My hot take on Spiderman Homecoming, cuz it ain't as great as everyone says. As far as a Spiderman movie anyway. For a "Turn off your brain, thwippey swippey punch punch" flick, it's fine.
But I have legitimate beef with this version of Spiderman.

@@cdogg46 no. His best nickname would be Iron Boy Jr.
Great video. Spider-Man isn't robin, he is the greatest Marvel Superhero ever. He was Stan Lee's favourite superhero. In almost every interview he always talks about Spider-Man being the most relatable character, he never gets the girl, has money problems and has his aunt may to worry about whilst also trying to do well at school. This new version is almost a parody: how can they make Ironman his Uncle Ben and make Aunt May some random chick that flirts with everyone? This new guy has no problems, is funded by a billionaire, doesn't even want to fight crime, always messes something up but never reflects on it and hasn't even thought about Uncle Ben once. To all those MCU shills that say "oh, these movies are about Peter growing into the Spider-Man that we know from the comics", Can you honestly believe that? We don't need to show Uncle Bens death again but we can imply that he was the reason for his growth. We dont need another rehash coming of age story, swapping uncle ben for Ironman. Ugh. Anyway, good video. I'd like to see ur take on Far From Home and if you found that better or worse. Personally, I hated it, but to everyone else I am just a nostalgic Spidey Fan and I have no place to like these kiddy Superhero flicks.
Yeah, had someone dare to try and justify his lack of spidey sense by saying "he was still growing into it." Like, lol no, it was present in Civil War, and Infinity War. Here they just ignore it CUZ IRONSUIT. Stop making excuses for a bad Spiderman movie.
Haven't seen Far From Home and really, REALLY don't want to. So I will probably do a vid on it whenever I DO get around to it, but not any time soon, just fair warning
@@thelightningrod Man, the Far From Home movie is more of a kid road trip movie then a Spiderman film. It also lacks in the character development being Peter still not understanding the meaning of responsibility. The original (and other film versions) Spider-man learns that when his Uncle Ben dies but this version does not seem to even have had an Uncle. In some sense they are replacing Uncle Ben`s role with Tony Stark, which is a slap in the face since as we all know, Uncle Ben is the main reason why Spiderman decided to become a hero. It was very painful to watch really. You are better off watching a short summary video just to have a more understanding of the new movie coming out.
@Erik Kemeey You're literally making shit up. Wanna know how I can tell? THIS TAKES PLACE BEFORE THE SNAP. Stop making excuses for bad writing.

Dead right. As well Spiderman never needed Ironman. Sure they interacted with one another on rare occasions but Spiderman interacted with Fantastic 4 among others a heck of a lot more. They forget that Peter Parker is a genius too. He does NOT need a cybertronic suit, he never did. That is why he has super powers. Furthermore when it comes to Disney it is only about making money and pushing an agenda. And one of their agendas is normalizing transhumanism, where technology solves everything.
Spiderman has NEVER been about the suit (except maybe in the Venom arc).

@Erik Kemeey YUUUUUUUUUUUP
I like that The Vulture only wanted to sale the alien weapons to provide for his family. He never had any desires to murder people or obtain power. He had good intentions but went about it the wrong way.

The Amazing Spider-Man is far more the best Spider-Man movie than the MCU Spider-Man.
After rewatching the ASM movies recently I must say that Andrew Garfield is probably the most accurate version of Spiderman we have had.
Way I always say it is
Garfield is the best Spiderman.
Tobey is the best Peter Parker.
@Erik Kemeey Well that's a shame, cuz THIS story they were trying to sell was garbage
The real Spider-Man wouldn't want to join the Avengers because of too many responsibilities at hand plus being an Avenger is a huge responsibility. Whereas the MCU version, life's too easy for Peter that he's even able to afford a trip to Puerto Rico.

