That is a very tolerant cat. If I tried doing that to Greavsie I would need reconstructive surgery on my arm and probably a blood transfusion.
đđđ
OMG YOUR COMMENT HAS MADE OUR DAY! â„ïžâ„ïžđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Yeah mine too. My hand wouldâve looked like hamburger meat. Mine doesnât even like his claws clipped. I take him to a groomer to do it. It takes two people to do it. One to wrap him in a towel and hold him down ( he weighs 17 pounds and itâs mostly muscle) and the other to do the trimming. They say itâs like giving Hannibal Lecter a mani pedi.
Tara Citti . Haha. Greavsie is a bit of a chunk too. When Greavsie needs his booster injections the vet comes to our house. They come in twos cos Greavsie has a bit of a reputation!! No joking. đ€Ł Last time they brought a big towel to wrap him in so they could inject him. Well he took one look at this towel and freaked out poor boy. I had to pin him to the carpet so they could do it. He sulked for the rest of the day đ€Ł
Yeah me too! My cat would freak out!
We switched from plastic bowls to glass ones and our cats chin acne almost completely disappeared. They maybe get a blackhead or two every few months now.
Probably because plastic holds more bacteria, no matter how much you wash it itâs still there. Glass is more hygienic
We have 5 cats.... we switched to a feeder that they have to pull the food out and did awsy with bowls all together.... even their water bowls.... we bought them a fountain... any soft food is given on paper plates. We havent had problems since in any of them. And their weight has gotten better and they dont waste the food like they used to.... (they would only eat what was fresh but always wanted the bowls full) just happier kitties all around now.
I did the same and it's made a huge difference though Peanut would have my hands shredded if I tried to shave him!
Same with ours, the plastic really irritated their skin. We use metal or glass only now and itâs all cleared up!
Awwww Peanut is such a cute name! đž what color is he?
Soft bristle baby brush, a few drops of pre surgical soap that contains chlorhexidene in it (can typically be purchased at any drug store) onto the brush, wet it with warm water, then apply in circular motions to your cats chin. Wipe away residue and left over suds with a damp towel. Kitty chin acne... gone. Youâre welcome!
PS: shaving will make it worse. More itchy (due to hair regrowth and skin irritation from the trimmers) which will lead to more scratching which leads to more sores. Cat owners know that cats hate e-collars... help avoid them by not shaving their hair where they arenât normally shaved.
Aww THANK YOU VERY MUCH! LOVE YOUâ„ïžâ„ïž
@@eyowcat I sincerely hope you try it! I think you will find that your patient kitty will enjoy it. Spa Day!! Hahahaha
OMG. Simple but brilliant. Canât believe I never thought of it. Game changer for my cat patients. Thank you!
@@HelenBlazes My flame point was very intolerant of needing his acne treated, but loved being brushed. When I started using this method... BOOM... game changer indeed. He went from hating his âtreatmentâ to purring and loving it. So I am always happy to share what Iâve tried in hopes it helps other afflicted kitties.
Sounds rational..thanks
My Vet told me it's cat blackheads. They don't turn into acne as we know it. My method is a flea comb, the blackheads are dry and comb out easily. Vet said to use Stridex acne medication wipes. I wipe their little chins about every 2 weeks. Plastic bowls seem to accelerate the problem. I noticed a big difference just changing the water bowls to glass. Much Love to all the kitties đ± of yours. I have 4 of my own đ».
Tey Tree -- all food should be fed on a flat plate.. Never in a bowl, whether plastic or glass..
Water in a glass bowl..
That is an exceptional cat who allows you to clip the fur around his mouth.. However, it is best not to traumatize the infected area any more then necessary.. Shaving the fur is not necessary.. You push that infection(pimple) upward and inward and you will have a major problem..
AWW THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR LOVEâ„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïž
I'm so glad I read the comments. I'm using ceramic bowls and my cat still seems to have a bit of chin "crust"
I have 4 too!
My kitties do turn into whiteheads. He's very good about letting me get the big ones cuz he knows I'll helping and it will hurt less. Then we scrub with a warm wet towel morning and night sometimes with a little peroxide
It's not recommended to shave of the fur, especially because the cat has small whiskers on his chin as well that help with depth perception, hunting, playing and balance. Also, it's not good to squeeze out the acne or scrape the crust off. Just rub the ointment and keep the dishes clean and fresh water daily.
