I'm getting the distinct impression that when you give engineers unlimited budgets they start behaving like architects
HERESY
I can't even like this because it's on 69 likes
Engineers are just architects with a budget
@@DomenBremecXCVI lol now it's on 169
How dare you?
in 18:18 - 4th inner road is facing wrong direction (center of the screen)
good eye, adding a comment so this gains traction so he sees it
Bump
STRONEST SHAPE!!!!! (It will get Matt's attention now)
How the heck did you see that? Wow
holy shit
I love how in every episode, Matt makes one great thing and 15 weird ones.
Good reference! 10/10! Alice in wonderland/Through the Looking glass right?
Aw

Starting to get a bit worried about RCE here, these highways kinda look like they were designed by an architect!
I'm pretty sure it's all part of the strongest shape goal
@@DomenBremecXCVI yeah his 2 original roadnados sure are conveniently placed next to each other almost like a pair of something ;)
The optimist says, “The glass is half full.”
The pessimist says, “The glass is half empty.”
The engineer says, “The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.”
Nice
The safety inspector says, “The glass is safely holding the liquid in place with ample room for movement.”
The architect says, "The glass needs better design."
Realist goes: Not gonna get thirsty anytime soon.
and Jesus says: "There's plenty for everyone"
"Those home appliances are too far away..."
Proceeds to build a 100-mile road tornado
I love it
well the new home appliances are closer, he didn't mention anything about the raw materials afterall in that regard ;)
Roadnado! T-shirt coming soon
@@vcprado I support this idea!
😂 Road tornado is brilliant. 😂
From the Inside of the "Cooper Mining Pit", the fourth Ring has a small section of it backwards. Visible at 18:18
There is nothing quite like a space base/city built by an engineer.
*Architect
ah ah ah, a CIVIL engineer
RCE: Maybe it'll be worth making a new electronics and home appliances place, maybe a bit closer
Also RCE: makes a much longer route for the iron
Mwah. Efficiency.
well the electronics and home appliances ARE closer ;) he didn't say anything about the raw materials
@@GummieI true
You need to add a motorway going round to the back of the city so any items that need delivering can cut out all the city traffic
This also helps spread the deliveries across the city rather than have the first two rows take all deliveries
RCE aren't you secretly an Architect because only Architects would design roads to look like a colosseum or roller-coaster road?
Not if the idea is to test structural integrity and safety limits.
@@brigidtheirish How he has them designed is more Architectish than Engineerish
@@alocalpotato Or is he? Duh duh duhhhh!
Naw, he’s just filling out his resume for Lets Game It Out
As an engineer who loves efficiency, you should really switch to Solar. You could triple your production of power using solar in the space of your wind farm
And as cool as your super highways are they severely slow down your production, removing a lot of the benifits of having a second home appliance production
When a engineer gets infinite budget, he becomes an architect
“Built huge road networks.”
Shows two roads that he just continually wrapped around two rocks.
Those are not rocks, they are nuts. As is RCE.
I had a weird dream last night where in that dream I watched an RCE vid where he says "I actually quite like Architecture" I'm glad to be reassured that that was indeed just a dream
A nightmare, that's what it was
Substations are your friend for power distribution. Solar panels with the upgrade are much better than windmills.
the way you deliver these jokes with a (somewhat) straight and steady voice makes these ridiculous highways so much funnier
This game looks awesome! Its like if factorio and city skylines had a child. And im all for it
Districts are mainly used to create export rules. You can create separate districts for different resources and factories and then use the resource buttons in the district tab on the left to export that resource from one district to another specific district so it doesn’t try to send resources across the map backing up traffic. You may have already set up the export rules and know that, but if they don’t have rules for the districts, they will export to anywhere as if they weren’t in a district at all.
Hard to believe a civil engineer would have this much fun with transportation inefficiencies….
The only things holding civil engineers is budget.
nothing like building a civilization from scratch and still using the same automobile-centric infrastructure that requires excessive resources/waste, is in constant need of maintenance/upgrading, doesnt scale well, etc but I guess nobody said this game was trying to be creative outside the novel and totally underutilized setting. Love your content, it's just frustrating that every area in this world is discrete and would only require a handful of rail lines (compared to unfathomable amts of concrete) to provide all the transport infrastructure necessary from initial settlement to thriving spaceport!
I just would love to see the actual most efficient way to plan a settlement if you got to start from scratch but had to work around the limiting factors/challenges of the novel terrain as well as where resources are located vs where the climate/topography/environment is most favorable
This is one of my favorite series on your channel. Pls continue marking these vids!
