A filter that is implated in a large vessel like the aorta to prevent an embolism from traveling to the heart, which looks like you took 6 small wires and twisted them at the end 😂 is $8000 each!
I had one vet say that my cat would need a cleaning. I asked her to have them call me back with the total - 575 something. I went to another vet, and she told me to just get her greenies and change her food. Kitty had bad breath but no more - and I've kept an eye on her chompers. So far so good.

Hey Vet assistant here - for dental care, the best options are 1. Brushing 2. Enzymatic Dental wipes 3. Dental foods (Hills TD, Royal Canin Dental, etc) 4. Enzymatic Water additives (warning cats are picky though with their water) 5. Dental treats My own cats I went with a combination of brushing and hills TD. It also does not bother my one cat's IBD (aka kitty IBS). every pet is different and different things work for different pets.

So they don't have as much time to accumulate tartar and dental problems. Chewing on bones can help to a degree but nowhere near as much as proper dental care. Like us, it is a bacteria in the saliva that causes tartar and it sticks to the teeth until cleaned off and removed. Animals that have lost all their teeth do not have tartar but they still have the bacteria in their mouth.

There have been quite a few feral and stray cats at our shelter that had to get full mouth extractions (all their teeth removed). Stomatitis is a pretty common reason for this, but just like any cat, they can just develop tartar and get cavities. Sometimes the specific breed can contribute to more dental issues because the shape of their anatomy, like Siamese cats. I adopted one last year, he’s an absolute gem 💎 🐱 and he also had to get a dental cleaning before coming home 😆 the shape of their breed’s skull makes it easier for tartar to build up.

A full dental cleaning from the vets includes anesthesia, X-rays, cleaning UNDER the gum line, the surface of the teeth and polishing. We put pets under because it reduces our risk of getting bit and most importantly is the most comfortable for the pet. Dental appointments can be scary but you cannot tell your pet why it's happening or reason with them. It's like taking babies to the dentist.

My cat also had a huge chunk on his tooth but the vet gave us something to put in their food and it worked miracles. And greenies dental treats for cats, my cats love them and it helps their teeth so I love them too

Only problem with my one cat is she fucking swallows the greenies. I try and keep her mouth clean but it is dam near impossible. I even got oral food one time and she swallowed those too! The only thing I can think of is milk bone, but she’s try and swallow those too😀

Ik you’ve probably tried everything haha but on the off chance you haven’t, try healthy mouth gel! All you have to do is rub a tiny bit on her teeth/gums with a Q tip and it helps with buildup and inflammation. Much easier and quicker than actual brushing. My kitty has stomatitis and we’ve been able to stop it from progressing and avoid expensive anesthetic dentals/extractions with this stuff.

HELP whenever my cat (dead now) goes to the vet, the veternarians are ready to be like personally attacked, but my cat litterally cuddles with everyone and purrs 🤣 he is like heaven to a veterinarian- the people will have on gloves and stuff ready to be scratched and hissed at, but he just walks around and asks for pets; its litteraly comical 😭💀