Iâm glad they tried a solution and shared but Iâm really glad you told them I never knew that
I agree no need for that I would say the shaving and regrowth of the hair would probably cause build up of these black heads making the bigger every time you do it ,
I had a cat years ago that would get the occasional blackhead I would gently squeeze it out and wash her face with warm salt water, the vet nurse favourite and she was fine, they stop as they get older.
It looked like at some point they cut some of the whiskers shorter and I also think they don't care for this cats well being cause all their content is this cat having black heads so their gonna wanna keep making these videos I've gotten recommended videos from this account multiple times all about this cat having black heads and they just do harsh things to removed them and once it's back they make another video
I've come to the conclusion that it's not the same account so there's multiple accounts doing harsh things to cats to remove something that could be easily prevented but they don't prevent it to keep making content about this
Good god, thatâs a very tolerant kitty. My cat would maul me.
Seems I am not the only one who thinks this âacneâ might be sores caused from the type food and water dishes the cat uses. Glass and stainless steel are the best for animals to use. Plastic can cause many various issues let alone the chin skin sores from constant rubbing and friction.
Edited as of 12/15/22- Iâm happy to see everyone loves their feline family members so much, that you all liked and commented this video and my post. I agree with a lot of comments made about general cleanliness being important after eating and that anything can cause chin skin issues. Could be the cats super sensitive, or has allergies, or is going through puberty and like we all do at that time get spots! Lol
In general if a cat has no one or another feline to help groom them, and they eat wet food and have their damp chin rubbing on a hard surface? I find that is enough to cause skin problems. Think about it, they are basically rubbing and pushing wet contaminates into their skin, so of course it could cause a problem. So I definitely agree that cleaning their chin properly after eating or having another cat that grooms them will help. And that certain material is better for food and water dishes! But sometimes itâs a medical issue we canât fix, hence a vet appointment.
Thanks for all the feed back!!
I'm wondering if ceramic bowls are ok to use. I've tried several different types. I'm still noticing small "crusty" spots on my cats chin.
Read somewhere that some cats are allergic to metal and some could get catne from it too. Maybe glass is indeed the safest for the most sensitive of kitty skins
I switched and it didn't really help sadly
Do they have a grooming partner? Cats can't lick their chin and rely on others to do it. It may be you...
True!!!
Yes, plastic bowls are bad. They carry/ hold bacteria. Switch to porcelain, stainless steel, or glass. Also wash them after each meal. It also seems to be a ginger cat thing. Neither of my black cats had this. I think their shin is more sensitive, just like red headed people. Also, once I switched bowls, I even had to take up the plastic place mat. ( BPA fumes, can also cause this).
I think you could have done that w/ o shaving poor kitties chin. I'm sure that was painful w/ the acne. Just a warm compress first to soften the skin, if doing extractions, then yes, definitely the antibacterial solution. Either peroxide or alcohol is safe, or your vet will have some pads for this.
you sound knowledgeable
Did liquid hand sanitizer can also as a replace to antibacterial like in the video?
I mean I wanna treat my cats by myself, so I donât have to go to the vet for the anti bacterial liquid
Also I have alcohol wipes 70% in my med kit. Can I use that too?
@@JelitaAndini I wouldnât use hand sanitizer or the alcohol wipes just to be on the safe side
@@JelitaAndini Iâm not a vet and Iâm not the most Educated on this but try witch hazel or diluted tea tree oil
Omg, do not shave the acne off, sometimes itâs pretty deep scabs and could be painful. Just soften them up and let them fall out naturally.
This is nuts Iâve had cats all my life, never knew this sort of thing could happen
me either, I never heard of such a thing.
I think it depends on the breed or skin type, most cats don't but ofc theres gonna be some who do
My tomcat has this time after time, but this is no acne. He just scratches himself to much.
My one gets it all the time, but my other doesn't. Depends on the cat
I've had several cats that got it. I was really surprised the first time I saw it.
What a well-behaved baby!!â€ïž
(To people in comments)
Remember to bring up issues like this during vet checkups.
Itâs normally not too big of a deal but can be a sign of some other issues.
Always good to get a professional opinion, since not every cat will have the same problems or solutions
Yes
and if left untreated can lead to other infections
Had constant issue with both of my cats who are litter mates. I tried changing dishes regularly, using only glass. Tried swabs and cat friendly topical cleansers but nothing was helping. Then I came across a comment online somewhere that suggested the issue may be an allergy to beef. Since eliminating beef 6 years ago neither cat has had a blackhead.
