 500 miles / 800km to get home to the UK from France, to finish off this exceptional Eurotour.
SPOILER: The issue in question seems to have gone away already! I've been receiving a very minor error message on the dash; "Passenger E-latch Failure", which hasn't brough any unusual symptoms but anyway, I'm very, very happy with how well it has performed during such a trip.
Thanks for watching, Tim

Beautifully done sir. Quite awesome to see these machines getting some touring done. Amazing stop at the old raceway. What a nod. Thank you Shmee150!!!
Hey shmee i love your videos, your voice is so pleasant to hear, so calming and your explanation on automobiles are so detail. I just hope u would upload more as i have finished binge watching literally all of your videos 😅
Hi Shmee, Morocco is only a 35min ferry from the south of Spain.
On the train us truck drivers travel in a train carriage at the front.... enjoyed this trip...SF90 on the snow... brilliant.
Tim, I’ve had a couple odd faults with my SF90 spider. One that occurred only once while rolling down the drivers side window. The other is related to Bluetooth connectivity with my iPhone and is entirely random. Anyway, it’s been great to watch your journey. I agree that this car is incredibly comfortable to drive. In fact, it’s my favorite to drive among the Ferrari’s I own, including my F8 and Portofino M. Cheers!
bluetooth problems are usually phone problems or just that are not fully compatible.
I’ve also had a couple of weird ones with my SF90 spider. The fuel filler cap keeps opening on its own. Usually about ten minutes after I’ve dropped the roof
How many other people watching this have an SF90 other than you two?😅
@@bg22757 Was thinking the same. 😂
@@Kxji not you then?
That's quite good for the performance that you get out of the car and it's awesome the total spec of that car. I would love to see how they would detail that car after a trip that you've had. Glad you've had a good n safe trip.
It needs a full inside out overhaul
@@Shmee150 detail vid back at the Shmuseum please.
Just so you know Shmee, if you go past the first click on the fuel pump, you start to fill up your filler neck rather than your tank, and you have fuel sitting where it's not supposed to be. (this has actually caused some of them high value car fires you hear about spontaneously combusting on drives before).
I'll say, being an 80's kid watching my favorite movie "Better off dead" seeing an unconventional yet beautiful car run up the snow and slopes makes me super happy. I'm having a hard time finding a roof rack for my 2016 mini clubman without rails. I'm DYING to get a roof set up because I absolutely love the look of it. Growing up in Mammoth Mountain I always love seeing unconventional cars with roof rails.
Looks so beautiful! It actually looks mega with the roof rack!
Shmee150 Great Video I'm glad you made it home safely and that your SF90 Stradale made it through the Entire Winter Eurotour without any problems and I can't wait to what your plans are for your Zenvo TSR-S
The SF90 looks amazing in Blue Electrico with the roof box to match, in the sunshine! Living the dream Tim!
Really didnt like the SF90 when it came out , am now a massive fan what an epic thing! Thanks Tim👍
Best looking Ferrari in years. I always hated the stretched out front lights that cars like the 458, Lusso and such. The only car is looked good on was the F12, though the F12s are a lot less stretched and closer to the look of the 599 which I love.
@@dyent personally the back of the car is hideous and kind of ruins the whole thing.
@@bg22757 Im afraid I have to disagree with you on that one! What is it you dislike about it? The diffuser is the only questionable thing about it in my opinion, its height makes the back of the car look a little disproportional, but seeing a black one changed how I saw it - I realised that it was intended to look resemble the aero of an F1 car.
You should have a look at the Mansory version, it's insane.
I'm still not a fan of the looks it looks like a brontosaurus from the front
The rear of it and some other newer Ferraris is strange to me, I much prefer the design of 458, 488 and 812 over SF90, F8 and 296.
Having to fill up the car at every petrol station is annoying even if you are rich, so using less fuel is always great. That mpg was really good.
Especially if you are rich as time is money. This is why luxury cars would benefit the most from hybrids or electrification
Just epic content!
Love the SF90, what a car in a jaw dropping color!
Always good to see you home safe.
You are living the dream Tim. Cheers!!!
Love the SF90! What a machine!!
