Organizational maintenance is basically taking a part off and replacing it with a new one. It also encompasses removal and replacement of the engine on the aircraft, low and high power turn ups, and anything that deals with fuel and hydraulics that’s on the engine as well as fuel tank issues. At least that’s what it was when I was in! What you showed was a lot of Intermediate maintenance. There are or were 3 levels of maintenance: Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot level.

I was a 12B in the Army when I was a kid in the late 80 before the wars. If I was to do it all over again I would have been a turbine mechanic in the Navy. Seems like a lot of busy work and technical work at the same time. I really enjoy that kind of work. It’s somehow rewarding to learn the intricacies of these things. They are engineering marvels. I enjoy reading about them to this day.

Being an aircraft technician myself, amazes me how these technicians don't wear eye protection or gloves. Is it not mandatory in the military?

I see you're using proper words more often. Good for you! It's good to raise morale.

Hand and eye injuries are the most common injuries found in industries. Having been in the Navy and Army National Guard, I find it hard to believe that no one is wearing safety glasses during the maintenance. While a real pain in the ass for fogging it was mandatory in the shipyards. It was also mandatory in the nuke plants I worked at as a civilian. They do work.
