- Assembly of my newest all-motor 10,000 rpm 4-rotor creation for customer Dr. Wayne Graham. This is a very special engine duplicating the legendary R26B (not RB26!) engine from the 787b. It uses a central the cooling method, just like the R26b from mazda. Other features are 3mm ceramic apex seals, extremely light rotors, dynamic balance, race bearings, billet side plates from PAC racing extensively modified, full peripheral porting,Custom CNC slide throttle assembly, custom external drysump system and new v-band exhaust flanges.

This guy is a legend! I want this engine for my fd3s. Rotary life will never be the same with this engine
I'm no legend, but appreciate the thought!
At this point do we need Mazda to come out with a new rotary engine or do we just need a new chassis for all of this new billet goodness ?!!! 😝😝
A new rotary engine that runs on gas and electricity should definitely be in the works 👍
Maybe as a hybrid Rx8 called The Rx8 FE
@@QuantumPlaysOfficial FE? Iron? That would be Fe
Plenty of chassis out there that can accept a rotary since they’re so tiny. I still wouldn’t turn down an RX7 reboot from Mazda though, too bad the engine would never pass modern emissions standards 😕
The photo with Mr amemiya at the end is very special ! Amazing work.
Isn't that Robs 4 rotor that was lost by UPS?
😂
Not even! Logan been building 4 rotors long before Rob got the itch.
@@rotaryperfection searching continues then
Wtf don't bring robs name in here, Rob is just a youtuber. Logan is the real deal clever engine building expert.
@@Skyrexx7 can't we just appreciate both of them?
@@fila1445 what makes you think we don't appreciate their content
Accidentally read the title as "4 Rotor *RB26* Clone" and went hmm for a minute
Had to look 3 times myself
Keepin the rotary community alive! Love this man 👍
Logan T-von here! Pretty ingenious with the center housing coolant mod. I can easily see the coolant traveling front and rear from the center for even heat exchange. Seems this mod more closely keeps the housing temps even front to rear.
Thanks man, I just copied Mazda. Anxious to see how it works in his race car
So freakin cool.man, you're so talented. Awesome to see
Thanks David!
If only Mazda loved rotaries as much as we all do...😭😭😭😭😭😭
They do.
@@efini_fc4276 REALLY...?! Then what are they doing about it...??
@@bryanp4827 The only thing I will say about them producing an RE right now is I'd like to see crate engines from them, built not for the street.
But beyond that...
They've accomplished and produced more than any of the top 10 rotary shops have ever done for the engine, put together... And a large amount of those shops wouldn't even be around without the Mazda-designed models in the first place.
If emissions weren't so tight, the engineering would be different and there would be plenty more of these engines filled with even more love, with a Mazda branding. I these guys don't build race cars more than they do passenger vehicles.
@@bryanp4827 They have been developing rotaries since the cosmo, and are still developing it to this day. Its just that emissions have to be lowered first, but they believe in it like a religion, its just insanely difficult if possible at all to develop an economicaly sensible rotary engine. They sort of got their will now as they announced that their new Electric Mx30 Will get a rotary range extender. But to repeat it once again. Mazda is still obsessed with their rotary engine, its just that it takes hella time to develop one that will work in the modern world. I do however agree that they can also just build race rotarys. however with company's like billet out there, whats the point.. They don't have the manufacturing capacity anyway
They're the reason you even have the opportunity to love them in the first place lol at the end of the day mazda is a business and they need to sustain themselves, while rotary powered cars are there claim to fame in the performance world in all practicality reciprocating engines are what pays the bills and gives them the opportunity to be able to design new generation rotary engines. Let's face it rotorys aren't the most emission friendly engines and trying to produce one for the mass market in this day in age is hard. Hopefully they do start selling another rotary powered car in the near future, but if they don't at least they left us with great platforms and engine designs to keep improving on.
Wow. Great overview of the incredible amount of work you did, Logan!
Appreciate it Ryan!
Defined AW at it again!!! Love to see more of those road track and dragon runs on the 4 rotor!
Thanks Logan for sharing your amazing work!
You're welcome!
Very nice to hang out with you for a bit Logan. Keep up the impressive work and congratulations on your successes.
Impressive build.
Awesome work Logan. I can’t wait to work with you on my project in the near future bud. Keep it up bro.
Yeah for sure, will be a great year with new collaborations!
Can i build a 26B using the rx8 plates and the 13b 1985 housing ?! And all the other custom parts like the e shaft, stationary gear, counter weight, the studs and solid dowel pins, the apex seal, and the other seals too...
Its Beautiful.....One day i will get one.
thanks for this video.
That water pump setup is trick!
It was satisfying to see, you guys definitely need some media help over there to properly catch this greatness tho.
Possitive i watched this exact assembly video a few years back
Sweet dreams are made of this...
Hopefully you are still going strong!!! I live in Columbus and I’m considering a rx7 build. I would love to stop out sometime and discuss!
The only 4 rotor that i want in my life
Rob Dahm just left the chat....
🤣🤣
Its just building of the engine, any cooling, any 4wd, any turbo, any setting up, just few pieces
I want this in a lada 2101 now
Any plans on having the running surfaces coated in cermet like the R26B?
Bro you are always pushing the limits love it very interesting differences between the legend 4 rotor vs most home brew pancake 26bz love the rota for life aloha from Hawaii amazing content !
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you bored two massive holes in the center iron of a 26B so that you could cool the front and back two rotors of the engine separately and more efficiently?
Sweet video, I suppose if we can't hear it purr the music will do. All of those rotors are 1 off billet pieces milled in CNC machine in house? That's talent. Do you have more than 1 4 - rotor ready to race?
