If you enjoyed this vlog, I took the train thirty minutes south to explore another city. You can find it here.

Been there in may and I was totally surprised. I loved the neighbourhoods in the south with the pre-war-architecture. And it was overall so clean and modern… Chorzow and Gliwice also shocked me… I mean that positive. Zabrze however…

What? Chorzów is the worst city in Poland by far, and no park is able to change that

Thank you for taking me to this walk. If you like parks there is much bigger one in Katowice- the Silesian Park. It’s truly awesome. All the best in your travels!

As to the cool building at 10:30, if memory serves me right it was built around 1910. It’s definitely not Art déco, as it does not resemble that style and was built before Art déco became more widespread in architecture. I would say it represents Art nouveau with a very distinct touch of Wilhelminism. When that building was built Katowice was part of Prussia, in the German Empire.

    • @TravelwithMrJon

@jurgenrudiger thanks for adding this bit of information. I don't claim to be an expert on the styles so this is good to know. A cool building indeed!

7:05 The monuments are dedicated to 3 Silesian Uprisings dated: 1919, 1920 and 1921 (one wing per uprising). As a result of the last of them, east part of Upper Silesia was connected to Poland.
