    I swear about 80% of the time I need to do something to one of my cameras, you've got an at least semi-relevant video on the topic. Thanks again for all your hard work.

      Hi! I'm Vik, from Argentina. I have the same problem, and I think that it could be the "on/off" contact, but actually don't know. Did you get some answer about it?

    My exposure needle bounces around. I am assuming the dials. like the ISO dial could use some cleaning. Solid camera though. Nothing a little TLC can't fix.

      You could try to take a look on this repair manual for the SRT-101, it should be almost the same.
      Or, you could take a closer look on this web site:

      To take off the exposure button you will need to loosen the 3 small set screws around it, and then lift up the exposure button.

    about the foam i always wonder if we have to put something, because the manufacturer put that foam for a propuse i guess, we just clean it but... Then that volume is empty.

    I have an issue with the counter, it doesn't seem to be working at all. Also it seems that the light meter is broken, I have tried changing the battery but it doesn't seem to work. It reacts but only when aiming at a light. Any ideas on how to fix these problems? Thanks!

      Counter: Did you replace the foam seals around the back cover? If you did, were you careful to leave a gap over the silver arm that the back cover pushes when the back is closed to make the counter begin to work?
      Meter : There are countless possible problems that could result in this sort of problem, from the mechanical inputs (did you disturb the coupling ring input by removing the lens mount?) to electrical (broken resistors, loose ground on the circuit board or under the meter housing, pinched wires, and many more). Needs inspection by someone who knows OM-1's I'm afraid.

      The mechanism that keeps the camera from winding more than one frame is inside the bottom cover of the camera. Either a spring is unhooked or broken, or there may be liquid damage. If soft drink has invaded, you may be able to remove the parts and wash them, dry them, and reinstall.

    hello, i recently acquired an OM-2n, The film advance lever winds up fine, but it doesn't snap back to starting position, it just slowly moves back. is it because of dirt?

    • @clintonr9804
      @clintonr9804 Před 4 lety

      My first guess wound be "stick stuff", like soft drink, was spilt on the camera. Fortunately is seldom "rusts", and can be wiped off with a damp cloth once you've got the lever removed from the top cover.

    Hej mikeno
    I was working on my old om1 last week (funny enough) removing foam and cleaning prism corrosion - problem solved
    However when i put it back together the door locking mechanism can close but won't open. If i remove the spring: it works, but ofcourse if i turn the camera up side down the door opens because there is no spring. So i conclude that the spring is in some way blocking the opening mechanism?

    • @mikeno62
      @mikeno62  Před 6 lety +1

      Hej Emil
      Are there any movement when you pull the rewinder lever, there is maybe an issue under the top cover, maybe the spring was coming out of place when you assemble it, I had have the same issue and it was the problem.

    I cannot for the heck of it get that trim plate off. I tried the rubber method but nothing moved. I tried brute force and scratched the plate really bad. I dont really care anymore i just want to get the top plate off and repair the meter. Anything else i could try to get the trim plate of? :(

    • @gunnerchapa8856
      @gunnerchapa8856 Před 5 lety

      If you dont care about damaging the plate, you could always try gluing an allen wrench to it and use some torque to open it. But removing the allen wrench afterwards may be tricky.

    • @clintonr9804
      @clintonr9804 Před 4 lety

      Trim plate? Do you mean the black disc on top of the cap over the wind lever? On the rare occasions that a rubber stopper doesn't work, put a tiny drop of acetone onto the edges of the black disc, but be careful not to let it get onto the decorative black plastic cover beneath -- acetone will ruin it! Let it soak in, then carefully try and turn the disc again -- it may slip off. If not, drip acetone again, wait and try again.
      Once it's off, you can put the points of needle nose pliers into the holes in the cap and twist. If you have no pliers small enough, put the end of a small screwdriver into one hole then the other and tap the end of the driver to break the cap free of the plastic.

    • @clintonr9804
      @clintonr9804 Před 4 lety

      There are several types of ASA/ISO cover plates -- make sure you find one of the same type. And if the index tab on the top of the meter housing has been broken, you will have to harvest an identical type from a donor body, unscrew the nut that holds it on, and replace it. Once again, there are several types, be sure to get the same as your camera.