What a beautiful, trusting and tolerant orange kitty! The shaver buzz, dog barking and the cleaning itself which surely was unpleasant and there was no struggling. I admit I did start giggling @ min 2:08 when the soft warning growling started. Thatâs the I love you, but wrap it up because Iâm out of patience alarm! đ»
Aww â€ïž
Yeah, donât do this. Use a few cotton wool pads soaked in warm water to gently melt the black off without pulling out hair or further irritation. Then follow up with vet approved antibacterial if they suggest it.
And of course, switch to metal of glass bowls. Beautiful cat though.
She's so calm, in my case I've to wait until mine is asleep before I can trim his paw fur. I can't imagine trimming his chin đ. Finnian has this problem too in the past, I've tried many things from changing the bowls to using a toner that's safe for cats. It disappeared not long ago, I don't know what gives.
Anyway, I hope she's all well now đ€
My advice is to get a smaller clipper. My cat had the same issue. Your clipper would be fine for bigger areas, but it's tougher to control where you cut and how much you cut with something this big. Since you cannot always see the bumps under the skin, etc, it's safer that way so you do not hurt them/cut something open by accident and cause infection.
Thank you very much for your advice! Appreciate it â„ïž
@@eyowcat Pleasure. My cat gets the black specs, but he also gets cysts and whiteheads (which are like pointy hard grains of rice). I've tried a few from Amazon and most of them are cheap-ish and some teeth broke or the battery sucked. I can show you the one that I got a few months ago and love if you'd like. It has a blue light on it and I didn't think that would be very important since I'm doing this close to the sun/during the day, but it's been SO helpful. I don't want to post it without asking, as I do not want you to think that I'm trying to sell you something.
Grab yourself some bikini area clippers. Work so much better and get a closer clip.
@@TL-um3xm Those can work but you have to be careful. They tend to cut more than a chin/small area clipper. You need to consider your cat's acne too. If your cat only has black specs and blackheads, I think your idea would work pretty darn well! My cat has blackheads, whiteheads and cysts. If I nick a cyst, I'm in for one hell of an infection and a vet bill most of the time. If your bikini area clipper works by allowing you to not get to the skin right away and to remove a bit and then a bit more, it'll work. There are cats that have red pustules that are bleeding. I think those may be even more fragile than cysts. Thankfully, my kitty doesn't have that. Since my cat has it fairly bad, the vet Rx'ed a benzoyl peroxide shampoo to leave on for 5 mins and a corticosteroid (please people, do not use your own corticosteroids on your cats, they are likely way too strong- saying that in general T L- not to you). It sucks but you have to keep at it as you would/did with your own acne. My cat is 90% clearer, but he still gets breakouts and he's 17. They say not to pop, but I pop his whiteheads and his blackheads. The blackheads become a bigger problem if I don't remove them and the whiteheads are hard like a grain of rice and he will rub his chin on something and pierce it... then, he has like a hard grain of rice sticking through his chin halfway in/halfway out. If he rubs his chin on a carpet, etc, it's an infection risk once again. He HATES me for about 15 minutes, but treats seem to make him forget lol I don't push too hard...if it's not ready to come out, a few more shampoos will bring it to the surface. I know this is like a book lol I have deal with this for 16 years or so. I just know how much people love their cats. They are family. Any tips and tricks are appreciated. For a cat that only has blackheads, I think your idea would work quite well! On my cat, with my shaky hands, I'd do something stupid.
My cat's acne disappeared when we got a second kitty! They bathed eachother and the new kitty would lick his chin for him
omg thats probably how my cat got a rid of it :O
I couldn't stop looking at the shiney flow of the Kitty's cute whiskers as he was cleaning. đ€
I've gone through cat acne. Its dishes. All dishes need to be washed every feed. If you use plastic ones.. replace them every year at least. I personally have gotten to the point of buying paper plates. I throw them away every use.
THANKS DEARâ„ïž
Why paper plates? Thatâs such a waste. Get a glass bowl. Easy to clean and from what I read and heard, actually helps in preventing cat acne and stuff. So go with a glass bowl or stainless steel
Yeah. Hygiene is important, even for animals. I see a lot of people letting their cats eat out of bowls with YEARS of caked food, saliva, and God knows what else đł đł đł The bacteria from the meat is problematic, in and of itself. Add bacteria fecal matter (from grooming), and 10 years of gestation to the mix and you have a recipe for problems.
IF YOUR CAT HAS ACNE THEN SWITCH FROM PLASTIC CONTAINERS THEY EAT FROM TO GLASS OR CERAMIC!
