I don't think The Crowded Room should be getting poor reviews, it's a character driven story and a social commentary for those who are seeking aid in times of need. I think their reviews should be sky high as that's the definition of what makes grounded storytelling.

Barbecue originated in the Americas, Spanish explorers/conquerers put a name to it and spread the cooking technique around to more parts of America. Others attribute the style to European settlers who would smoke a variety of meats to preserve them.
Modern US BBQ has several different "Regions" including Texas, Kansas city, /MemphisTennessee and Carolina. Not to mention the modern pit roasting techniques that have been developed over the years, many within the United States. There's also a lot of discussion regarding the sauces, rubs, cooking techniques etc.
Personally I think the best foods offer a taste of multiple cultures and ingredients.

Exactly! It isn't a valid argument to say American food isn't American because it's an amalgamation of many different cultures into one dish. Chinese-American food isn't really Chinese. It's inspired by it! The history and cultural study is so fascinating. I wish people understood that mixing cultures is how you GET new cultures. It's awesome!