Tom Holland can’t act. Everyone shits on Tobey for crying but praise Holland. It’s that Disney stench that some people just have to defend
While I agree that people defend this out of obligation, I DO think Holland can act. Just not in this movie

It's so stupid. Yet the MCU fandom is a particularly vicious lot
Facts
@PHILL SHIVELY Spider-Man (2002) is easily the best Spider-Man movie and yes Spider-Man 2 (2004) is amazing as well but It is still the second best even though people say It's the best. HC and FFH however are just a joke of Spider-Man films. This is not fucking Spider-Man. This is just an IM wannabe. It just feels like a parody of SM. Let's just hope Spider-Man 3 (2021) will be better.
@PHILL SHIVELY I think The Marvel Cinematic Universe is amazing. The Spider-Man films are obviously not part of that but dude IW, Endgame, CW, TA, GotG, WS and Ragnarok are all amazing films.
Marvel CGI is a joke
It CAN be done well. Most of the time they're just lazy
I don’t even think the visuals were that good, amazing spider man was fucking sick
Besides lacking the movable eyes, Amazing Spiderman 2 also has had the best costume for Spidey hands fuckin down
I totally agree. The MCU spider-man is the awkward son of Ironman and Spider-man. He's bland. He's a mary sue. He gets all the resources, screwed up a bunch of things, and doesn't have to face consequences and responsibilities. I guess that's what gen z dream of: have a rich daddy that gives you everything, look cool, no hard-working and no responsibilities. It puts a bad taste in my mouth when general audience even fans think this is the best spider-man we deserve.
Shit got even worse in Far from Home with the Iron Man crap
UGH of course it did
I'm a 30 year old south african woman, spiderman was, you hear me? was!! my favourite mcu comic, honestly i hate the baby boy who's spiderman, there's no man there, it's like spiderkid even the cartoons I've watched he doesn't look that young, the fat asian friend agh, and the moody black girl and why is he dependent on iron man? even the stupid far from home sucks, what is happening with the stupid iron suit? even into the spiderverse annoyed the hell out of me, i got the concept but they could have done it with some other character, not spiderman. RIP spiderman ⚰
I just hate how they’re trying to do everything to take away from Spider-Man story and they just skip his origin. I see people saying tony replaced uncle Ben. Really?? That’s like if captain america just woke up after 70 years and was just.. fine with it. Like if in the beginning of iron man 1 he just had the suit already, and we didn’t see his struggle in the beginning. Uncle Ben is the literal reason why he’s Spider-Man.. You can’t just muzzle him.
We don't ALWAYS have to see him lose Uncle Ben. But people drumming up the excuse of Tony being a surrogate is retarded fluff from MCU nuts
I still enjoyed homecoming but I definitely see where you’re coming from, as much as I dug the flick I’d change a lot of stuff, mostly instead of Iron Man giving him all the stuff in his suit, Peter gets inspired by starks civil war suit to make something similar and then put all those ridiculous features himself, I loved the message with Iron man teaching peter that if he’s nothing without the suit, he shouldn’t have it but I would’ve liked it more if the only scenes with Iron Man in the movie was the beginning where he told peter he’d call him if he needs him & the end where he hits up Peter to tell him he made a new suit for him & peter denies it, I did like the humor with Homecoming and as funny as Peter was in Tasm 1 & 2, that felt more like Deadpool than Spiderman but you make really good points, I wish Iron Man was more of a far to the side character being more independent but not being the character who’s the only hero in New York, kinda balanced, always knowing the right thing to do and hella responsible
Edit: I loved the rubble lift scene & I wish Peyton Reed directed Homecoming & called it, Spectacular Spiderman instead
I hate homecoming.......but love the TASM duology
Same. We appear to be in a very small minority tho it seems

Pretty much agree with the statement at 2:09. I'll call it a Spider-Man movie because of the film title, but Spidey isn't really in that film imo.
Also agree that Peter's a brat in Homecoming. That's one of my issues with the film.
dude most of ur statement i agree but disagree 1 thing about Spiderman 3:
Peter doesn't act like spiderman in 3 because he was influenced by the venom, which amplifies the characteristics of the host, especially the negative ones.
Indeed u would say that Spiderman is Spiderman. he should be a hero so there shouldn't be excuses to act arrogant like this. But remember spiderman is more of a normal person instead of the noble, selfless individuals like the stereotype heroes. Can u ensure that THERE IS NO DARKNESS INSIDE HIM AT ALL? I personally don't blame him for expressing all his negative emotions after being possessed by venom.
You're point is fair, the circumstance of their arrogance is different.
I just wanted to stress the point of how little Homecoming Spidermand FEELS like Spiderman.
If anything your point only backs up how in 3 it's at least understandable WHY he acts that way.
In Homecoming it's cuz techno suit and IronMan fanboying, which makes it that much worse.
@@thelightningrod trust me bro. i hate homecoming as much as u...or even more.

