Remember to schedule regular tune ups and maintenance checks at a local bike shop. Safety first! - Sport
Perfectly straight to the point and easy to understand what to do. Thank You!
Thanks for this instructional video roadbikeoutlet, I'm building a fixed gear bike from the bottom up, and thanks to you, my project has a bright future.
Wonderful, thank you!
I don't fully tighten the drive side until I have hand tightened the cup. With the cup in place we now have a perfect alignment and can finish tightening the drive side, and then fully tighten the non-drive cup.
Another great vid. A surefire method to prevent threading is to use the cup as a guide and screw it well into the shell first, then screw the bottom bracket in, loosening the cup as you go.
Thanks for watching!
Of all the videos I've seen this one is the best.
Thank you!
This is the only good video on youtube for this. Thanks for posting!
Thank you!
How to determine BB size for my bikes? Planning on building a fixed gear roadbikes, the frame size is 51 and 53
What should the torque be for the crank arm bolts would help complete the whole installation.
i have a frame thats 68/120mm bb and I can find the same size bb should I go 68/118mm or 68/122mm bb?
Hi
I have 1 question,
Do I need to use a particular type of grease like lithium or any will do
great video by the way
soumil sharma you should be okay with any kind of bearing grease. good luck, and thank you!
You helped me a lot! Thank you for this video. Thumbs up!
Thank you for watching! I'm so glad it helped you out.
the most helpful one on youtube.. thanks!
Wow, thank you!
i have a square taper bb and i want to change and install a xt groupset..My question is if i can change the square taper bottom bracket with XT MT800 Bottom Bracket..
I am really sorry, but I am not familiar with the XT MT800. I suggest you reach out to a bike mechanic for assistance.
Easy to follow, no over implicating the matter, v good
Thank you so very much! Appreciate you taking the time to watch and you comments. Have a great day.
hey this video was super helpful, but i do have a question: i am building a bike from scratch, and i bought a square tapered bottom bracket, but the thing is i am using a wooden frame and it will look similar to the sawyer lowrider plywood bicycle. is there a way that i can put a spacer on the square taper so that the chain and chain ring doesn't rub up against the wooden frame?
+Filipe Magalhaes I bet you could, but I'd suggest contacting a local bike shop for some assistance. Its a little hard to offer advice on a project like that without seeing the bike. Good luck! It sounds like a great project.
Very helpful and clear. Thank you
Thanks Terry. Good to hear.

Glad it helped you out Mattys!
thank you!!!! only video mentioning to screw it the opposite way first to prevent cross threading!!!!!!!!!!
For some reason there’s a point where my bottom bracket gets really tight and with my tool it’s really hard and my tools jump out while tightening and I feel like I’m going to strip it
Probably because you have reached the end of the thread, meaning it's as tight as it can go, if it's not then you probably crossed the threads at some point and wrecked them. One side of the bike drivetrain is threaded the opposite way just incase you don't know
u know square taper cranks are prolly the most vintage yet i know of cyclists who were on newer hollowtech II or SRAM GXP cranks who turn back to the good ole square taper cranks haha
They are older but work well.
that was pretty good, thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the helpful video. FYI Spanner= English, wrench=American. Old and new have nothing to do with it, they’re still called spanner’s in England.
Thank you.
Does the cup suppose to flush perfectly, mine sticks out a little bit
It should not stick out too much. We always suggest taking your bike to a bike mechanic to ensure that everything was setup properly.
Khemet Bey i had a bottom bracket fitted by a "profesional" halfords and it stuck out it worked perfectly well tho
Why threadlock on the non-drive side only? Is threadlock blue OK?
My temptation would be to apply waterproof grease both sides. I take it this is not a good idea?
Used waterproof grease both sides on recommendation of cycle store. The BB shell I have is plastic and threadlock may have cause a lot of problems when it came to time to remove it. It has worked flawlessly so far with grease.
Richard Corfield I'm glad to hear that it worked flawlessly. Excellent! I'm sorry I did not reply earlier. If we can be of any assistance, please email service@roadbikeoutlet.com or call. 904.425.1366. Thank you.
great video thanks!!
+StraitClownin909 Thank you.
What size is the bottom bracket? i have the same bike but i dont know what size it is.
Square taper English threaded
thanks for this video
Duc Pham Thank you for watching.
Hope it helped.
Will copper grease work?
I don't suggest using copper grease, but would suggest looking at the applications it is recommended for using on your bike.
what grease did you use?
+louis siginski We get grease fromwww.jbi.bike/web/ and it varies. Your local bike shop can sell some to you.
THANKS !
You are welcome.
Does it matter about the size?
+Christian Alviar I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you are referring to. Can you please specify? Thank you!
You da man!!!
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for these tutorials, building a bike is a good idea when you actually know how to build a bike... It's fun tho
+Jihadi Alan You are welcome. Let us know if you'd like something specific and I'll pass it to the team.
ok! thanks!
Should've watched this before I tried to install my bb, I am sitting with a frame with a stripped bb shell.
+Tyler Xie That must suck ass
+Tyler Xie I'm sorry to hear that.
+C. Paul Definitely unfortunate.
What size is that b/b please
tom scholfield I think its 68 x 110
i agree 100%
Thank you.
My man
Tq sir
nice video. but why did you clamp the bike by the frame? I get that it's a cheap ass bike, but still. use the seapost
Yes, you should clamp to the seatpost. Thank you.
yep, im just going to go to a bike shop, dont want strip my frames bb
That is the safest bet.
Do I really really need that little tool at the start of the video??? Cause I don't have one
hadi257 Yes, you will need the tool.
+hadi257 No just bodge it like I did, had my bike for months and its been fine
I would advise you to always use the tool.
Yeah use the tool if you can, I was on a tight budget. It can be done without, but it doesn't look pretty
thanks
You are welcome.
