    Why do you have arctic dogs in such a warm climate? Poor animals. They don't belong in such hot climates.

    • @captureitlive
      @captureitlive Před 3 měsíci +3

      Great point . It's because they just "desire" the breed . They'll tell you that the dog lives in the aircon all day and adapts to the heat outside . Same as I saw a woman walking a doberman in Alaska . Mindless selfishness .

    There is one vlogger, he had a studio in BGC, 1 aircon and his bill was 25,000 ridiculous and he found out that it is the non-inventer AC that made it high. He moved out, found new flat still in BGC with inverter AC and his bill went down.

      @Mega-zi7ys Před 3 měsíci

      @@HanzBergmanno it's not a scam. These guys are just "geniuses". That's direct utility company billing they're holding in hand. There's nothing the condo association can do. Those are standard rates from the utility company. The prevailing rate from meralco service areas is p11.50-13.50/kwh...go to the provinces and many coops (as many utility companies there operate under a coop) charge between 12.50-14.50/kwh.
      Makes no difference where you are, it's the usage that matters.
      Yup Phil elect rates are high.
      But it's definitely not the condo's or wherever gated village he lives that's doing the metering.
      Each utility subscriber is assigned a direct individual meter.
      The only option is you go solar and do not connect to the utility grid or run your own gensets which will cost you more as fuel is expensive in the Phils. More expensive than in the States and the farther you get from city centers the more expensive the fuel gets.

      Agreed! When we first moved to BGC, our non-inverter style AC units proved to be incredibly power-hungry. If you're away a lot, it makes sense for the bill to be less that month. But the difference between a few months when you're there shouldn't vary that much, especially if the weather outside is generally the same. It might make sense to speak to the utility company and ask for an explanation. Then try a month or two of conserving energy - turn off lights, adjust the temp, unplug appliances when not in use, change the temp on the water heater, etc...and see if it makes a difference.

    Use inverter aircon and other appliances. Non-inverter a/c switches its compressor motor to maintain temperature. It is the switching on/off that spikes how much current is used. Inverter aircon's compresssor only slows down after reaching desired temperature.

It's hopeless to cool a house that is not properly insulated but it is realistic to control the humidity of a house with acceptably closed windows and doors. The end result is the same, cool feeling for the occupants. I found Carrier and Daikin has models that can do those.

    6 aircons in a condo? Is this the penthouse 200sqm model? It all boils down to what you can afford and going with that many aircons in a condo would seem to indicate you have a much higher threshold for monthly expenses than most. No shade at all, just an observation. I am actually not surprised given how you use the power when there. We all know electric in PI is monopolized - should be a crime really. Out in the province you pay 16 pesos at least per kw hour - another crime - so we went off grid solar. Even off grid we still manage our expense as best possible as to not waste money. We don't run the fridge between 12am-5am, we shut off the water cooler during that time as well. Water heaters in the shower use a lot of electricity, so we've gotten used to having a hot shower when we really need/want it, but try for no water heater as much as possible. good luck!

    Condos are easy to cool. No need to use all ACs at once. Use 2-3 and keep doors open and use ceiling fans and stand fans to circulate the air. Use timers on your ACs- have them shut off at around 4am so you wake nice and thawed at around 7am. If have a wifi plug controller, have the fans kick in as soon as the ACs shut off. Little things like these done for 30 days and nights make a big difference.

Dec rate was low because of the cool weather less use of a/c and efans. Niya’s braces cost too much. Outside of BGC you can get them for $1k all in also in instalments but it’s your choice to get one in BGC. Looking forward to ur next adventure summer is just around d corner. If your aircon has no inverter .. electricity consumption is so expensive .. since you have 7 aircons a monthly average if 4k to 5k per month maybe x 7 units would be about 28-35k per month if you are maximizing use of aircons .. omg .. that is so expendive .. you should sort this out in Meralco office maybe or your admin in the condo

    The government's inaction on the skyrocketing electricity prices is a glaring oversight with serious consequences. Electricity isn't just a convenience anymore; it's become a lifeline for homes and the backbone of businesses. Ignoring its soaring costs is like ignoring a fire spreading through our economic foundation.
    Small and big businesses alike are feeling the pinch of these high electricity bills. It's eating into their profits, making it harder to keep their doors open and their workers employed. And it's not just businesses; families are struggling to make ends meet with these bills stacking up.
    If the government truly wants to see positive change in our economy, it has to start by tackling the electricity crisis head-on. That means finding ways to bring costs down, whether it's investing in renewable energy or making our infrastructure more efficient. If they keep dragging their feet on this issue, they're not just holding back businesses-they're holding back the entire country's potential for growth and prosperity.

