  • How did magic get into the Witcher Universe? In today's video I talk about the conjunction of spheres and all the lore behind it. Most still consider this a theory but after the events of the Witcher 3 the conjunction of spheres is shown to be true. I also talk about how human's got into the Witcher world. There's a piece of information that I completely forgot where it came from about humans' origin in the Witcher world. It was said that some were actually from OUR world, people from the Netherlands, Spain, and nations in the exploration era. And they were kind of fell to this Witcher world.
    There was this other information, probably a bit of a stretch, but could possibly confirm of OUR world and the Witcher world 'meet' in a story where Ciri jumped between universes, running from Eredin, she happened to jump to OUR world at the time of The Black Plague. She was infected, but didn't get ill, and jumped to HER world (the Witcher world), and brought the Catriona Plague. And it was said that the Catriona was basically Pest Plague, from our world.
    Anyway, great video and analysis. Keep up the good work.

    All the events of the Witcher happened, but in a parallel universe from ours. We’re the humans that didn’t get flung into the Witcher universe, and subjected to the influence of magic or monsters 🤔🤨👀

  • @HaragothNAR
    @HaragothNAR Před 6 lety +28

    I don't know if this was added by CDPR, but in the book, The World of the Witcher: Video Game Compendium, it is said that humans were introduced into the world that The Witcher takes place in through the conjunction as well. It ways that they then subjugated the races that were either there before or had come previously in another conjunction, its been a while since I read it so I can't remember which one. Either way, the whole thing that other races came into a world already inhabited by humans is a myth created by humans. Again, I don't know if that's something that was added by CDPR or not, but I thought it worth mentioning as it really changes a lot of that world's "origin story" as well as that of humans.

    I believe humans was "imported" in the Witcher planet from our medieval times.
    Around the world nations describe same monsters by a close similar names while having no connection to each other.
    I am sure those portals went both ways with maybe differently flows.
    I still hope one day they will make a MMORPG of Witcher maybe after Witcher 4-5 somewhere in the distant future like 400-500 years later after Ciri "choosed Ciri because she's younger and maybe she will outlive the rest" with a other clash of the world's.

      From what i remember having read the books the only intelligent race that is actually native besides gnomes is the mimics (Dopplers) being able to mimic was one of their defence mechanisms. But because they look so different they were given no chance by humans unlike other races. Even though most mimics hardly have a mean bone in their bodies.

  • @demonickiller6315
    @demonickiller6315 Před 4 lety +5

    The parallel universes would mean that there are humans native to many different universes. essentially millions and millions of worlds like ours but with minute differences. In effect, if we travelled to one parallel universe, you could be exactly the same and the world is exactly the same, but with the difference that, say, woolly mammoths didn't go extinct. I don't know how this possible real-world phenomenon translates to The Witcher, but some real-world scientists have *theorized* that parallel universe could "collide" with one another, sending aspects of their universe into ours and vice versa

    I don't remember is it in the book or in the game, but Ciri or Avallach mention something about each star in the sky is another world. So I don't think it's a parallel universe. I think it's another planet in another solar system. Beside, if it's a parallel universe, Ciri may have mention that she found another Redania or Temeria or Cintra. She may even met another version of Geralt or Yennefer who's not a witcher or Sorceres.

  • @WastelandSeven
    @WastelandSeven Před 6 lety +89

    Hard to say. If there are multiple parallel worlds, then there are multiple races of humanity. Or maybe I should say humanoids. Lets put it this way, the elves, the humans, and the dwarves and such like all share a humanoid body structure. So maybe the we're all just variations of a humanoid form. (or elvenoid or dwarvenoid, take your pick)
    (yeah, I know what the elves would say, but, if we weren't variations on the same baseline species would humans and elves be able to mate successfully? Almost certainly not. So....)

    to be honest.. i kinda want to know if the world can be expanded. the conjuction basically tell us shit gets mixed into a giant pot and that becomes the new reality but i think it would be pretty cool if new things come from new worlds or things in our world goes into that one. that we get a witcher game where we are in a differnet universe with different creatures who look similar but evolved differently. i kinda also want a game where the witcher clans are coming back due to a new prophecy of a new conjuction. kinda like how we had to raise a army in dragon age inquisition the witchers have to make a army of their own. it could be this whole cold war that we know its gonna happen and everyone is preparing to use the choas to their advantage but plot twist we dont think about is that the other worlds are also preparing to come thru. while the wild hunt has the ability to go back and forth these new threats have to rely on old natural methods.

