Feels priced too close to cheapest DJI mini. If it were 199 this would be a winner to me

I've owned 2 DJI drones, one of them cost more than twice the price of this and I never use it. I flew it 5 times before I became totally sick of the constant calibration, updates of updated updates for the batteries, controller and unit, then the menus and updated app blah blah. Could use it in the same park the same week and it needed calibrating again? No. This one is perfect for me. Can take it out my pocket, get the shot, put it away in about 40 seconds. Not spend 20 minutes faffing about agreeing about no fly zones and calibrating the compass again and all that.
I’m still waiting for the ring drone camera! Looks like the technology is there already. Ring drone is gonna be sweet

Damn, I was expecting a PINK HOVERAir!
I ordered one and sent it back without using it. My intention was to use it for recording skiing videos. The stated maximum speed for the object to be followed is 7 m/s or 25 km/h. That is quite slow but I'd say it's still acceptable for backcountry skiing. However, this thing is certainly not water resistant. The coils of the propellers' electromotors are exposed. I never owned a drone so I'm not sure if this is a norm. However, even with the utmost care I can't see a chance it would not land (or crush) on snow occasionally. And again, I'm talking backcountry powder, not that firm groomed surface you encounter in the ski resorts. I don't think it would survive that kind of situation for long. And lastly, the paperwork included in the box states that it's unsuitable for flying above 2000 m above the sea level. That is probably a somewhat arbitrary number and likely kept on the safe side but still a piece of information I have not encountered in any of the reviews and something to consider.

The fatal drawback of manual mode is that there is no takeoff button.
The concept is to control it after pressing the main button and then hovering.
If you crash or land in an inaccessible area due to an unexpected error, you have to take off again in manual mode, but this is impossible because there is no takeoff button in the menu.

Actually you CAN'T - unless in manual mode. In all the automatic modes the camera points at YOU. So if you want to film yourself being a peeping tom...

That was Hover Camera Passport! The X1 is about half the size, half the weight, and a true hands-free experience which the Passport didn't have.