I second this! Bacteria tends to build up MUCH quicker on plastic surfaces, making it almost impossible to keep clean. Plastic bowls should be washed after every single meal, and plastic water bowls should be washed even more often, so itâs more worth it to just switch to metal or ceramic bowls, which should be washed a few times a week vs multiple times a day to avoid bacteria growth.
This is also why dogs, birds, mice, rats, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, and lots of other pets should have metal or ceramic food and water bowls (this excludes plastic water bottles, which are air tight and donât grow bacteria as fast).
Anyways, I wish everyone reading this a fine morning/afternoon/evening/night, and I hope to have given yâall some knowledge!
Stainless steel bowls are also good. My cats don't have cat acne.
This is always effective. In fact, I've never used plastic and I wash my cats bowls every day. He still has this. I would never shave or scratch at his chin though like this person. Warm water and animal safe antibacterial soap works just fine.
@@joseph7105 it actually doesn't have to be anything. Some cats just have it. Either way I know how to to keep it gone.
When we had a foster, we took him to be groomed especially for his chin acne. Boy they did an amazing job. They didnât have to shave his chin but I can see why you would! It showed you how much acne there was and you were able to have a good application of antiseptic. đ Clearly a well loved baby đ»đ»đ»
My kitty gets this. I brush it away fairly often with one of those cat flea combs. She doesnât like it too much but I canât let it build up too much there as I know it must get itchy.
Try end with antiseptic solution after you clean her chin with the comb. What I can share, I've tried comb my cat's chin before, sadly it became worse because the comb was like pushing the pores on her chin deeper.. đ„Č
@@eyowcat oooh okay! Thankyou đ
Mine gets it too. He hates seeing the flea comb come out.
@@eyowcat switch to stainless steel or porcelain bowls and it should clear up ^_^
@@eyowcat A metal flea comb is a great grooming addition to have, even if no fleas. The closely spaced teeth will remove a lot of debris from the fur. I make sure to rinse the comb with soapy hot water to avoid reintroducing dirty stuff.
I didnât know cats got acne ⊠itâs a great thing to find out thatâs for sure. Itâs not like Geraldo (my cat) can just go to the store and get whatever to wash it away.
Very educational , Thanks for sharing!
Usually caused by plastic food and water bowls or allergies. Definitely donât need to shave a catâs chin (unless that is what a vet has recommended). They can be prevented by using glass, stainless steel or ceramic bowls. And if they eat wet food, give your Gerardoâs chin a little warm water wipe after heâs done to prevent bacteria or fungal build-up. If he ever gets them, a baby toothbrush, some warm water and tearless shampoo mixed into water and then gently use the brush in circular motions. As the âacneâ softens, it will eventually just brush off. Then rinse. đž
*Geraldo
Stridex pads were recommended by my vet. The acne can be very irritated and inflamed, and it can hurt when you pick at it like that. I would simply cleanses the area daily with the stridex pads and switch to glass or stainless steel bowls. Wash them daily to remove oils from the skin that get on bowls.
Use ceramic or stainless steel bowls, the plastic ones are trash, they cause the acne!
How are you still alive? My cat would have killed me at the clippers.
I thought we hoomans also gifted with 9 lives aren't we?? đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Most cats would kill. Lol
My cat had chin acne, but in his case, I think it was his age. He was a young teenage kitty when I adopted him. He's a mostly white cat too so you could see his whole chin with dark flakes everywhere. Also, feeding them soft food with fish in it helps with the skin (omega 3 fatty acids). Once I started doing that, his problem went away. It also helps with the type of food dishes too. Nothing porous or dirty...
Shaving the chin is completely unnecessary and quite stressful to some cats, all you need to use is the fine side of a nit/flea comb, run it through several times then wash the area with a cotton wool ball thats been dipped in warm water. What you did with a shaver is over the top. And change feed bowls to either glass or ceramic they stop it for many felines
HI DEAR THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVE. We got diff cat dear.. different cat different preferences..â„ïž
@@eyowcat maybe different cat but your method is still not necessary
What a well behaved cat to allow you to do all this! đđ±
The razor must have hurt him, i bathed my cats chin in warm water before i did anything, it helps to loosen the acne.
Did the vet suggest shaving? When my kitty had this I was told to use benzoyl peroxide and it worked well!
Same. I couldn't imagine someone shaving my sores and picking at them. I just used warm water every day and it works
I never knew that a cat could get acne. Such a beautiful cat.