I have the "walk away locking/unlocking doors" too and i think it's an awesome thing!
Fantastic winter content. Very excited for Zenvo content coming up.
U look exhausted mate, good video, take care
Can't wait to see the sf90, 296 and purosange nurburgring trip
Lots of fun ahead!
@@Shmee150 swatch 150 moonswatch update video coming soon?
It's fundamentally aerodynamic & tuned for Euro6 compliance at lo rpm. Good to hear some info on the general fuel efficiency & general environmental responsibility of the fleet
Am I the only one that notices Tim’s sweater is getting shorter and shorter in this trip! 🤔😂✌️ good euro trip, more city driving please with your awesome cars
You can always wrap the roof box a different color and keep the blue under it. Just a thought.
The e-latch fault was probably a temporary temperature related issue.
Another great video, FYI, truck drivers on the eurotunnel don't stay in their cabs on the train, once parked in the train they get a shuttle bus to a passenger carriage at the front for the duration of the journey.
17mpg was about my average over 4yrs in my 750bhp bmw M5. I did use all of the performance each time I drove it though. Was impressive on a run.
I'm over here in the US and I've got a 2008 Ford Taurus X station wagon as a daily and a 1992 Nissan March as a weekend car. I find it interesting that the Ferrari falls right in between the two with fuel economy. I see about 27 - 30 mpg in the March and 19 - 23 mpg from the Taurus. 65k miles on the March and 247k on the Taurus.
A trip to morroco would be awesome ! nice video as always !
Oh man the v10 of the R8 sounded like heaven.
it has cylinder deactivation, so its essentially a 4 cyinder on motorways and when you're crusing at below 2-3k rpm prob, like the hurrican does, it turns off half the engine,. plus the electric power part has contributed. so it makes sence
Super efficient!
Greta to see a car like that getting used and not just sat in a garage, could be damp on sensors causing the issue you've had, my own car has been giving me some strange messages on the dash around the ebrake and auto hold, a bit of research is pointing to an issue with the reversing camera caused by damp, so may electrical systems interacting with each other.
We were in Morocco last week and saw a Ferrari California T and an Aventador. I think you could make a trip there work. Lots of French and Spanish licensed cars there. We only saw one Tesla so I don’t think an electric car might be happy there. We’re in Tunisia now which honestly might be a great spot as well for a Schmee-adventure. Big open roads with lots to see
Deep Pearl Blue is my 2022 Nissan Maxima Platinum, 300 horsepower very light very quick, the front looks like the SF90, Love it can’t stop driving it! Miles of Smiles, I’ve had it a year and it has fifteen thousand miles on it already.
Cheers for the video 📹
I always switch to rubber mats for every day use. Most factories offer them or the best are from Weathertech that sponsor the IMSA races in the US.
I watch quite a few car related producers on You Tube, I sense your honesty, morality & frivolity:::::…..✨🌟⭐️😇 THIS IS MY SALUTE TO YOU FOR YOUR PASSION:.
I chanced upon your journey via Supercar Blondie I think, and totally love how You Tube guides you to relevant content, thus expanding one’s knowledge, Bravo dear boy, keep doing what you’re doing.
Rest assured that your genuine, kind Heart is being watched over by Angels, long May you reign..!!😁😁
Peace & Love from Sheffield, England ☮️💜🕉
One thing I can appreciate about getting good fuel mileage is that it's less time I have to spend at the gas station or looking for one.
Very few big marks on the PPF
Top box restricting the topspeeds you can drive, which probably means softer acceleration
That might be the reason for such impressive mpg...
Same road trip with no top box and you'd lose at least 5mpg (as you'd have a heavier right foot)
Great journey, I enjoyed it!