Honestly after I just don't give a damn anymore
BSAA Rob your absolutely right about spider-man 3 it is symbiont that makes him a dick in the music montage but in my eyes it wasn't depicted we can I love that point of the character especially in the 90's cartoon series it actually depicted how it affected his whole life not just mainly his relationship with Mary Jane like in the movie
Yeah, but he was already (rightfully) losing his head before the symbiote. Ultimately the goop is just an metaphor/personification of Peter's ego, just as the arms were a twisted reflection of Doc Ock's arms in the last movie.
This is fine, however; Peter has every reason to be on cloud 9 right now, and I think anyone can remember losing their heads a bit getting a lot of success after a ton of misery (not to mention it's what happens in the comics multiple times). It fits naturally with his character, and before that, it's a natural extension of his character arc in the movies.
I totally agree with you. Tobey is the best because we know exactly why he’s Spider-Man. I really hated the suit part of homecoming I really do. Raimi’s spider man is Cool because Peter is not. He has nothing enviable about his life but he does the right thing and no one has his back.
That’s not what Stan lee said sure he said he was a good Spiderman but what Stan lee said about Tom Holland can make anyone agree
Random Stuff Stan Lee is just being nice
KND Video he had to for all the other actors who played Spider-Man but for Tom Holland he said That Tom Holland was exactly how he imagined him
I can’t believe so many people liked this version of Spider-Man, why does he need a suit to give him powers he’s meant to have. It’s just ridiculous that they just can’t do a decent Spider-Man film. I actually think the Garfield ones are the best, I liked the serious tone personally
Glad you agree.
I liked them too, as they were more based off the Ultimate Spiderman universe, and I liked where they were going.

I just finally watched this. It was so boring. I couldn't believe how many great reviews it got. It was so incredibly boring. I actually liked the villain and his motivation, but there was so little of him in the movie. Best scene was in the car when he figured out who Peter was.
Seriously, The Vulture was the best part of this movie, and EXACTLY as you said, he was barely in it
Is it just me or do I hate it when people say Iron Boy Jr? Like Tony isn’t what Unlce Ben was, he was just a character that didn’t give Peter the motivation to do what was right, just a character that Peter can relate off and tries to impress. Just because he’s a father figure DOESNT mean he’s imitating Uncle Ben.
You could maybe make that argument if they didn't completely phase Uncle Ben and his morals out of the MCU in their entirety.
As such Iron Man IS arguably an intended replacement.
What did you think of the MCU spiderman in infinity war?
He works much better as a side character. He was just alright in that one. But mostly cuz he wasn't given enough screentime or writing to be as fucked up as he is in the solo movies

Him acting as a sort of surrogate IronMan kinda makes me mad (he is his own hero, I'm so sick of them foisting IronMan everywhere), but it's an interesting segway to making him WANT to stay in NY only/not be an Avenger.
He has a touch of humility, good, always a good thing for Spiderman.

I have said the exact same thing with the Nolan trilogy of batman movies they are great cop movies but terrible batman movies cause they totally missed the mark right down to the core of what makes Bruce become batman that doesn't mean they are acted badly just that the writers fail to understand batman' world and the same can be said for spider-man in the mcu they watered him down so much it's like we have a Peter Parker that had a miles filter put on him it feels like they did it cause they thought since this universe is aimed at kids they wouldn't know the difference all them want is the money from the merchandise
What do you think is Batman's core. I'd love to hear from someone experienced. Everyone seems to just pick an era they really love, whether it's the silly swashbuckler days, or the murderous avenger of the night, or the animated series, and call it a day. Someone had to.
Cuz all I saw out there was slobbering sycophantic praise
I agree to this to some extent. I think you’re right on some parts but to people saying he’s iron man jr, well they did this to make character development. See in civil war he gets recruited by iron man and that makes him happy and be a big fan of iron man. I mean who wouldn’t ? And when iron man dies in endgame that leaves a big character moment for Spider-Man. And in far from home he tries to learn to become his own hero and by the end he becomes his own hero. Ok sure maybe he did use the iron man type tech and they played the back in black song, but they did that for a perfect reason. If you can’t see that then that’s your fault and I’m not wasting my breath. Spider-Man in homecoming was me at to seem dumb and all that because he’s very new to being Spider-Man and all that. The reason he had Karen was so that he had someone to talk to which is a smart way to make him talk to himself. All these Spider-Man movies are different. MCU is a comedy , tasm was action adventure and thriller and original was action adventure. And Spider-Man does make his own web fluid in MCU. We see him in class making them and in civil war we see that he’s made web fluid. The MCU version makes it feel more modern. And you’ll all’s find out in far from home that Karen is no where to be found.
Dude, you're thinking too small on the Iron Man jr. comment and why people rag on him for it.
Iron boy jr.