Architects suck btw
+1
One of my favorite series yet, hope it's a long one!
What is the deal of everyone with the architects?
RCE has obviously been watching lots of Let's Game It Out Videos... Well done sir, well done
Still way less chaotic than Josh tho.
@@FoxSullivan I agree, but how long until it becomes a highway tornado...?
@@FoxSullivan difference being, josh can count. RCE is slapping down massed if high end items without the throughput of precursors to support them.
what an architect thing to trying to calculate the production instead of using the production tab on the left ;-)
The cough when above the fumes got me, that was great
The storage works as a buffer, place it before and after your factories to prevent dead times and minimize bottlenecks. This way you won't need to wait on the next part of the production line to be free.
Also, add 4 laned highways were possible ASAP
This channel brings me joy. I’m about to eat my burger and coleslaw and im chilling in my bed, all of a sudden i see this video and boom, happiness achieved
there's no downside to connecting all your powergrids together. you should do it!
Thank you for your videos. Just bought the game myself, I would never have heard of it without your videos. Rollercoaster highways here I come!
I think you could make these videos a bit longer. I'm always wanting at least 5 - 10 more minutes.
Agreed, this one should have included getting those roads working.
@@notahotshot I fully agree
I love all of RCE's games that he makes videos on and I love to watch them ! But where is TIMBERBONERS ?!!!!!!
I love that no matter which game it is, RCE's default response to any challenge is "MORE!" And it always works out. Whenever I play any sim games like these, if I keep building nonstop I just crash and burn.
OMG it was YOU! Changed employer so I no longer have to drive a lorry into London, bloody new speed limits, restricted timed access, width restrictions and bollards everywhere making multidrop delivery in a big truck way more effort than I wanted to put in to it. I get that the plan is to reduce traffic and pollution but wont be long before no one wants to drive a lorry into London and then who's going to keep the shops supplied? Anyway, keep up the good work (on YT!) I enjoy the content a lot.
Let’s Game It Out did something similar to your copper stadium. He had built conveyer belts in a tornado direction then later built conveyer belts in an opposite direction. Sorta looked like the crystal above a Sims head. He also built a mesh out of conveyer belts.
I love that "it's annoying that replacing the road kills everyone on it"
make more landing pads for the many people waiting to land to land
you can place drills inside the mining deposit
the Construction materiel storage is best to place near concrete factory's or other types so the trucks dont need to travel so far unless its close tho
You can try connecting one level up from the previous loop to the factories to shorten the distance. If that doesn't work keep working backwards.
Meanwhile somewhere out there, a whole warehouse of OSHA handbooks are burning like kindling. :D
US cities have a number of merge and diverges in the left lane of the highway. Sometimes you have a quarter of a mile from your merge to the diverge, it's quite hilarious, it's the one time you can be a BMW driver and not get a ticket for being a jackass in a non-bmw. No signal, you have about 7 seconds to get over, you floor it and dive across 3/4 lanes to get to the exit left from where you merged on the right.
Please consider updating your cities power distribution utilizing the Power Substations to distribute power.
You can also pile up solar panels next to each other, it's far more space efficient.
Culture is delivered from Stadiums, those need a good chunk of space.
You're going to want to start thinking about how you want to build highways and distribute goods, the traffic to deliver goods to the housing gets large as the city gets big and into upper levels.
these episodes are to short and rare - I LOVE it!
"In the future, people love mining"
So the future is populated by dwarves?
You have thought too greedily and too deep.
Looks like you put down a fast road instead of a normal road with your copper mines. So they won't work now.
Love the roller coaster road!
Thank you rce for posting infra space I love this series
This colony looks designed by an architect
Watching your videos are the highlight off my day. I look forward to getting home from work and relaxing with your videos! Thank you so much
Can you throw this in the playlist please need to have a catch-up on this and the last one 😂
after the earthquake in Zagreb and Petrinja i cant joke about it anymore, the horor i got thru, and the fear about being in a building that can colapse gets me even now even when i live in Munich
Love this series. Never stop making it
real civil engineer is fading and real civil architect has begun
I’ve been playing this since you’re first video, and after buildings a massive colony it swiftly broke down because of the ridiculous traffic. Yay
Did you get to the part of super highways? You say massive, so I am looking to give pointers or to get some advice for how to handle massive traffic loads. I am sitting around 3000 pop
@@HowardDPVT yes got super highways. Left it a while now but I think I’m around 4500-5000 atm
I'd love to see RCE play Factorio
Your road designs are genius
18:13, he creates things that look like they were created by an architect, but his Hollywood sign says that he hates architects! LMAO 🤣
I don't remember seing a video from this channel before and this video got recommended to me. An Indicator that it is probably going to blow up in the future.
