A Visit To The Shuttleworth Collection

On a recent trip we visited the fascinating Shuttleworth Collection based at the Old Warden Aerodrome in Bedfordshire. The collection houses over 40 aircraft as well as vintage vehicles. All the aircraft are airworthy and all regularly fly from this grass aerodrome, one of the few left operational in the UK. In this video we show you just some of the exhibits, displayed in the 6 hangars which chart the history of aviation from the early 1900s until the 1950s. We also get to see the planes flying that day.

I visited the Shuttleworth Collection in May 1987. We were students of the *Aircraft Accident Investigation Short Course* dictated by the Cranfield College of Aeronautics and the AAIB . Cdr Bernie Forward led our visit to this extraordinary Aerodrome where we were able to admire all this incredible airplanes.

That sounds amazing - bet you learned loads about the wonderful exhibits they have on show. We were really impressed by the fact that all the planes are airworthy and regularly flown at the Aerodrome. We were only able to stay for a few hours - think it needs a whole day to really appreciate what they have there. Thank you for watching the video and for your support. 👍😀

Thought this might go on your list! It is a fascinating place. We only spent a few hours there, it needs a full day to see everything. It was great to see the planes flying all through the time we were there. Hope you get to visit soon.👍😀
