The catchyness of the song also captures something, when the Nazi's arouse into power they would use vivid speeches propaganda and fashion to entice people into joining or supporting, when i played this for a friend once they didn't pay much attention to the lyrics or what they were saying, they were bobbing they're head to it in enjoyment, they turned blue when I told them it was singing about the rise of the Nazi's, I feel the catchyness of this song captures that evil always wears a smile and if your not careful you'll fall right into its trap, evil will glamorize itself, this song is a work of art Sabatons is the best history teacher in my opinion
I've always loved art and literature that not only talks about something but also really makes you feel like you were doing the subject of it in a way, perfectly illustrates my thoughts

Best Sabaton song by far in my opinion. When i study the rise of the Nazi party I come back to this song as it evokes all the sinister feelings and foreshadows the terror that would come to pass. It is important that we never make the same mistakes again and remain ignorant of the rise of evil.
It should also be emphasized that what one learns from history is that man has never learned from history. So yes. You must have history books to prevent it... and also weapons of war to fight it when it comes back, because it will come back....
This along with Wehrmacht and Panzerkampf are some of my favorite non-Carolus Rex album songs (all of those obviously take the top), I think Rise of Evil is pretty underrated considering how amazing the riffs are.

This comes right after Versailles in my playlist. Really makes the "something is lurking in the dark" line from Versailles and the references to the treaty in this hit really hard.
I think those two are meant to be played side by side. TBH I kinda wish Sabaton made a remaster that would seamlessly tie to Versailles, but welp... Media illiterate people would be all over their throats for "praising the nazis" or something.

AC Doyle wrote in one of the Sherlock Holmes stories that art in the blood is liable to have the strangest outcomes. The Sunday newspaper magazine Parade once put his architectural drawings on their cover, and inside story. The watercolor drawings were excellent, but as a commentator pointed out, the people in the drawings looked more like cartoons, as if he didn't view people as human.
I find the marching hilarious now, (in a good way) because of how Joakim said it was created.

Tell me, have you ever heard about how The Emperor in Star Wars treated Darth Vader? My relationship with this "friend" was like that. We were close in middle school. That's why I stuck with him afterwards. Even though his schizophrenia made him about as sane as any of Hitler's inner circle. He'd constantly put me down, belittle me, Hell, I'm pretty sure he even stole some money from me at some point. He even got one of his other slightly less (but not by much) toxic friends to harass me and my family for shits and giggles. After a while I just cut him completely out of my life. But the mental and emotional scars he left me during my college and post college years will likely never truly go away. Sabaton became my solace. My escape. It helped me write some of the chapters of a book I ended up getting published. I'm sorry for rambling, but I honestly think you deserved to know just how much I needed to emphasize "EX" in "Ex-Friend" in my previous post... Thanks...

Back when I was in highschool I interviewed my neighbor who was in the first SS division (liebstandarter Adolph Hiller). It was for a history paper on WW2. Most of what he told me I couldent put in the paper. He served on the russian front.

Don't think I've seen the original but have seen one someone put together using clips from the 2003 "RISE OF EVIL" miniseries. Only later relatively recently (about 8 years or so) I ended up seeing it. I would hear the overture of Sabaton during certain scenes when watching. Was a perfect pairing.

Sabaton never disappoints with its songs
For those who don’t know the context: the inscription in the background “arbay mach fry” (work sets you free) is the famous, mocking phrase on the gates of Auschwitz-Birkenau 2, better known as the nearby Polish city of Oswenzhim.”
This is the worst German concentration camp in history. Between 1942 and 1945, about 1.2 million prisoners were killed there. Mostly women and children from the USSR.
You will understand this better if I say it differently - more than a thousand people died here every day for three years.
Many of them (mostly children) were killed in the senseless and monstrous experiments of “Dr.” Mengele.
The West increasingly likes to tell how cruelly the unfortunate, innocent German prisoners were treated. They are surprised why the Soviet people hate any manifestation of Nazism so much.
But something else surprises me. I am surprised that after finding this hell, there were any Germans left alive in Soviet captivity, and the captured SS officers were not torn alive on the spot.
I haven't encountered anyone surprised that Soviet people hate nazis. We all hate nazis. What do you mean by this?
With all due respect but the hell would what captives have to with anything that happened in Auschwitz? Would it have been better to become equally monsterous and torture the captives? Would that bring back the dead? Would that make your moral compass feel better if you do exactly the same thing as the enemy? (reminder the allies aren't innocent either, and let's not forget how the allies turned a blind eye to the stuff Japan was doing, but let's keep beating this deadhorse of "Germans bad")

Hitler is just one man, a man who never accepted defeat, who couldn't bear to see his country humiliated, who like 3/4 of the world was brought up to hate the Jews and be a nationalist, it could have been literally anyone, but this man who came out of nowhere embodied the anger of an entire people, and in his hatred led the world into hell, it's fascinating and frightening.

This song is amazing!! It's almost like the embodiment of Hitler's rage and hatred. Seriously powerful song, they should play this in history classes when they go over the holocaust; it would help emphasize that there were those who didn't think what they were doing was wrong, while also showing what the outside was seeing at the same time.
