This is tru;y an accurate review. Most reviews I see are watered down and designed o sell you the bike without giving you a true feel of what to expect. Thank you.
3 things that changed my Megatower.. 1.) Cascade Link bumping rear travel from 160mm to 166mm with stock 57.5mm shock stroke & 440mm CS. 2.) Rockshox ZEB in 170mm travel & 38mm 3.) Fox Float X2 2021 A few things.. you definitely need 170mm or even 165mm cranks. Also the Rockshox rear shock feels a tad harsh and super poppy! The X2 feels more like the best of both world of coil and air tho for sure! Good job on the review and initial impressions! It’s the most fun big bike I’ve ever had 🤩✨🚲💨
I have this bike with the air shock. Had the coil on it, definitely took away some of the harshness and gave it a more planted feel but I love the poppyness of the airshock more.
I had ridden both bikes too,but I own and S4 Enduro. One of my best ridding friend got a Megatower at the same time I got my Enduro. In the first side by side runs,I liked more the Megatower than the Enduro. But the Enduro needed another kind of ridding, way more aggressive. Once I learn that, the Enduro is an absolute weapon, totally balance grip but still nimble. Cornering is way faster and easy that any other bike I know&test and straight lines you could tank any obstacle 0 drama. Best thing it pedals really well for a big long bike,it is a fast bike doing whatever, and that is not a thing you could said about many enduro bikes, doing very well anything.
I've changed my Mega quite a bit and it still feels snappy and poppy like you mentioned in comparison to the enduro. I've ridden both bikes and the 1st thing I notice when I ride an Enduro is just how long the reach is. The bike is loooonnnggg! With that being said I changed my mega quite a bit. 170mm fork 445mm chain stays Cush core inserts Etc. It isn't a light bike at around 34.5lbs. I've ridden it both coil and air shaft rear and coil gave it that more "planted" feel and I missed the poppy playfulness of the bike. Would I still ride the hell out of an Enduro? Absolutely. Is either one of them better? They're just different.
Justin Niemi hell yeah! My plan for The Enduro is to pull the Cushcores and just run gravity tires. Also grab an air shock to play with. I’ll keep the Coil though so I have that option. Hopefully this will bring back some of that poppy feel I’m looking for! I was surprised how similar they both felt in the saddle. My enduro is a S3 and the Mega was a large so measurements were close. Goal is to try to find some of that poppy playfulness I’m missing. My bike is not light at all now either and that never bothered me climbing cause it just goes up so good! If I don’t notice a huge difference I’ll probably put the Cush back in. I just love that feel!👊🏽
Matt I’d say go with the one you can get the best deal on! They both do everything great! Both of them have traits the other may not but over all they both will work good and be fun for what you are looking for.
@@mtbnorcal8 Finding a great deal is next to impossible right now i think lol shops are struggling to make stocks. Thanks for your input. Also, your reviews are really good. Keep them coming :D
I still don't know why you would need big enduri bikes for these trails, I go down steep enduro race tracks on a hardtail with 140 fork. If you want snappy get a trail bike
Ollie & Chub I personally like I big enduro bike. It’s not a issue of need cause your right. You could ride a short travel bike on most of what we ride but the big enduro bikes is where it’s at for us!
@@mtbnorcal8 just got done with my first ride on my new Enduro Expert, and while I would not describe it as poppy, it’s plenty nimble. It’s an S2 and I’m 5’6”. Could’ve gone S3, but glad I didn’t. And man this thing can climb! It’s 35 lbs and I can say it climbs as well or better than my Fatboy Carbon which is 26 lbs. After riding a rigid bike for the past 5 years, I’m loving that 170. This bike is my Coupe de Ville.

johnny bravo agree!🤙🏽
Santa cruz bikes are very poppy, i like this, my v10 looks like a rodeo bull 🤣 also my bronson is the same but in smaller proportions
Good video! Glad you got to ride both NC and Auburn on Megatower to get a fair comparison.
Jessey Beam thanks brotha! Yes it was good to get em both in!

Which would you recommend the spesh enduro or sc mega as do it all bike? Like from mellow trail to harsh trail. Thanks

Where are these trails? I live near Reno.
These trails are in auburn, I was there the other day, and they rock.
Santa Cruz alll day yeeeeyeeee!
I don’t like snappy handling on bikes love my enduro best bike I’ve ever ridden
The enduro would eat does trails alive.
We both own enduros 🤘🏻
I rode these trails on my S5 enduro, and it flies on these trails, I cath up to my buddies Intense Carbine because I can take more speed.

@@mtbnorcal8 same, I love the sense of stability on a huge bike haha.
@@nick_john I can say the same about my S5 Enduro, just a special, fast, comfy bike. I have a custom build with the grey smoke frame.
you don't need more than 100mm of travel for what you ride...
westonp80 I know! Haha. That’s not why I ride big bikes...😀
He needs 200mm minimum IMO
