    I want one, Robert this is the best review of a motorcycle I have ever seen. It must be a joy to ride. Surprised though that Honda did not protect the bottom of the engine but the Traxxion Dynamics aftermarket belly pan looks like it will save Goldwing owners a lot of money and headaches. Good luck with it, she is beautiful!

      Albert, thank you for the kind words. I love this bike... it is a technological marvel. Silky smooth and yet powerful (at lease enough for me). I knew the traxxion pan was a must first purchase. I've seen videos of what breaks under the engine and it's not pretty and VERY expensive to repair. Thanks for watching and commenting !

    I had a GL 1800 Goldwing. I tried to fall in love with it for two years. It was perfect. I admit it was a perfect motorcycle. But the thought of having to work on it is why I got rid of it.
    my 1968 Bridgestone 350 GTR had that suede like top to the seat. They advertised it as as a slip proof seat cover..
    I have a video on my channel explaining why I decided to sell my perfect. Goldwing and I went back to my third Yamaha royal star venture. In a nutshell, you can get at everything on a venture without removing plastic practically. Did you ever change the air cleaner on a Goldwing? If you have your dealer do it say once every 10,000 miles.. if you don’t do that air filter, change yourself, which takes six hours and that’s what the dealer charges you at $130 an hour just labor. By the time you have 100,000 miles on that machine, you will have spent way over $6000 in labor just having the air filter changed once every 10,000 miles…
    I say all through my CZcams comparison of the venture to the goldwing i bought had ..the Goldwing is perfect, but it’s just so difficult to work on, and it’s so difficult to have the dealer work on it.
    that is a great idea that dipstick Upgrade you installed. I put one of those on my last moto guzzi- Norge.
    that design requires removal of the lower fairing just to Check the oil on the moto Guzzi Norge..
    I think Honda tells you right in the owners manual not to put floorboards on a Goldwing. Here is the danger of putting floorboards on your Goldwing.
    if you have a transmission failure under warranty, Honda will void your warranty because you have gone against the instructions in the owners manual. I have seen this happen with Honda motorcycles when I was a motorcycle mechanic. A customer used a chrome aftermarket oil filter. On his Goldwing.
    Two friends of mine that are gold wing enthusiast, had twin, gold wings.. I think they were 2012s. These guys traveled to all of the Goldwing functions in the East Coast every year, they have a trailer all decked out with Goldwing branding. The trailer inside is a workshop and a Goldwing museum almost. Inside the trailer was nicer than inside many peoples garage I have seen…
    they both traded in their gold wings on the 2018 gold wings
    after three months because of complaints from their wives about having not enough room and the luggage being smaller, they both traded their 2018 gold wings in after just three months in on leftover 2017 gold wings.. they like the old bigger ones and so did their wives..
    I did a lot of work on my goldwing i bought it used, I change the fork, springs, shock, spring, fork, seals, air cleaner, all fluids, tires, I did all the work, myself, and after doing that work with all that plastic, that’s when I decided I did not ever want to work on this motorcycle again, and I sold it. No matter how perfect it is ..
    I am now on my third Venture. I tried the BMW K 1200 LT. I’m not even gonna go into everything that was quirky about that bike. I put 138,000 miles on my 86 Venture which I kept for 16 years, and it’s sold on eBay for $400 more than I paid for it.
    but I went from the first Venture, to the BMW, to another, Venture, then I went to a Goldwing that was available near me just to try one. I never had a Goldwing before. And, like I said, working on, it was not fun, no matter how perfect they are, and I’m back on a venture. I’m not a gadget guy. I never listen to the radio on any of my motorcycles, I don’t even turn the intercom on. I like simple. Venture’s will do 300,000 Miles with basic maintenance just like a Goldwing. The Goldwing is not as roomy as a venture, and the Goldwing doesn’t have a soft a ride as the Venture with the air suspension. Now I agree air suspension is not the most modern or best handling, but it is the best ride.
    Miles with basic maintenance just like a Goldwing. The Goldwing is not as roomy as a venture, and the Goldwing doesn’t have a soft a ride as the Venture with the air suspension. Now I agree air suspension is not the most modern or best handling, but it is the best ride. I can get the saddle bag off either side of my Venture once the bag is empty of all the stuff I carry, while holding my breath one time. It’s just for screws… I can get at the starter, the stator, The slave cylinder, the water pump, and the clutch on my Venture, using the tool kit without removing any plastic to get out those components. That’s what I like about the Venture over my Goldwing.