You should've ranted about Far From Home instead of this one because the sequel had everything passive. I get every point that you've mentioned. You could have just made a video about how much you love the previous Spider-Man iterations. lol
Lol hated this one so much i straight up refuse to watch any of the sequels.
Within a timely manner that is
@@thelightningrod It could've been at least decent if his arc around this one isn't heavily focused around Iron Man or being an Avenger. "Decent" at least
@Erik Kemeey Lightning Rod is the hater. I love Homecoming in a way he should have pointed his time ranting on any other movie he considers "sucks"
Agree
After watching this video I have realized that Homecoming is still one of my favorite Spider-Man movies, no video essay will change that.
To me personally most things feel accurate to the character I originally read in the comics, even changes to the character still feel accurate.
Not feeling good enough was something I felt like back when I watched the movie, so his struggle of wanting to prove himself was so relatable to me. I don't get why people say he's not relatable because he's saving the city, Spider-Man 2, which is one of my favorite movies, has him needing to save the while city from exploding, yet people praise it.
And that's totally fine.
You enjoy what YOU want. Don't let some nerd like me on the internet convince you otherwise. I don't care WHAT anyone says about Batman Vs Superman, I still and will ALWAYS love that movie.
As a Spiderman fan I felt I had to get this out there, but my intent is just that- MY opinion. I'm not here to take away YOUR enjoyment if you still like it. Hence why I still give it credit as "not a bad movie," just a bad Spiderman, to ME.
I know I agree with you in my opinion I can"t see tom pulling the sad down on his look teenage Peter Parker is I'm glad you made this video in fact there are even people like Mr who think so your not alone I still like it for what it is but Spider-Man the animated series is the best
Unpopular opinion: Andrew Garfield portrayed the character of Spider-Man MUCH better than Tom Holland.
Super unpopular. But hey, I was never popular before, so not much to lose by holding that opinion, eh?
in this case i guess the great power does the responsible stuff for you?
Dude.
DUDE.
I wish I had thought of that! What a concise way to put it!!!
I get what you say, but I think HiTop Films said it better.
Ok?
I seriously just want to get a ACME Mallet and whack anyone, including the NC for calling this a better Spider-Man movie than the previous ones.
Watched the first one at home and just got bored right in the beginning. I was glad I didn't have to see the second in theaters.
Oh, also worth mentioning, WTF is up with changing the race of the side characters and forcing stupid political agendas into it. And people still call this a better Spider-Man movie.
I hated Homecoming. I don't like MCU Spider-Man at all.
Good taste then, my friend
Cheers!!!!!
Thank you for this, you should watch Hiptop films video called "Spiderman homecoming is not a good spider-man movie".