Use a flea comb itâs not as invasive as clippers and works just as well
probably more painful to use flea combs since they can catch in the fur, clippers dont
Use only glass or metal dishes. We wash their bowls every few days as well. They get this from drinking and eating from plastic bowls. Iâve never had any more problems with it. Hope this helps! đŸđœâ€ïžđ
Awhhh, what a sweetheart!! đđđ I highly suggest using glass bowls for food and water and clean the bowls with antibacterial soap every night. This will get rid of your cats acne or atleast calm the acne down.
NO WAY my cats would let me do that!! You have a very good cat!! â€ïž
Ahh that is the most gorgeous kittyđ» and you are so skilled at handling him... I think he likes the attention. The acne is so itchy so Iâd say itâs nice for him to have you gently treating it.

That kitty is so tolerant. Iâd need a blood transfusion if I attempted that.
HAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOD YOUR COMMENT MADE OUR DAY! đ€Łâ„ïž
Kitty baby did so well through that grooming!
What a good kitty. Despite the grumbles they were so good!
Poor baby. My vet told us to wash our cat's chin a couple times a day with a tiny amount of soapy water, while changing his plastic bowls to ceramic. His chin cleared up super quick without having to shave and pick at his already tender skin.
Poor baby, glad you were able to get it removed and disinfected. One of our cats actually got a whitehead from the plastic bowls. We switched to the nonslip bamboo bowls, it's made out of 100% natural material and super easy to clean in between feedings. Haven't had acne since!

What a wonderfull creature đ„° I also have a cat with acne đ it's a strange thing! Your cat is lovely đ„°đ
I'm glad this was recommended to me! I actually have a kitty dealing with it right now and had no idea what it was. Initially I thought it was due to fleas, I found her when she was tiny and took her home. But now the fleas are all gone and she still has it. Definitely getting glass bowls next time I go to the store, and stridex wipes. Luckily she is extremely tolerant like this, as long as it's not an actual bath lol
It seems a simple flea comb would suffice to remove the acne âdirtl? Also the electric trimmer seems as though it might be aggravating the acne
Calm Cat! Wow
I had no idea cats got acne and that is the most well behaved cat i have ever seen he was very tolerant of everything.
What a good cat. Wow.

Iâm glad itâs not just me who finds watching this kinda stuff satisfying. Lol.
It's the nest best think to human popping! I've had a couple if cats with feline acne and I was obsessed with it. Lol!
What a handsome cat
This is so satisfying to me
I had a cat that had that back a few years ago and my vet told me to never feed or water my cats from plastic bowls. I changed to glass and it disappeared in a few days. My daughter recently adopted a cat that had it when she brought him home she started using only glass. It took him a couple weeks because he had it bad. But heâs ok now!!

Kitty does not sound too thrilled with this toward the end, but until then, very patient!! Good kitty!!
Think she heard the dog in the background lol
this case was similar to our cat Milo, but i didn't have the shaving tool, i just cleaned it manually with my nail.
Cutting the kitties beard lol
If you have food that are very dusty or crumbly like some dryfoods are then my cat got those too. It's like it got stuck and just started it's own colony on the chin. I switched food to more expensive one and that helped. Some brands are blackhead friendly according to me.
I am 60 years old,had cats all my life, never once heard of â chin acneâ. Is this something perhaps more common in warmer or tropical climates? Just curious.
never use your hands to remove a bacteria infection
Good kitty!
I use a flea comb and âbam!â itâs scoops it all out. Easy peasy and super satisfying. We switched to glass bowls and it did nothing.
Our vet told us that was flea debris and eggs when we were trying very hard to get rid of the fleas that had gotten into the house. all the cats had it. and once the fleas were gone, that stuff went away too. Definitely not "acne"...
My vet said the same, but they haven't had a fleas in a year. Once one has em, so does the other & its such a pain cause they go everywhere. AND it's in the same spot, only on one cat...
Hi dear thank you for sharing. FYI, our cats get their flea medicine every month ya. As how good you were to went to the vet, we went to the vets also. Yes this were confirmed by the vet that it is acne and we will learn from time to time on how to improve itâ„ïž
The trick is to put the dirt on a paper towel and wet it. If the dirt âbleedsâ itâs flea dirt, if not itâs feline acne
Good cat parents.... â€â€â€
Bravo !! Vous ĂȘtes une gentille maman đ€đ§ž

Oh so that's what it is! My kitten just started to get those and I thought it was just a bit of dirt. Do you need to remove it or does it go away by itself?
Good to see the vetâ„ïžâ„ïž