-especially with it's really catchy title :)
Thumbnail is exactly what the roads in my dreams look like.
bro click on 4th icon on top left icons bar that will get u know that on what thing u r lacking and how much of it will be enough
It does work but only if all the resources and items are made in individual areas. It gets to a point where the circuit information is useless as most late game items need a section just for circuits
But he should use them for all the home required items
17:31 don't worry kids it's not what you think it is, it's actually a turbo
moving up and down side to side like a roller coaster
16:22
You are taking about the future 😂😂
Dude... I don't know about other countries, but in India people love watching Those JCBs dig up the ground 🔥🤣🤣🤣 So much that recorded videos of it goes on trending on CZcams 🤣😂😅🤞
Curious whether there were no adjacency bonuses in the early versions of Infraspace, or RCE just didn't know about them.
I was baffled by RCE constantly calling the Nice Habitat the Crystal Maze so I had to look it up. Of course it's a UK game show, that's why I'd never heard of it
Since i've started watching your vids about InfraSpace, i started to play this hidden gem a lot more often, messing around with its physics just like you do with these turbine-like highway thingies xD
Did you ever manage to run a straight (!!!) 45°-angled road down a vertical cliff? This cuts Delivery time for some special ores like Aluminum (Iridium, Uranium etc ) pretty hard sometimes, given on where youve started out your city
Game says impossible, I say no :D
*tornado-like, better said
Love this project! Pls more!
You should really take advantage of stacking efficiency, you can get to a 200% efficiency if you plop the building correctly. Make one row of the main material A you need, then plop buildings next to it that produce resources needed for the thing A. It's usually good to make electronics fabrics right beside mining machines. Later in the game you will need ALOOOOOT of green electronics and blue chips.
16:28 you should make that out of fast road it would be so much fun
As much as I love you, changing the London Borough from a 30 to 20 zone is unforgivable.
Those rollercoaster highways look like something an architect would come up with...
RCE you should try Oxygen Not Included! I bet you would love that game!
Wow, that freeway is really artistic, almost like it was built by an architect with no engineering input.
Timberborners is getting an update very soon- Just so ya know.
17:57 Yea if you have OBS open (or whatever alert program you use) then any alert can be triggered.
I thought the new highway is more like battle rope than rollercoaster😂
Thing is that all trucks are only going one-way, from point A to point B, and then, they are jobless.
18:18 a piece of road on the 4th row from inside is facing the wrong way
More of this!!! Your best series!!
Which borough? I cycle in London and I love the 20 mph roads, feels so much safer!
I love this series!!
i know it's a small request but can you turn the farm so it is straight with the other ones
matt just feels like a sensible version of est game it put that actually follows the rules and plays the game as intended
(eddit)ı was wrong
"And when I say 4 I mean 8" - a true engineer
I think the main benefit of the soler panels is they will take up less space
Oooh, this is giving me big Satisfactory vibes. You should play that next!
I wonder, have you played Dyson sphere program yet. I feel it could be up your alley.
Hearing of those 20 mile an hour speed limits and upgrading of tiers. That was traumatic. 🤭
Looks like the construction of an architect. have you betraid us?
Id like to see some Dyson Sphere lol One Man, One Engineer vs Many Architect Stars.
😄😄
RCE you dont lv up at the habbit because they are out of the sector so they are not upgrading and same for mines
And you need to take the district to deliver to the town
RCE's hatred for architects somehow reminds me of spiff brit's love for yorkshire tea 😂
I dont know, bit that copper stadium does look a bit architectury...
The common factorio rule: Whatever you THINK you need - double it. Twice!
Youre not using the power substations?
We still getting that Pringles flavor ranking for the 1,000,000 sub special? 😂
RCE is about to bust a spanner building this city
You should use the menu that manages your production 😂😂. Calculating that manually must suck
I still really want to hear your architect stories. They're a stereotype, but there must be more to inspire this unending ire
my friend might become an architect
Let's game it out : *"This is not the final form"*
Rce you need 2 iron mine and 1 copper mines per 1 green building and 1 red building
Are you John or George from fresh spawns? Keep up the marvellous content on both channels if you were and have a good Christmas and have a fantastic New year
