- In this video I proceed with the engine rebuild on the Renault 5 GT TURBO.
This time I install the liners together with the rods and pistons.
before doing that i install all the piston rings.
I also install the chain sprocket and timing chain and tensioner.
This engine is being rebuild because of a massive engine failure due to the fact that someone in the past had installed the wrong cylinder head, and also filled the engine with liquid sealant which had clogged all the oil passages...
The engine ended up cracking a piston.

Haha! Yea... to tell you the truth, it feelt horrible to drop it! even tho it was a scrap piston ! haha!

alot of info about the timing thanks l am busy rebuilding mine and l installed the cam 180° out but now l know l need to change it 😧glad l haven't cranked it yet cause finding info online regarding the engine is difficult but thanks great video 😎👍 keep making them

Hi mate, So I am about to change my chain and pinions without getting he engine down. I plan to do it like this: rotate the engine till I have the Minus and plus aligned(plus up, minus down) then I will remove chain and put the pinions back in the same position? Will this work or is te engine or camshaft easily moving when there is no chain?

The rings will spin as soon as you start the engine.
Hi seaside garage! Its you engine running good? Im rebuilding mine and saw your rods are in same way like mines, and i thought mines were wrong. But looks that rods can be turned 180°.....
Yes it is running very nice.
Its put together as it was taken apart. And it seems the rods are mirrored. :)
