Andrej - this is probably one the best videos you’ve ever made - covers so many points that I talk about when I am teaching new players how to play better - and will be pointing a lot of people in the direction of this video!!
Being brand new to the game, this video was awesome and I'd love to see more like it! I really appreciate the broad explanation of the specific runner and corp's general game plans.
This is the kind of content I always searched for. There's so little for beginners in this game... As a lifelong Magic player, I find it very hard to understand how to play with Corp optimally. This helps (stuff like what ice to play where etc). So much of this game is knowing what your opponent may have, so if I could suggest something it would be not only do these kind of videos, but an overview of what Corp should expect when playing against each faction, etc. Like what Icebreaker should I be generally worried if opp is playing Criminal or whatever and how to play against the threat of them having it, etc. But anyway, I liked this a lot, keep'em coming.
Thanks Fernando! I'll definitely be making more content like this going forward, especially for the upcoming System Gateway. I'll try and shoutout whatever cards I reckon are worth expecting and playing around. Glad this sort of content has been finding you well!
Thank you for this video! Having come back to the game after an eternity, I'm basically relearning everything. This not only helps with learning the game mechanically and in regard to the flow of the game but also in terms of psychology (why you play the cards you do and when). This was extremely helpful and done at a speed that allows us to take it all in. Looking forward to the next ones. Will you be showcasing every Corp and Faction? Thanks again!
Hey Steeve! I'm trying to figure out the specifics of the format. I want to cover every single faction/ID in System Gateway. From there I need to figure out whether we want to jump straight to Standard, or take a pitstop first at Startup - NISEI's new limited formatted with a more restricted cardpool. Glad you've been digging the piece! More to come!
I am getting back into the game after playing a lot in college with a housemate's core set and am now finally buying my own (of course after the game has been discontinued). Needed this as a refresher
Glad you're getting back into it! If you haven't heard about Project NISEI and their new System Gateway foundational set, I'd highly recommend giving it a look. It's the best new-player experience Netrunner has ever had.
Definitely interested to watch something like this again for the startup, new to netrunner, and watching something like this with cards I know would be super useful.
Hey Andrej, this has been very useful for people I introduce to the game. In case you care to expand on this or do this with Gateway Decks, again, I think many would love this. In any case, thank you so much for doing what you do. You breathe a lot of life into this beautiful game. Thank you.
Hey Monas! It's been a shame that I haven't got back to this video format, but it's something I'd definitely like to do in the future. I'm glad you've been enjoying the content, and thanks so much for taking the time to leave the kind feedback. Cheers!
It's worth saying - if there's anything that you struggle to follow, don't hesitate to leave a comment, or ask if it's during a livestream! I'm trying to keep things as approachable as possible, but we're not going to land it perfectly every time. Welcome to the game, eh.
@@MetropoleGrid oh for sure - its mainly cardpool knowledge that gets me. I think if there's a sprinkling of beginner content that you do then its great that you can just speak only in card titles for everyone who gets it!
This is really good! So helpful for beginners, and also as a refresher for someone like me, getting back in after a loooooong break. I especially like how you coined the term "monumentous." Nice!!! :D
Yes, yes, and yes! Thank you for this - and HEY THERE, FOLKS IN THE COMMENT SECTION, WHO ARE PICKING THE GAME UP RIGHT NOW ;-) (I'm not shouting, I'm just writing very big letters for accessibility, thanks for understanding)
It's about to be incredibly easy! Check out Project Nisei at nisei.net, who are just about to launch System Gateway, a standalone set of cards made as the perfect entry point to the game. There is a lot more information on their page, regarding other products and helpful resources. Nearearthhub.net is also a great compilation of community resources.
@@somegaijin42 of note we have moved on to some more interesting decks since we played this game. We started using the Diogenese Debutante decks and they are far more interesting. Skill level....only slightly improved I am sure :P
