    Welcome to salt water. Make sure and run a salt neutralizer.

    Thanks for sharing. I have a question, hope you don't mind. When you have the over heating problem, before you did the repair, was there water coming our of the telltale at all?
    Thanks.

    It looks like red rtv on that stabord head. When you tighten the head bolts you need to be careful that it doesn't squeeze into those passages or all your work will have been for nothing.

    Yeah man. Cool video showing that water path. I have 1998 Yamaha 200 Saltwater Series and it truly has treated me well, but I noticed a little bit of salt build up and stuff outside one of the corners of this exact section. It’s at the bottom, actually both bottom corners look to be leaking or have leaked in the past. I brushed off the salt and have just been keeping an eye on it and it hasn’t changed but it had me worried. I feel a little better now seeing your video showing what exactly is behind that cover and what that big square gasket is doing. I suppose all I have going on in a leak or old leak that stopped in those bottom corners. Any advice? Besides seeing the leak build up evidence which I haven’t seen come back, there are no symptoms or overheating. Was it a long job taking that water jacket plate off? Did you have to remove the heads to get to it? Thanks bro!

      Hey, if you’re not overheating you should not have to worry, just flush it with fresh water after every saltwater use. Thanks for looking and asking.
      Love your Yamaha!

    Good video but I have questions, obviously you run in salt water do you flush it after each usage? Not to insult, I flush every time I have a 1999 yamaha, salt water is so bad

      It depends on how bad it is. Take a peak on thermostat housing.

    I have 94 Mercury 150 over heating after changed water pump and thermostat, poppet valve. And new gaskets lol n heads still over heating,,,. Need help

    • @Iwasyou-youwereme
      @Iwasyou-youwereme  Před 2 měsíci

      Replacing the gasket alone is not enough you need to do a deep cleaning of all water passages.

    ok i just learned something from you. I have taken off my heads twice. in 4 years and cleaned them up and the water jackets as well. Runs good and doesnt over heat UNLESS i go slow(low RPM around 4-5 MPH) for too long during the day then it still over heats. I bet its that middle part. Brilliant. Nice work. I'm gonna do that job next. thanks!!!
    hope you dont mind if i post my video on here. I did the job as you can see on this video of mine but i missed that middle part which seems to be the most important part bc its where the water comes in. I bet mine is built up with crud also. czcams.com/video/e9Lyc27Q7BA/video.html. im also going to post your video on my page if you dont mind so people can see how to do the whole thing correctly.

      I took my exhaust cover off the other day and it was covered in Salt residue. Also , broke 9 bolts and had to break the inner exhaust plate off as well as exhaust cover. Damn corrosion. Great clip.

      If its overheating at idle or slow speed this is usually just a thermostat issue

    there are many points at which this stupid yamaha engine has obvious faults. the temp alarm is one of the worst so far and no matter how much you know qbout engines the bastards always come up with new ways to do you over. f#@k ysmaha and f$#k their product. they should know better. damned them to hell