Regarding the fuel efficiency: Ferrari has done a lot of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and wind tunnel engineering to make the SF90 very aerodynamic with a low drag coefficient. The hybrid power unit has also had a significant role in fuel efficiency. Yes, the unit is capable of 1000 hp, but you drove it in the most fuel saving way. Partially because of government regulations modern cars need to have set fuel economy. You drove the car in this exact perfect speed range. Obviously driving in electric mode helped significantly. Something else to consider: A powerful engine pushing a car though the air at a relaxed pace is more efficient than a small engine struggling at high rpm to do the same job. 😊
You’re very much welcome to Morocco. Such a beautiful country
I did 10k km in my sf90 in one year. i have been to nurburgring (same day as you) I have made a small euro trip from monaco to lugano to stelvio to munich to Warsaw back home all together with my wife 9 days of fantastic trip. no failures there but some time later i had hybrid drivetrain failure and my entire electric engines pumps etc was replaced under warranty. car had other small issues but most of them i was able to fix by restarting 12v battery. totally agree: no garage Queen. fantastic car to drive, to own and to have.
I love that, thanks for sharing the story!
You're very welcome to visit my beautiful country morocco🇲🇦 we love you tim❤️❤️
Shmee come to Eastern Europe, I promise to organize track day that would be no different from Nurburgring and that could be your craziest travel video on the channel up to date :)
For the manufacturer I work for, the delay on fuel release, is to allow venting. Presumably to get rid of the 'whoosh' of fuel vapour from the pressurised tank.
Hello mate. Truckdrivers also have to get in their train's passenger cab.. they get picked up by a bus to get to the front train cab.. we call it stinky express😅
Love the content keep up the good work
I'm still surprised that some skis and poles and boots didn't get packed into that roof box. I certainly looked like they could have fit, though perhaps the jackets and other outer-wear required might have made it too tight.
I don't think he skis anymore since he injured his back a few years ago ⛷
WE ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR ROAD TRIP CONTENT, IN ONE OF THE SHMEEMOBILES ‼️💯‼️
Love watching the road trips 👌
Glad you enjoyed
No idea if it's possible but another crazy idea would be to drive one of these insane cars with a trailer for a road trip.
That would need a towbar, that would be virtually impossible on most cars like this, they need to be mounted on structure thats very strong, it would also need body work alterations and the electrics would need fitting. For most road cars which have them, they have specially designed products, they wont have for supercars..
Gonna need that ski box for Gumball Europe!!!!
Good evening Shmee 150 absolutely loving your videos. Keep up the fantastic work very interesting on the C63S AMG really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for your videos.
Thank you so much for the kind words and support
I do prefer your videos on a European road trip than in the states,
Tim, that box would looks sweet on top of my blue HHR.
Great mileage even with winter tires.
Great video
I did 200 miles in my 718 GT4 and got 39 mpg. Mostly motorway though with few stops and starts.
On your next road trip, I dare you to lose the roof box and take a caravan !🤔🤣✌️
I thought i remembered hearing that you were no longer allowed to stop at the old F1 grandstand anymore? obviously that's no longer the case but i was sure it was at one point, maybe it was just something like no photo shoots?
Just to inform you. Us truckers don't stay in our cabs on the euro tunnel. We have to get out onto a mini bus to a passenger carriage while crossing.
Hey Tim, when's the next project car coming?
Man i envy you, beeing able to have all those cars at just 35. God damn
I saw you at st moritz at the ice event you were filming the new maserati granturismo i wanted to say you hi but since you were working i didnt want to disturb you 🤗
Yes please drive to morraco with gt black series in the summer to tangier and marrakesh they have alot of supercars
You can use the ski box on other cars but just have it wrapped to match whatever car it’s going on
British problems.
Why don't you get a set of Black Floor Mats for winter? Or some of those clear rubber matts?
Need to be driven no garage queens! Respect Shmee!
I seen you lurking in Italy with Varnyx
Tim..... Your presence in totally needed at he International Amsterdam Motor Show this coming April ( pref april the 9 th LOL ) My son ( with Autism..all so named Tim) would LOVE to meet YOU!!!
Petrol kiosk indeed the door is low, but you also had lot of room on the left side as well 😂
Awesome trip report. Maybe just a wrap instead of painting it every time??
is that with both hybrid and electric only power or is it solely ICE fuel economy
FYI, the trucks park on the train and then the drivers get bused to a passenger carriage for the crossing.
