You don't have to bargain for a taxi/auto in Mumbai- they are legally bound to run by the meter! (Unless it is an airport cab where you prepay a certain rate)

chris! in mumbai we strictly run by the metre for public transportation like cabs (only black and yellow ones) and auto rickshaw/tuk-tuks! don’t ever ask the cabbies how much they will take you to your destination for because that gives them the opportunity to overcharge you by turning off their meter since you agreed to the price. 90% of cabs and autos WILL RUN by meter strictly, as it is the law. even when you asked the first cab driver how much for chowpatty, his friend told him ‘hey, there’s a camera he’s recording with’🤣 and soon after that cab driver pushed you onto his friend to take you hahaha as he realised he was being filmed trying to scam! always insist on paying by meter and tell them it’s the law if they act cocky. welcome to mumbai, pal. a city of beautiful chaos

We are so scared to eat street food due to possible infections. Since you have been to Chowpatty, I would suggest that you have gujarati lunch thali at Thacker's vegetarian Restaurant....it is hygienic, tasty and like home food.