Will we ever have a good spider man film
Raimi Spiderman already exists.
@@prufan I enjoyed the 1st 2 but even Those movies had things that could have been slightly better and feel like if you took the best pieces of all these movies that were made you would have the perfect spiderman movie
What could have been slightly better? A better version of MJ? or having Gwen instead?
@@prufan The Mary Jane thing is a good point everything else about that 1st one I loved from the fights how graphic they were The only slight change I would have made was have him create the Web shooters it's a small thing but Still and make him just a tiny bit more funny but that's just an opinion
I see what your saying 🤔.
I honestly wish TASM Gwen was in the first Raimi Spiderman movie instead of Kirsten Dunst MJ 🤷♂️.
Peter always a awkward teenager heck even Andrew Garfield peter got bite the spider he still has that awkward vibe when talking to his crush I,m not justified all the awkward joke but the fact that you said he was never be awkward teenager is just really confusing to me,just why?
What I'm criticizing isn't the fact that he's an awkward teen, cuz as you pointed out both other Spidermen were at times too.
What I AM criticizing is that is THE SOURCE OF NEARLY 90% OF THE HUMOR.
Spiderman ain't THAT awkward.
“1 quip”
Yup. Only one worth half a shit anyway
UPGRADE IS AN AMAZING MOVIE!!
Super underappreciated for how good it was too
Than you should watch DC movie or spin up show they are r rated hey how about you peacemaker I hope you like it 😊 it's in HBO max
This is I iron boy jr movie
Plot twist ,,aunt may killed uncle ben...
No. Uncle Ben is the Green Goblin in the MCU.
XD
Exactly, honestly just my opinion, no hate captain marvel, spider Man homecoming sucked. I know Tom is soooo pretty.... but honestly I fell asleep until RDJ or MJ showed up. Those two movies, just for me didn't work, maybe it's not my type. But nowadays fandoms overrates Spidey like 😶. Look just to be clear I am a feminist, straight teenage girl, I like bw, I know she deserved better, I have watched scarjo movie, like Lucy, under the skin, they were 🔥as iron Man. but for some reason Endgame kind of ruined the spirit of Tony Stark, maybe his then life was developed, matured, not my type but I wished even if he was about to die, he stayed the same, I mean I couldn't get enough of the classic version of him, like those first movies since Ultron. They purposefully made him serious, greater , I guess to finish the franchise, but I wanted these versions of him rather than anything.
Black Widow only ever seemed to be done justly in Captain America Winter Soldier and Civil War.
In my opinion anyway
I don’t like Tom Holland the only thang I like from Tom Holland is his costume now that’s the only thang I like from him that’s it
absoulutely true
@Erik Kemeey @Erik Kemeey ı watched no way home and finally toms spiderman is changed ı guess ı will like the new version of toms spiderman
Thought I was the only one that hated spiderman homecoming
We all Do Iron Boy jr
Me too. Seems we have a lot of good company
The coolest bits of far from home are with his spider sense FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or Peter tingle
Oh, so he ACTUALLY uses it then?
I walked out my first attempt to watch it
Good
In the Maguire ones he didn't need to depend on web shooters. His webbing was organic and shot out from his wrists.
That's a much further deviation from Homecoming.
I would much, MUCH rather take a small inaccuracy like him making his own webs rather than the mass butchering of EVERYTHING ELSE that makes Spiderman who he is, as this movie did.
A small, strange but technical difference is far better than gutting the heart and soul of the character.
"much further deviation" my ass.
Homefucking sucks
Why was MJ so irritating and androgynous?
To be honest she's such a minuscule role I barely even registered her existence. But to answer your question, probably to appeal to more modern trends of "LOL SUCH WEIRDO" for the kiddies
Sam Raimi Spider Man is the best. As much as I hate Amazing Spider-man, it did better than Tom Holland Spider-man.
Raimi trilogy sucks I said it
@@TRUTHSLEFTNUT Hahahahahahahahha, you r a joke. Watch Sam Raimi spider man again and watch spiderman homecoming and see who the real peter parker is.
@@bobbygould1960 I did, and Tom Holland is not only a more accurate representation of a teenager than than the guy who was his thirties was when he played the role but he also does a better job of acting.
@@TRUTHSLEFTNUT I know but for example spider-man 2. The scene of the burning apartment whiles the little girl was trapped inside, Parker went into the house and saved her without his super powers, that was the real peter parker.
Spider man is 85% serious and 15% comedic.
Tom Holland had no spider sense, but always goofy and everything is OK, nothing wrong but there are mistakes.
@@bobbygould1960 he does have spidey sense this, is shown in civil war and infinity war and infinity war, and in far from home he learns how to rely on it more
I agree with everything you said Please make a video on Far from Home if you could even bear to watch it cos it's even worse than this one lol🤣
TOMMY!? I love your movies man. Your Joker video too
But anyway, maybe I'll hate watch it one day and just tear it apart in a drunk review lol
