    Great video. A couple of corrections though. There’s 6 types of tea. White, Yellow, Green, Oolong, Black, and post fermented (puerh). Also white tea isn’t the meat oxidized tea. That’s a common misconception. The least oxidized is actually green tea, since it goes through a heating process that is meant to deactivate the enzymes that cause oxidation, meaning its oxidation level are 0% to 1%. White tea does not go through that process, it is simply picked and withered and dried. Since the enzymes are still active, some oxidation does occur, some teas are very light, some other white teas are more oxidized ( 10% to 35%). The defining characteristic of white it’s not its oxidation levels, but the fact that it is the least processed type of tea. It’s basically just dried whereas green tea go through deactivation of enzymes, short withering, and for some rolling and pan or oven baking. Oolong are the most involved with many steps. Black need to be rolled in order or expose the enzymes for oxidation. Puerh needs to be lightly heated and then sun dried. Good luck in your tea journey!

      depends when you live really. I'd try Yunnan Sourcing. They also have a CZcams channel. Majority of my current teas are from YS.

    I usually keep 6 or so varieties of tea in the kitchen...mostly black and in several styles. My usual practice is to stagger down to the kitchen early in the morning, remove one of the very large mugs from the cupboard, fill it with tap water, toss in a tea bag (too early to bother with loose tea) and put the mug + bag in the microwave for 2 min. It will take an additional 2 min. to prepare my 1/2 bagel and that's just the right additional brewing time. Perfect for that time of day.

    it's not true that white teas need the lowest temperature....some of them can be brewed that way, like a delicate ya bao, but most recquire higher temperatures, some even close to bowling (white tea cakes for example, like pressed bai mu dan, especially aged ones). green teas can be brewed in a range from 55-90 degrees. depending on the region it is produced, with japanese ones the most delicate and yunnan green tea the most rustical.
    you can also try to brew chinese black tea with lower steeping time and/or temperature, in black tea processing, all the oils that are in the tea leaf are brought to the surface and don't recquire a lot of "force" to be diffused in the water.

    Hey Teabagged tea is not bad if you get the right kinds and dont oversteep it. Yogi tea is a good and commonly available example. I do agree tho TEA > COFFEE any day.

    Isn’t oolong the second most oxidized? I thought black tea was oxidized fully and oolong follows a repeated partial oxidation that renders some areas deeper black and other areas nearly green for a total of 40-60% oxidation and a more complex flavor.
    Also, have you tried Genmaicha? It’s a very toasty, novel experience. The Tao of Tea has really good leaves if you’re looking for specifically-sourced varieties of oolong :)

      @roblesoncrusoe9254 Před rokem

      it´s a myth that black te must be fully oxidized, some, like some dian hong and like some jin jun mei are not. the main difference between black tea and oolong is the processing

    • @agatawrze
      @agatawrze Před rokem +1

      I believe he said "least processed", not "oxidised", so ranking them that way oolong, even lightly oxidized one, has many more fancy steps of said processing involved than a black tea. I guess it was his logic? But then, you could argue the puer placement based on that premise... but I don't support tea types nitpicking ;)

    • @davinliuz
      @davinliuz Před 2 lety +1

      after finishing the first steep, you pour water at it again, to steep. But you steep less the more you steep to prevent the tea from being bitter