      Wow Jody, you get the prize for the longest comment on one of my videos bar none... changing the air filter every 10k is ridiculous and I won't be doing that. every 40k at least maybe longer. It is a bear to get to but I don't mind. Plus I've purchased Cruiseman's videos to help me do it all my self and save every penny of dealer labor costs. I love this bike. thanks for watching and commenting !!

    One quick suggestion I installed homelink in less than an hour using Wing Stuffs video. Still paying over $200 for essentially just a a garage door opener was a little hard to swallow.

    Excellent. I am off to get a Goldwing this June 2024. I am riding a BmW R1250 RT. A very good bike but I want the ultimate bike to ride. Your video is so well filmed and the explanation are so well put forward. I do agree with all you ask Honda to improve. I tried the bike and I immediately thought about new pegs for front and a carpet for the case. Thanks to you I did not know about protection engine. I will fix one like yours. I have to say, the belly pan complaint is a little overblown. If you hit something big enough and hard enough to tear open your pan, you probably already hit it with your front tire. Pretty sure the tire is blown/shredded at that point. Whether or not you lose your oil at that point is probably not on your mind, but rather if your gear will hold up as you hit the pavement (or "Why wasn't I wearing my gear?"). At that point, your engine isn't under load and will be OK with low oil for a moment. Now, if you pick yourself up afterward and the engine is still running, you probably have a problem..... but by now, your precious bike is already totaled, so it doesn't really matter.
    Many of your other points at the end seem pretty legit, while a few shouldn't be provided as someone might have a personal preference that differs from yours (hence, "Making it your own.").
    Thx for the detailed review/slash explanation. I'm probably going to get me a tour DCT (used, let someone else cover the worst of the depreciation) and get the trunk removal kit (bagger, but with the extra goodies the tour gives you).

    • @robertwhitemoto
      @robertwhitemoto  Před měsícem +1

      I hear your point Mike but I’ve seen more than one example of a front tire just fine but that vulnerable element at the bottom of the engine being sheered off. And I rolled off a curb that hit the bottom pretty hard. I was thankful I had it. Keep researching, if you still or unconvinced by the time you get yours then I absolutely support you doing what you want with your bike for sure. Thanks for the kind words, and for watching.

I like my Utopia backrest & handlebars, but am considering some of the same upgrades you are thinking about. I believe there will be some big changes in the 2025 year model, which will be its 50th anniversary. For instance, adaptive cruise control, for which they have already obtained a patent. You are doing a great job, sir & I've enjoyed every one of your videos.

    This is the first real good look at the next Gen. GW short of going to a dealer for me. I have an 05 and to be honest with all the gadgets which are nice, I do not like the paddle shifters, lack of a clutch handle and toe shifter. Seems to be getting more away from a motorcycle than it should be. However, I have been the guy who breaks from tradition and ends up kinda liking the new stuff. I'm a Ret. motor cop and just can't stand the lack of control of an automatic Transmission for the reason you stated, for low speed control. I can imagine being in a smooth downward right curved offramp and have that thing shift a gear unexpectedly while leaning over. Thanks for confirming that issue for me. Your review is so right on point and I don't think you missed a thing. Again, thank you and keep doing what you're doing. Subscribed.

I'll tell you I'm 100% comfortable with the DCT now and downshifting in a slow turn is second nature to me now. I agree with you on the utopia backrest being tough on bumpy roads. Up here in the Northeast there is nothing but bumpy roads so I adjusted the backrest further back and I sit up straight when there are bumps (like at train tracks) so my back doesn't get the bumps transmitted to the spine. On smooth roads I sit back against it and it works fine. I have to admit my old Indian backrest was much better because it wasn't a wrap around design like the utopia.

    Robert, Great review!!! To bad some of the others aren't as good. I have the gray 2021 bagger, I have added most of what you have done to yours. And then some, belly pan was one of the 1st things I did. I agree with you on the back rest, also. We all have different ideas and or needs for our machines that's a given. I added a giving 56 trunk to mine and that has almost the same volume as yours, and I can remove it in a second. There are a few more things to do before the bike will be complete but THAT is part of owning this great bike... thanks again for the GREAT REVIEW/UPDATE.... PREPPING for Daytona already..

    Loved your review.
    One bone to pick. B4 I stick my foot in my mouth I have to say that I do not own the same bike as yours but I did have one years ago. Drop guards. My GL eventually gained on me and it went down like a sack of potatoes (at a stand still). As the bike fell to the ground numbers started running through my head I think I was at 2700 when the bike finally rested on its side. To my surprise the only bike parts touching the ground were the front and the rear OEM guards. My mouth dropped and it’s a moment I remember for the rest of my life. I think your model bike will do the same as mine. When the time comes.