Thanks! Just cnc lightened rotors, not fully from scratch. I don't have any 4-rotors on the shelf ready, too much overhead cost.
the R26B had a triple spark plug setup. are you just using the standard leading and trailing?
Question, are the rotors on a 4 rotor set 180 degrees apart from each other? And I was trying to tell from watching the build how they are staggered. Can you expand on that for me please? Also, I have a perfectly running '04 RX8 that I love. How much to put in a deluxe 3 rotor motor, upgraded clutch, and transmission? If I brought the car to you.
On the eccentric shaft itself rotor 1 and 2 are 180 degrees, 2 and 3 are 90 degrees, then 3 and 4 are 180 degrees. This works out to each rotor firing every 90 degrees. 20b full swap usually costs $35-40,000
Where is the adjustable length Intake trumpets? That the R26B had.
If the plates are by PAC what have you built?
Thank you.
Chevy guy myself, ya ya I know. These righteous spinning triangles are something else tho.
Hope u tune until sounds like 787b ☺️
The final count down.
do you have to set the rotor in a set poistion like a firing order when you assemble it
Yes indeed they do. A good observation. A 4 rotor clocks each rotor 90 degrees apart, and fires on the same events per crank rotation as a v8 actually.
I want to hear it run....😎😎😎
One question. How much?
Wanna R26B in my project...
How much does the whole engine weight ?
Hello, I am interested in acquiring a
eccentric shaft 26b complete
similar to how I make a 4 layer peanut butter jelly sandwich
is it ceramic apex seal?
So this is what powers the ships in Starwars
No locktite on the crankshaft cog pulley? Or the retainer? Or did you just not show that on the video? Personally for me anything which spins regardless of direction gets blue loctite....jus imo.
They got loctite. Always a good idea
where is 3rd spark plug?
I thought the R26B had three spark plugs though?
man this must have been a 100k motor... but I want one so bad, I'm 23 so mark my words, soon enough
was that Isami Amemiya checking out your 4 rotor?!
yeap that's Mr Amemiya!!!!
What's that pipe for anyone know looks like the bbq propane main line in lol
That is one of the scavenge tubes for pulling oil out to the external drysump oil pump.
Did I spot PAC plates 🇦🇺
Yep Pac. In the next part I go over the motor in depth
Where is 3-rd sparkplug?
Just wanna see it working and revving
Soon enough! Until then check out my other videos, this is a identical motor to what is in my race car (aside from central cooling)
She sure looks pretty
Are you the one doing the machining? I'm a machinist myself and want to start machining car parts.
I do basic manual machining. The cnc stuff is done by my machinist who I work with directly to make my unique ideas come to life.
@@GTORx7 Awesome. I'm always making parts for side projects on the manual machines at work, lots of fun. What do you think of getting into rotors as someone who's never touched them? I like the FD Rx7, but it seems like it's a 50/50 chance of many things going wrong or having to upgrade many aspects of the motor.
@@Nobody-dc8dp nothing to fear. Just dont lean it out under boost, don't run it out of oil, and dont overheat the poor thing like crazy. Obey those simple rules and they run great. Oh and the BIG BIG #1 RULE...... don't feed it after midnight!!!!!
did anyone else notice he forgot to put sealant between the plate and housing at the 3:30 mark.
Watch closely, the sealant was on the housing I'm lowering down.
How much that engine cost? ((((:
Wait wait wait... wtf.... How does this coolant system even work? Wouldn't the coolant just create super hot pockets in the right front and left front of the engine? I know how the coolant passages in rotaries move from right to left with the rear iron making the turn for the coolant in the back. Please explain to me how this works. Hell, I'll pay you for the answer.
Yes, coolant enters the center billet plate, and branches out to the front and rear on the hot side of the motor (same passages as factory) then the rear and front make the turn to the other side and flow back towards the center plate again. Once they join together the flow comes out on top. It has to be setup exactly even flow. This was a prototype. Since then this has been on the dyno with many temp sensors, all of which read completely even temperature.
My dream a datsun 510 with this r26b 10k rpm.. heaven.
How much do one of these cost Logan ?
Identical motor with the intake and drysump about $64k
Defined Autoworks worth every penny
If this truly clone of R26b but where the engine noise? 787B?
What is the capasity of this 4 rotor?
2616ccm
anyone know equivalent rotor-stroke of a wankel engine (NSU or Mazda)..??
Just give me 2 of the billet ritors & ill be happy 😭
camera set to not show porting
The millionaire question how much to put this in a fc rx7
I see dorito, I subscribe
asking to see it being built most rotor mechanics won't even tell you much nevertheless let you watch a rebuild
Can you just build me a b13 single turbo. And sent it to me thanks. Will buy you a pint 😉
My mind crashed a few times with the songs. Missing notes remix style
Fuhh 🤩
5 mins? what happened to that other youtuber whos gone 5 year still aint finished
Como postar um video de motor sem ligá-lo? Translate
Why does no one narrate anymore? One engine I know nothing about.
Part 2 will be released soon going over this motor in more detail.
@@GTORx7 that would be cool. Coming from and lsx guy I know not much about rotory motors aside from they spin in one direction and have high rpm limits. Thanks for the update.
Idiots still use RTV silicone when they should be using ANAEROBIC gasket maker!!!!!!!
It’s so vexing to see “professionals” doing this!
Showing your latest creation wearing a ford shirt. Shameless xD
Only here for the music
@C Bwho doesn't
Are sure about that? R26b means that it gonna sound like 787b ...well nope I rather hear engine noise not all music shit
Pull up my recent video, same engine.
Where's pt.2?
