    Lasik surgery for vision correction is also very dangerous. The eyes become very vulnerable and with a small poke in the eye, a person can go blind. Even without injury there is a high risk of growth of epithelial cells under the flap created. There are tones of videos on youtube showing the chronic cases of epithelial cells in-growth problem. I almost lost vision of my right eye after hit by the nail that didn't penetrate, as I had lasik done 3 years ago.

      i completely agree with you. LASIK is a horrible surgery. especially considering it is elective and not a medical necessity. I had it done thinking it was much safer than it was. It has been the biggest regret of my life. The risk of complications is not worth it. Don't play with your eyes, they are too precious. Had I known what I do now, I would have never done it. Thinning of the cornea is not safe. Dry eyes are very common and the tears provide nutrition to the cornea as it is not vascularized. This essentially starves the cornea of proper nourishment.

    Why can't you clone a person own corneal and then replace the damaged corneal with the cloned corneal.

    i have keratoconus the biggest struggle in my life. cant we create a new cornea using stem cells from the patient?

    • @cbeyedr
      @cbeyedr  Před 8 lety +1

      Multiple things are happening in corneal surgery, eg., transplanting different layers of the cornea, full thickness or just endothelium. The stem cell transplants in the recent news were limbal, for regrowing the surface layer. I know people are trying to regrow whole tissues, but I don't know where they are on corneas. Collagen cross-linking is developing tech targeted for stabilizing keratoconus. Best resource is if you have access to a cornea specialist.

      +Craig Blackwell yes thats an option i have been presented with to have collagen crosslinking but it wont improve my vision but just slowdown bulging of the cornea.the contact lenses gives my crystal clear vision but it so uncomfortable plus it limits my vision field kinda blind spots.

    Will the cataract or scar come again after success of surgery ?? Thanks

    • @cbeyedr
      @cbeyedr  Před 4 lety

      This is refractive surgery, the aim is to change glasses prescription, usually myopia. The eye is healthy, without a scar or cloudy lens, which would be addressed by different surgeries.
