When I first read the title , I was instantly reminded of teenage hangovers from white lightning

Beautiful build. May I suggest that you display the stills for your closing waffle? Gives one a little bit mor time to admire the bird.

    Awesome work!
    All that masking is crazy!
Not so sure I care for the color scheme, but it could grow on me?

Hi Jen, it looked lovely at the Avon show, a unique scheme and clearly a challenge to mask but in the end it's an impressive bird!

It reminds me of a stormtrooper more than anything else... 🙂
Hopefully you got yourself a good share of meditation while doing all that masking.
In any case it was therapeutic for me watching you!

Ahah, an Empire Lightning! Therapeutic up to a point, yes - but in all honesty the amount of masking on this one went a little beyond therapeutic lol

Nicely finished model... I'm not so sure about the white scheme though, makes it look toy like - just personal preference. It might actually look really good in that mint green primer that they come with on the assembly line... that's different and I've never seen it modelled like that before either. Keep up the good work!

Really enjoyed watching this. Predominantly an Armour and Diorama builder but plan on focusing 2024 to aircraft builds. I really like what you have done with this, makes a very nice visually interesting model. Great job all round.

It does look great in that scheme, but the kit looks to be several stages behind the Tamiya F-35 - even though that's the 'A' version. The fit of the Tamiya is ridiculously good, the weapons bay detailing is superb; whereas from photos I've seen of this Italeri kit, and from having built the 1/72 Italeri F-35B, the weapons bay is just mirrored, unlike the Tamiya which is individual detailing/wiring/piping on each side.
I also think the Tamiya RAM-Tape is far more subtle; it could do with being even flatter, but it looks so far to be the best of all 1/48 F-35s out there on that detail alone!!
As for fit, I can't comment on this Italeri version; their 1/72 kit went together surprisingly well, with no filler needed. I used the new AK Gen3 Haveglass acrylic paint (with the AK gen 3 thinner) and it airbrushed beautifully and looks very close to what I see on the F-35As flying in & out of RAF Lakenheath on a daily basis (I work there) - it needs a slight hint of a brown in there in some lighting conditions though!
Hell, that Haveglass is a bloody difficult colour to work out - you see it in one light it looks almost silver, in another, it's dark grey, and in another, it's got that silver/grey/brown thing going on!! 😆
I love that scheme though that you used Jen; there are some photos online of a white F-35; it has very rough matt white overall with ragged looking RAM tape in grey: I think it was a prototype from some years back, so your scheme looks like a tidied-up version of that, and ideal for use in a what-if display team scheme! 😉

Great F-35 finish there Jen and excellent tips at every stage.!.That really looks special!..Forgive me if I’ve said before but any manufacturer that releases a 1/48 F-35 without the badly over the top raised ram tape will blow the competition away(Airfix if your listening)..In this Italeri missed the trick..Looking at videos of the aircraft in flight you don’t see any raised anything.!
Thanks again Jen and all the very best.✌️🥸👍

It's certainly there on the real thing, with a very obvious thickness too it, but it's the sharp edges that make it look terrible on the kits.

Hello this is under my step mums name and me and my dad watch your videos my fathers subscribed to your channel and we enjoy your videos i really love how with your videos when ever you do a giveaway its just not on the title for those dingus people out there but anyway im 9 and building a ICM Mk.VIII WWII british fighter spitfire meanwhile when im not working on my spitfire I make a crane from leftover sprew gates, while at school im the only one that wants to be a water bomber pilot and work in the air force because flying is just majestic thank you for reading.

Loving that livery no end. 😍 If I ever build an F-35, I am going to borrow your idea. That standard grey scheme looks too boring to me too. Yours would also look great next to an Airfix TSR-2 model on the display shelf.

Lovely Jen. I'd go with your final thought and maybe do the 'tape' in a lower contrast colour - maybe one of the tan radome colours? Or a much lighter grey (light ghost grey?)

I feel your pain with canopies. It’s the thing i struggle with the most. And when i finally get them right there is always some sticky material or light clouding on the clear parts. I guess I’ll borrow some wd40 from my dad. Thanks for the tip. Great video as always. (Btw i knew deep in my heart you were probably going to paint this kit. I am glad italeri is stepping up their result/price ratio even if they are far from tamiya or eduard level of quality or fidelity).

Has the ak black widow glue been discontinued? i cant seem to find it in stock online anywhere, it's a shame too, it gets a lot of praise and i'd really like to try some. I recently discovered the advantages of super glue filling from your book of jenesis tutorial and despite being an intimidating technique to approach ive had fantastic success with it so far.

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  Před 11 měsíci

I don't think so, it might just be that batch has sold through. I did a google search and see it listed in quite a few places ... I'm sure there are other black superglues available that are equally decent.

Yay feeling special now LOL well its different, but you accomplished what you set out to do. Like the white, grey tape work topside looks good but underside personally think too much(my opinion) tails maybe as the tornado be black??? same decals ??? but overall be proud and its defiantly a one off no one else has done to my knowledge....... F22 antiflash white maybe???

I understand your rationale since the kit isn't altogether accurate.
Did you consider the peppermint green unpainted version before settling on the glacier mint white?😊

I wanted to do an F-22 like that a few years ago, I'm surprised it didn't pop into my mind this time now you mention it

Absolutely stunning model. You have a lot of skill.
Biggest problem for me is that the downwards tilted nozzle is only going to happen during VTOL and would be immediately raised thereafter to avoid jet blast damage to the deck and possible thermal/FOD blow back into the delicate bits of the lower fuselage.
If you want to do that, put it on a stick over a bit of decking.
    czcams.com/video/sIXOYVQIQok/video.html
Or go with the STO mode with the nozzle at 45` or so. Maybe throw in a RAM MANTIS deck tractor.
Also, when you have a British jet, it really should have British ordnance. SPEAR-3 and Meteor and ASRAAM all sound good and are available through the likes of Shapeways.
Italeri is just being Italeri I'm sorry to say. Unfortunately, what was acceptable in the 40 dollar price range (their JAS-39 is actually an easier build than the Kittyhawk) is completely whackadoodle in the 70 dollar one. If they want to pretend to be Tamiya, they need to be doing Tamiya level work and that means things like unibody fuselages with integrated wings and much better control over surface detail and sink marks.
Still, nothing on you or your build. Another masterpiece for the case I'd say.
Suggestion: Tamiya F-35A in the new 'Chrome Ghost' scheme?

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  Před 11 měsíci +1

It's just for fun, so accuracy isn't really something I was worried about on the level you are describing. On a side note, I did see the RAF one at Fairford (RIAT airshow) on departures day. As part of the warming up and checks process, the pilot rotated the nozzle through the full range of movement, blowing grass all over the place!
I wasn't familiar with the Chrome Ghost, so I looked it up. It looks amazing but I think I'll pass on trying to replicate that one .....