I remember the first like 5 times I played against core HB, I didn't understand really how the clicking through ICE worked. It would be interesting to know if these guys were in the same boat - the Fairie play suggests maybe?
Hey Andrew! I believe the runner clicked through parts of a Viktor 1.0 on R&D, so I'm guessing they understood the interaction. I'd reckon the Faerie, with so many 0's printed on it, looks like the ultimate cheap way to deal with a big Sentry. It's super easy to 'tunnel' on value like that.
@@MetropoleGrid Yes - the more the game went on the more I think they did get it they just really wanted to break! I played revised core for about a year with a room mate without really looking for much help with rules/strategy. I remember eventually when we did each time we came back to the table and was like - so I googled this card, we've been doing it all wrong!
Hey Andrej! With Gateway rolling out, do you have another one of these in the hopper with the new gateway duel decks? Would love to signal boost a video like that all over the place.
I'm hoping to acquire some more replays and get more content like this rolling. Right now I'm working through all of the reviews of System Gateway. I'll see if I can weave something in between, or we might have to wait until that wraps. This sort of content is definitely super valuable right now.
Wow that Replay idea is so cool! I'm very new and this would let me see what I may have missed, and what my opponent did, and in how many ways I was f'd.
Welcome to the game, Lystic! I highly recommend, if you're jamming games on jinteki.net, to always look over your replays. Definitely a tonne to learn.
Has netrunner had anything printed after Kampala ascendent? I stopped following after wizards took their IP back. Glad to see people are still playing 😁👍
FFG printed the deluxe expansion Reign and Reverie after the Kitara Cycle finished. It had a very small print run, and was incredibly hard to find at the time. They also released a small pack called Magnum Opus - a set of cards designed by past tournament champions. It never had an official retail release, but was given out at the last FFG World Championship, and released online in a print-and-play format. After FFG, NISEI has put out an entire cycle called Ashes, and they have System Gateway and System Update coming out at the end of the month. Check out nisei.net for more details!
I find this so infinitely intriguing but as an absolute newcomer honestly I'm completely confused by the myriad of releases this game had. Seeing decks from Core 2019, I mean what does even mean for me as a newcomer? I found out about NISEI and their line up of gateway + update +Ashen and I thought that is the best starting point. But hearing about decks with cards from the past..I still feel like I'm missing something crucial.
Hey Elqor! You have it right - NISEI's System Gateway, System Update 2021, and the Ashes cycle is by far the best starting point. This video is a bit old, and Netrunner organized play usually 'rotates' out older sets of cards every year, ensuring the card pool remains an approachable size. This video uses System Core 2019, which isn't a 'legal' product anymore. If you want more information, check out - nisei.net/players/supported-formats/ - for an explanation of the different formats. 'Startup' is by the far the best entry point, and a great time.
@@MetropoleGrid Thank you so much. I’m in awe of the quality of content you are putting out. I have much to learn but this place feels like home already. Thank you for that
Finally someone thinking to teach in deep how to play at beginner levels

Thanks notbilly! More to come for sure.
Such a good idea. This was the video my group needed when we started on Revised Core🤦🏻♂️
I've never heard commentary like this for Netrunner which I could follow and truly gleam any useful information from. Thanks, I really appreciate it.
That's really good to hear! I'm looking to revisit this type of content once I wrap up all the faction reviews. Glad you're digging it, eh!

More of this, please. But maybe choose games that end more abruptly due to error.

fundamentals is fundamentals right?
Is there a beginners community?
Yes, there totally is! Check out the Green Level Clearance Discord, the best Netrunner beginner's community. It's lovely! - discord.com/invite/D7TXzTv
Niceeee
you should remind people that a corp with 0-2 money can not rezz nasty ice, so having the corp at low money makes all unrezzed ice nonexistant
Totally! Another big reason why a good offense is often rewarded in this game.
I made that pad campaign mistake for months
It's an easy one to make! I specifically remember learning that interaction from the original FFG teaching video.
