  • Yasmen Brown-Jones, known as Yaz, grew up on a farm in South Georgia as one of 12 siblings, which instilled in her a strong work ethic. A breast cancer survivor, she now lives in Cincinnati and works for the West Chester Liberty Chamber.
In October 2022, Yas started training at Starting Strength Cincinnati and the gym community became vital after the tragic loss of her 21-year-old son in November the same year. She found support through training and the Starting Strength community.
To honor her son’s legacy, Yaz founded the Angel 14 Foundation, offering life coaching, financial advising, peer counseling, and mental health support for young people. Visit the Angel 14 Foundation to learn more: www.angel14.org/

She had recent shoulder surgery so the SSB bar is being used temporarily while her shoulder is still recovering. This 63 year old woman returned to training shortly after surgery. The only thing bad here is your grammar.

Yaz and all present coaches sure didn't notice that she uses SSB, thank you for pointing that out, she would've trained with SSB for years before finding out!