    I wasnt surprised at all. When you counted the number of ACUs that you have, my guessed was around 40-45k. Why? Thats because each ACU would average 5k for about 12-16 hours of used. So, with 7 ACUs x 5k that would give you that 40k bill. If you want to bring down your bill, try not using all rooms at the same time except during sleeping hours at night. During the day, confined your activities to a common area like the living room so that you can switch of the ACUs in the rooms.

    Well, I live in a 2-bedroom air-conditioned condo in Pasig. I live on my own and the monthly bill averages 4-5k. When my son way staying with me, it was about 8-10k, but that's because he had his room cold as a freezer! 😂 I only run the aic-conditioning for maybe 5-6 hours a day, during the hottest part of the day, and use a fan while sleeping at night.
    It seems you are billed by your building management, not Meralco. Maybe you're paying a higher unit rate because of a building management surcharge. In the condos where I live, everyone has their own Meralco meter and is billed directly by Meraclo. You will also find that the unit rate changes almost every month, so the more you use, the more the bill will increase/decrease.
    It's also possible that you are not fitted with inverter type aircons. That makes a huge difference. Inverter types use about half the electricity.

    Philippines has one of the highest kWh in Southeast Asia. No wonder your bill is really high. I live in Orlando Florida and during summer it is as hot and humid. With a 320 sq mm under central AC my highest bill was around $270 my house is well insulated. You definitely save money for dental braces. My daughter just finished hers. I paid $2000 to remove 3 impacted molars and $6000 for braces. My son is next. Dental and medical procedures in the US are crazy expensive. Do it in the Philippines it’s the same results.

    If allowed by the condo building, change all your electric bulbs to LED bulbs. This bulb change may save you about 20-30% of the electric bill. This is because a 5 to 10 watts LED bulb emits the same light as 30 to 40 watt regular bulb. Set the air conditioning temperature to a higher temperature ssy 75 F, and make sure that your air-conditioner has built in thermostat which turns off the air conditioner when the set temperature is reached. This saves you on your electric bill because the machine won’t be running for 24hours all the time. You can also shut down your air conditioner at night when the temperature is cold

    Hi Ocampo family, your electricity is very high. I ‘ve been watching vloggers from BGC and they have the same issue. Okay I worked in Meralco before and we had trainings on electric bills, how to read the meter etc. to give you some basic rules in cosumption of appliances… anything that produces heat and cold are the ones with the big consumption. To give you an example a split type aircon inverter is from 2 pesos to 7 pesos per hour depending on the brand and horse power. Non inverter split type is from 5 to 7 pesos per hour. So tryo to compute daily and then monthly. Microwave ovens, OVens, oven toaster, coffee maker, water dispenser, electric stove, refrigerator, air conditioner, water heater these are the high consumption appliances. Televisions, laptop, computer desktop electric fans, white bulbs are low consuming, choose white light bulb rather than the one with colors because those are more high consuming. I hope i was able to give some valuable tips.

  • @daveviate305
    @daveviate305 Před 4 měsíci

    Inverter units typocally drop electricity usage by 30% so the electric bills would still be high.
    Pricey electricity makes me wonder why homes don't use a central air unit with high SEER. Many new homes also have floor-to-ceiling windows everywhere that aren't double-paned. Of course, having well-insulated walls would be better than living in a terrarium. Also, new homes often lack proper weatherstripping.

    Looks like about 19.5 cents(USD) per kilowatt hour. I checked my state (Michigan) and it's 18.1 cents USD on average, so the PH rate seems very high given the fact that part of the rate is made up of labor. It must be the cost of getting the fuel transported there that makes it higher. My off-peak rate is a couple of cents lower per kilowatt hour, so I run the optional things like laundry and dishwasher after 7:00 PM. Not much choice with AC though - gotta have it when you need it!