    • @robertwhitemoto
      @robertwhitemoto  Před 3 měsíci

      Sally, I completely agree.. I think the stock bumpers (two on each side) would support the bike in a slow tipover... but there's a tipping point (no pun intended) where it will fall further than that, and that's when my new tipover protection guards might save the day :) Thanks for watching and commenting !!

    Wow! Nice thorough report Robert. Loved it. Spot on. Awesome! Your excitement and passion is very cool to witness. I totally agree with your findings and perspective of Honda’s premier sport touring motorcycle. I am also considering Traxxion’s tip-over protection kit. Your input could seal the deal for me. I did upgrade the windscreen to the well proven track record F4 20” in scratch resistant clear. With it’s unique recurve, directs wind up and over my head noticeably more effectively than the OEM windscreen. On the emergency brake. I found the E-brake doesn’t need a whole lot of tension to secure the bike sufficiently. I think the tendency is for people to over crank on the E-brake lever which prematurely stretches the cable much more quickly. But you do what makes you feel most comfortable as you walk away. I would also consider Traxxion’s over size kickstand pad for those parking scenarios on soft hot pavement or loose gravel. Well worth it. Crafted with Traxxion’s perusal high quality. Horn button: I regularly practice throughout my rides to locate the horn button to be able to actuate with “unconscious competence” quickly and smoothly by differentiating from the turn signal. As I move through intersections or through and past vehicle blind spots I’m on the ready as the horn also actuates my super bright Clearwater driving lights to a whopping 20k lumens. Driver floor boards for me are Gold Strike. Love them. As are a number of accessories. When you see my bike might help give you some food for thought. Well done here my brother. Thank you for taking the time to produce this. Best to you.

      Hey Road Glide, not sure what happened to your first comment (and my response) to this video, but days later an almost identical comment from you showed up... So first and foremost thank you for ALWAYS supporting my channel, for watching and commenting !! The F4 windshield is definitely in my future, Cruiseman has one and I've seen it. Looks great. Great points on the E-brake as I am one of those over-crankers ... I'll monitor that going forward. I did not realize Traxxion had a kick stand pad, I'll go check that out. I need to see your driving lights.. I've caught a glimpse of them in other people's videos. Ride Safe my friend and I will see you soon.

    Great thorough honest review Robert. I love new technology, but on the other hand it scares the crap out of me, when there are so many things that can go wrong that I can't fix. Maybe being 65 makes me a little to "old school", but I like to be able to trouble shoot things and make my own repairs. Chris of CG was hinting about how just jump starting the bike could short out the radio system that isn't covered by the warrantee... I think if you spend that much money on the bike, it should be covered front to back for at least 5 years under the warrantee ... IMHO..

    • @robertwhitemoto
      @robertwhitemoto  Před 5 měsíci

      I agree completely. For this much money it's got a lot of weaknesses... and yet, I would spend the money again. I love the way this thing rides, the things it does right it does really right... and because I am old the comfort is top notch , especially when I can afford to change the seat (and spend another dozen franklins).

    Robert you and I bought our 2023 ‘Wings at about the same time. Only difference is I’m in Wisconsin and you’re in Texas. You need to put more miles on! I agree with most of what you said and I love my DCT Goldwing. I came from a K1600 GTL and I liked that bike a lot. In fact I had 4 of them but I needed a change and went to Honda. You missed something on your want list and that is removable saddle bags and trunk. I came to really appreciate those on my Beemers especially for airing up tires or cleaning the rear wheel. Removable bags are also great after a long day of riding and unloading at a motel. Especially in the rain! Did I mention a touch screen on the dash? Nice review Robert. Ride safe.

    Very informative and interesting review. I’m seriously considering purchasing one of these wonderful machines in the very near future. The wife has already agreed to this after she experienced a test sit on the rear seat. Happy wife = happy life. I thought that the list of negatives was interesting. The home link button doesn’t really concern me, kinda bit of a first world issue. The navigation system, absolutely agree with you 100%. Hell, Honda themselves install better systems in their own cars, they have the ability. Blind spot monitoring, really? Y’know that neck thing that the head sits on, it allows the head to turn so that the eyes can see.
    I’m 60 and been riding since I was a very young kid. Currently drive a heavy truck and dislike drivers relying on technology rather than using their own eyes and judgment.

      Swamp, yeah the blind spot monitor is a stretch and the easiest thing for me to say well ok don’t really need. My cheap little mirrors do the job reallly well. If you’ve watch my channel for any length of time you know I have neck disc issues that make it difficult to ride for long periods of time (I just can’t give it up) … that was the genesis of the request. Be safe, and thank you for watching! Keep us updated on that pending purchase.