    This might be almost a 3yrs old video on one of the most amazing PC Games ever, but something will happen on December 21st, 2020 (on the winter solstice) that astronomers call 'the Conjunction' or 'the Great Conjunction' where Jupiter and Saturn become almost perfectly aligned as viewed from Earth. The last such Conjunction was in 2000 (they happen every 20yrs roughly), but what is special about this one, this will be close to a perfect alignment. You'd have to go way back to March 04th, 1226 to see a closer alignment between these objects visible in the night sky. The last time Jupiter and Saturn came this close was in 1623, but that Conjunction was too near the sun to be seen by Earthlings.
    Of course we can't forget the 2012 winter solstice Mayan Calendar myth of the supposed end of our world, which obviously was not correct.
    So, maybe, just maybe, some of the Witcher world's 'Conjunction of the Spheres' lore isn't that far out of own reality. Something to think about.

    Literally anything and everything can be dumped into the world even things that make no sense. Monsters, Fantasy creatures, mundane animals, beings of pure magic and stuff.
    Its such a clever idea for a creation story that leaves near infinite possibilities and can be expanded at anytime.
    And also gives a great storytelling reason why something like a medieval level society has advanced concepts such as parallel universes, evolution, Mutation, Darwinism,
    Even alot of the magical research and invention we see in the series follows the scientific method. Just fantastic.

    I wish the biggest plot hole in Witcher Universe's mythology would be addressed.
    That is: How did this world and universe (and multiverse) exist before magic was integrated with Geralt's world?
    It seems this planet/universe would have had to have been like ours, before Magic existed.
    Science based, not magic based.
    Therefore, Geralt's world should have progressively evolved in scientific development, on a very similar track with ours, before the 1st Conjunction occurred. It would seem magical and scientific development should have evolved together.
    Something similar to the Star Wars universe, but with far less technological progression.

    • @wntrtmpst2500
      @wntrtmpst2500 Před 4 lety +4

      i know this is old, but my way of looking at it is that they arent "humans" as we are. The witcher lore states multiple worlds and universes, maybe the humans were thrown from one world to another, to start with nothing, its canon that the continent was previously elven, and that the elvish claimed humans are post conjuntion as well. There could even be multiple versions of humans as the we could have been thrown into many different worlds, "the first landing" could have been just that. A landing from some magic or cosmic teleportation or however the conjunction worked. And overtime the truth faded into legend and obscurity. Similar to the wild hunt and how they went from ghosts to actual knights between the first and second games, at least in depiction.

    but the conjunction of spheres sounds much like how the Milky way and Andromeda galaxies are set to collide in the very far future. I can't help but think that andrzej sapkowski used this theory to create the "Conjunction of the Spheres". I'm quite new to the Witcher series as I've only played the witcher 3 and I'm merely on the 4th book starting from "the last wish" without "season of storms". I may be really behind but this is just my theory of what "The Conjunction of the spheres" is as I'm relatively new to the series.

    Maybe Cyberpunk 2077 is our world and later on in that world humanity evolves enough that we destroy our own world either from war or the exhausting of resources. Then the conjunction happen and thus the remnants of humanity land in the Witcher world and voila, we get the humans in the Witcher Universe. That being said, if taking into account a chronological timeline, the story of Geralt takes place about 2,000 or so years in our current future.

    If you look into any major story, any major plot both fictional and non-fictional, you'll notice that at the center... or "conjunction" of that massive clusterfuck is a single person. Group? Maybe. Supporters, followers, worshippers, etc. But. There is always that "one" person at the tip of the idea.
    I like to think that this Conjunction of the Spheres were orchestrated by one of those idiots who thought it'd be funny to make one massive blender of all that works and all that doesn't and then see what comes out of it.
