    Another awesome video Frozen! Thanks for all that you do in creating these for your subscribers. I've been a long time subscriber and I must say that they keep getting better all the time. I hope you will continue to keep your signature soundtrack background music and I love that twang tone to signify the start of a new day. I've gotta take a hiking/backpacking trip up to the Keystone State someday. Thanks again and Happy Trails!

      Thanks for watching Steve, One of the reasons I film these trips was because I really wanted to get into video editing. It's a monster and I've only begun to understand techniques. I'll definitely keep my home grown music in all my videos. I hope to get some time this year and sit down and add some more.

      28lbs base weight? Bring boots if you aren't already. The trail has some rocks that can and will mess your ankles up. How many days you doing? My first thru hike of the area i stepped on the trail with 41 pounds. did 6 days 5 nights but I had boots.

    I feel bad for Meerkat, seems he really pushed himself this trip, and then getting attacked by a dog on top of it. Never heard of the IT band before this channel, definitely something to be cautious about. Maybe it would make for a good beginner video, some preventative exercises or treatments for soreness and tendon health.

    I glad that you decided to make this video! Good color and I personally like how the Sony keeps some of the wind noise in to keep it real. Some of my viewers hate wind noise, but it adds what we actually experience when hiking. Sorry for the bad luck with gear failing. My mini tripod broke on my last trip. No to Gary!! LOL Excellent Video! Bob

      PS 2. I love my platypus gravity filter!
      Question for you: how is your Arc Haul working out? How much weight did you carry? I'm using my Atmos 50 - awesome suspension but heavy. The Exos just doesn't fit me due to non adjustable torso length. I'm contemplating a Zpack or ULA to shed another pound or so, but not sure how the Zpack handles 30ish lbs at the beginning of a trip or resupply.

    Love it !! Love it !! Love it !! I am glad to see you doing some video NOT solo !! Interaction with others is GOOD !!! My introduction to multi-night backpacking was on this trail last year when my friend and I did from Mile 11 to Mile 31 in two nights. I was sick with bronchitis and with not exactly being a fine physical specimen anyway, damn near died a few times. LOL !! I still had a blast, though. Hey..... it seemed to be a lot clearer on your hike than mine..... they say that at the overlook that you were at at 48:09 in your video, that you can see the Pittsburgh skyline on a clear day. That would be right before Cranberry Glade Lake on your hike. Did you get to experience that? Anyway.... thanks for the video. It's so neat to see stuff that I got to see on my hike from your perspective. I'll see YOU on the trail !!

    I saw the part about your sawyer filter failing on you. With my two kids and I all having issues with our sawyers (because we kept overtightening (probably not a word) the unit on the bottles and breaking the rubber washers!!! aaahhh!!! We had to go to a gravity system and I have a platypus gravity works now and love it!!!! We put the carbon filtration inline with the main filter and it takes out any funky flavors from puddle water if needed! I think it is a bit heavier but way more reliable for us:) So far my 13 year old twin boys and I have hiked Route 31 to griddle ridge and back, Route 30 to turnpike and back (with added trails in day two to explore beam rock, and I have winter hiked the ohiopyle section and back. We have a trip planned in july for the route 271 to route 56 and back planned. My hope is to build the kids to handle a 5-6 day through hike of the entire LHHT. I really appreciate you gear reviews as it helped us fix my son's hammock issues. We originally got him a hennessey and it did not work for him due to condensation issues and hanging issues, so we returned to to REI and exchanged it for a Eno housefly tarp, I then ordered him a Warbonnet blackbird XLC 1.2. We used some hardware from dutch ware and a snake skin to make his tarp easy to deploy and hang. My other son camps in a tent if shelters are not an option, and I have a zpacks triplex if it gets really stupid we can all jump into. thanks for the videos, they help us keep adventuring!!!!

    Enjoyed the hike and especially the scenery in the latter part of the video. Hopefully, the Penguins can bounce back from their loss to Ottawa and the Preds can go ahead and take out the Ducks. Would love to see a Preds/Penguins Stanley Cup although I'm not sure anyone wants to play the Preds right now. Smashville is now 9-2 in the playoffs. Go Preds!

    Can you do a video on packing the continuous ridge line, tarp and sleeve in the wheel shape and where is the small ridgeline organizer from as I seem to only find super long ones?

    • @FrozensAdventures

      So hammock gear is actually making me a new tarp because they messed up the cat cut it. So it will be a couple weeks until I get it. But yes I will make a video about it. I actually have a couple requests revolving around the tarp. The continuous ridge-line is from hammock gear and you can find it here: www.hammockgear.com/accessories/

    hi🌷great to c u out there! Do u like hiking as a group with pals or solo?
    I tried a new hammock & very cool, no underquilt, I had a big old long oversized down puffy & lined the inside of hammock w/cheap fold up pad & Lrg long coat, worked pretty well, finally got a cheap full Amazon underquilt, just hang it to both ends of hammock, no directions!? What did u do w/ur wet underquilt ? hang & dry when nice but what happens if it rains for three days? wet sucks out there! They say synthetic still helps against cold wet but down does nothing! Cotton kills!, my X never wore anything but jeans but he didn’t hike w/wet jeans either, he’ll learn!!!
    He won’t listen, he’ll pay for being stubborn some day & wish he’d had listened! Keep up the good work, there’s a British gloak that does a lot of camping, filming round there, in the wet highlands! 😊🐾

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  Před 2 lety

      I prefer solo. I'm slower than most hiking (especially while filming). The down in most cottage vendors quilts are made of a hydrophobic down, so getting wet doesn't mean it's useless. Just dry it at the end of each trip in the dryer (no heat!)

    Why is it that you guys use bright color bear bags? I would think this is the one place you would use a camo bag, so it would be a little harder for the bears to notice it.

    • @FrozensAdventures
      @FrozensAdventures  Před 5 lety

      Bears can't get your bag if you hang it correctly. I use bright colors because sometimes that's the only color/material option available in the weight and capacity I want also sometimes I wake up really early and the last thing I want to do is look for a camo bag in a tree in dark, rain and foggy weather.