    2 suggestions: stop marking your seat by using pegs to mount the bike so you can step over the seat better; works for me. Flip the seat rest toward the rear of the bike when you don't want to use it, unless you have a pillion rider. PS: Caliente also has good videos.

    Great, thorough review! Question… I have a 23 GW DCT and I am considering doing the Carlink wireless CarPlay together with the quad lock wireless charger mount. While it’s been widely discussed that leaving your phone in the cubby for extended periods of time, especially on hot days, can potentially overheat your phone, what has been your experience with the Carlink wireless adapter being in there and running. Does it get hot? Are you concerned about that unit potentially overheating?

      Scotty great question and I want to give an accurate answer and that is.. I've never touched the Carlin Kit device inside the box, and I don't know that I've had it long enough to be in the very heat of the summer. I will say that once you configure the Carlin Kit device to start up 30-60 seconds after receiving power (bike turns on) it connects reliably with my phone each time. Cruiseman has a video out on how to change those settings. We will learn together this summer if the Texas heat has any impact on the device and its operations. For now I am very happy.

      Just a thought. I take the garage opener off my truck visor and put it in the gas cap opener cubby when I ride. Saves money on the homelink and is locked in the cooler cubby when off the bike. When I'm done with the GW I pop it back onto the truck visor. You might be able to get a duplicate opener for less than the homelink with install time.

    Happy New Year Robert! Loved the video and must say one of the best and it covers so much. Didn’t even feel like an hour. Couple of questions. I’m not a big guy either and wondered if the bike feels a bit intimidating at stops and at slow speeds for you. I’m only 5’6” with about a 28” inseam. I can’t flat foot the GW mainly due to the wide seat but think I could probably handle due to the fact it’s so well balanced. I have no issue getting it up off the stand. I have never owned such a big bike or actually ridden one but still plan on purchasing. Can you flat foot it? Any issues at stops, etc? Also, could you do a quick demonstration video of getting yours on the center stand? I’ve watched Max’s and others but would like to see your demo on this. Thanks so much for your reply if possible and keep up the great content! Greg

    • @robertwhitemoto
      @robertwhitemoto  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Greg! Happy New Year to you as well. Great questions here Greg and I too struggled with this decision before I purchased. I could easily flat foot my Honda VTX1800 but when I learned the seat hight and width on the Goldwing I was concerned. To be specific to your question, in normal shoes I cannot flat foot the bike. I am 5'9" with what I think is about a 31" inseam. I have found that good riding boots with a large heal helps that tremendously. ALL of that however, I'm comfortable on the bike and putting one foot down seems to control the bike very well at stops. If the wind is kicking up, I'll tip-toe both feet and that works ok as well. Definitely test drive before you buy, but also know you will get more comfortable with the bike as you ride it, so the test drive should not give full weight to your decision. Greg great suggestion on getting the bike up on its center stand. I absolutely will do that video. Greg where are you from ? Thank you for watching and commenting.

    • @Greg-Backgammon
      @Greg-Backgammon Před 6 měsíci

      Robert, thanks for the reply and info! I definitely will plan on a test drive first. I currently own a Kawasaki Z650 and can’t flat foot it either, even with my riding boots with heels! lol😂. However it’s nearly 300 pounds less! I really don’t think it’ll be an issue but it’s just so big and intimidating looking. Previously owned a Yamaha V Star cruiser and had no issues with it but as you know cruisers sit much lower. I’ve truly wanted a GW tho for about 20 years and when the 6 Gens came out I really started to think it might be possible. I’m getting up there in age, 59, and now looking for more touring and comfort in my riding and the DCT Tour sold me! BTW, I’m from Kansas City. Thanks again for your videos and response. You should really be proud of your channel. One of the best out there. Looking forward to your center stand video! Greg

    Hey RObert Can I ask you a question. ive been shooting with the 80 D canon. Resently I bought the canon R6 Mark2 My question is I have to have my Iso higher on my mark2 then my 80D. could it be that I have the adapter on the mark2 so I can use my dlsr Lenses. do you think that might be the cause.?

    • @robertwhitemoto
      @robertwhitemoto  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes absolutely… a lens adapter add space even if small, and it absorbs light so a higher ISO might be necessary. Also the R6 is designed to work with the aperture blade configuration present in RF lenses… using an EF lens will be different, possibly even the number of aperture blades. I wouldn’t worry about … these newer cameras R5 & R6 can produce much cleaner images with higher ISOs. Good Shooting !!
