It took a while but the trees are doing great. I’m not going to plant these for a couple years. I’m done planting seedlings. I have given a few trees away.
I also plant bloody butcher corn. I didn't plant any last year but since I got my new planter I'm going to plant a stand this year. I keep my seed year to year and it grows great
Good stuff How’s the white oaks you planted? We got some white oak and chestnut oak going here in a bed doing “air pruning” The tap root will hit air at 4-5” prune itself, then set off side roots. Easy to plant and no spiral tap root

Perfect!! That’s my plan also
Maybe you could get some chicken wire or hardware cloth to put over them so the squirrels can't get to them but would still let sunlight through
I am going to make a total frame with the hardware cloth for next year. Groundhogs can climb up anything it’s crazy
I got my Esch no till drill today. Will post video tomorrow
Can’t wait to see that sucker in action. All the Amish around me use those now. What’s the minimal hp tractor recommend to lift pull it?
Good stuff

My oaks are alive, but haven’t leafed out? Your system sounds good
Maybe try native soil from your properties. If an oak tree is growing nearby the soil will support it. I don’t use potting soil like you are using.
Gotta due some squirre[ huntin vids this fall (kill and cook)
Yes!