Didn't know this, thanks for the comment
My golf 6R gets over 12 liters per 100 km and can barely do over 400km on 50 liters so whenever I get it to 11 I start to think if something is wrong with it haha. So yeah, seeing a 1000hp Ferrari do 12s makes me kinda sad, knowing that my 270hp s box costs me more to run
so your thinking that without the roofbox that the sf90 would have better fuel economy then the focus ?
The Senna should have its own long road trip
Found your spot Tim. Took a while have to say. Won't say exactly how, but shall we say a really short stretch nearby that's almost only 'over the top'. If I was you mate, I'd check pre-upload for location gimmies and scrub them out discreetly and just not record there, just be a bit more mindful of it mate if your worried (I see a label arrived then disappeared on Google Maps). Maybe ask the lads to lift the gravel off the entrance by the main road, save picking any of that up on the way in with warm tyres ;).
Not really important but regarding trucks and the euro tunnel. We actually don’t stay in our cabs, we ate picked up by minibus and taken up the front of the train where there is seats abs vending machines. From stopping on the train and starting your engine to get off the other side we only just get our 45 minute break to clear our driving time.
I have a C8 Corvette with a 6.2L V8. I got 4.2L/100km from Kamloops, British Columbia to Hope, British Columbia (206km). Yes you read that right, 56MPG. How? It's 1000ft downhill from Kamloops to Hope, but still, amazing! It's locked in the car's trip computer, so I can prove it to people. Lol!
This car in black looks🔥
i would love to see u in morroco feel free to give it a try it's gonna be so mush fun (Harry's garage : drove his ferrari testarossa all the way to the sahara desert i'm sur u could do it
Paint match the roof box to your original Aston and let it live there until you need it again. It would be a cool sight in the background of the videos the Aston with the roof box
That roof box must have hit economy a fair bit. On trips to the Alps I get 30mpg from my McLaren. Much less on the mountain roads, countered by 33mpg cruising at 130kph for hundreds of km.
Any updates or adventures with the C63 Black sitting behind you?
@@docpj9665 He was so keen on a Black Series collection, I would be surprised if he got rid of it unless he really had to.
Doesnt it hurt the engine cold starting it on the move and getting revs straight away without warming up?
You'd think so, I try to avoid it normally, but I presume that if this is the standard behaviour in normal mode, that it must be fine
All modern cars should be driven straight away from start up but low revs, the reason is because there’s more wear on the engine internals when cold and the quicker you get them up to normal operating temperatures the better,by using only low revs will make sure the pistons and cylinder walls heat up at around the same temp/ time
#Shmee150 it drives 410km/48.48L=8.4km/L thats around the same as my Subaru Forester SH 2.0 AWD (without turbo) in the city. How is it if you do it on summertyres the mpgs
Man I love his SF90
It's such an epic car
Tim I watched your video on the c63 this morning I found it really interesting. Don't take away the heart of the car. Hope you are well.
Are you ever doing a Norway tour?
Tim, could you consider a video with all your cars "full send" on a race track or something? We haven't seen the SF 90 or any other, giving the full juice out of it
You might haven't seen his Nurburgring drive content
Since he already drove SF90 hard on that track
do you even know what it cost to put a car on the track, if you want to be able to sell it again..
tires oil change and so on, if its a car you want to keep.. (the tires you use on your vw polo does not match)
and giving a expensive car the full juice is not something a investor would do, to much risk..
a investor will drive it to norway with a roofbox on it 🥸
Beautiful spec shmee. Love it
Thank you very much
My 4 cylinder hyundai sonata gets 24 mpg avg lol. Good on Ferrari for pulling that off
Wait, how are MPGs in the UK different from the US. Isn't a mile still a mile and a gallon still a gallon?
Nice!
Wow that looks so cool ❤ i need one of Those
how are the seats on long journeys? did you order the comfort seats or the daytona?
Imo hybrids are the way rather than fully electric. Best of both worlds less pollution for built up areas
It's probably true
Pretty sure the reason it is so efficient is that i5 uses a hybrid system similar to ERS in f1
Hey shmee as soon as you head back to London please make some zenvo content
I guess we know what's coming next
Couldn't you get the Roof Box wrapped if you wanted to use it for other vehicles?
