      It’s not even really a joke. A lot of relationships that involve marriage or cohabitation in an extremely short period of time, is usually a sign. Abusive people need to trap you quickly, because they can’t keep that mask on for too long.
      Live your life and do what you wanna do… But waiting a few extra months before doing any serious long-term commitments won’t do any harm and could avoid situations like this before someone is in too deep. If he’s the right one for you, he’ll respect you need time before rushing into something. Learned this the hard way.

    my father received parole after murdering my mother and it was the most gut-wrenching and heartbreaking time of my life. i was devastated that they would even consider letting him out into the public world. he ripped apart my family with no remorse, no sadness, no guilt. i have never forgiven him for the trauma his actions caused me, and i never will. he died in october of last year, and he died knowing that his son, his only child with one of the most incredible and wonderful women (that was entirely out of his league, might i add), hated him through and through. his family has consistently tried to reach out to me after his death, and i refuse to even give them the time of day. they saw nothing wrong with him murdering her, as she was trying to leave him (to keep me safe). i cant imagine how scared and helpless she must have felt in the last minutes of her life. it will be twenty-one years without her next march, and her birthday is coming up 02 september. i cant wait to go visit her resting place and let her know that she’s still remembered and loved.

    my biggest question is why didn't her family report her missing???? they knew the situation she was in. as someone who has been in abusive relationships, i can see how being on the outside and constantly helping the person get out and have them go back can be frustrating. it seems like they are just starting over, however it isn't that simple. the power the abuser has on the person is immense and they are so good at pulling the person back in. statistically, people return to their abuser on average 7 times before leaving for good and each time it becomes more and more dangerous for them because the abuser can feel their power slipping and the abuse starts to escalate. no matter how frustrating, please stand by the person being abused. they will leave when they are ready but until then getting frustrated and leaving them will only make them feel more alone and isolated and make it harder for them. there are resources for people who have a loved one in an abusive relationship as well

      @AngelDeed Před rokem +18

      You can't expect people to give up their whole life trying to help someone who goes back to the abuser every time. They will give up after a while and concentrate on their own mental health and wellbeing. Trying to help a victim can be unhealthy for the helpers too.

    Bella I'm so glad you said something saying how ugly he was. I don't feel so bad now. The second I saw him I actually yelled out Eeeeesh! 😂.
    But domestic violence I like to call it the spell. I've worked with clients, or had loved ones, friends, that were in DV or intimate violence relationships. Some of them were even involved in law enforcement or Human Services where they worked DV cases. And they still could not see themselves a DV relationship. They couldn't see themselves being in danger. No matter how much rationality you try to talk to them. It's like they're under a spell. That's why I call it the spell.

    • @rebeccacrash9272
      @rebeccacrash9272 Před rokem +6

      @lovelight6973 Před rokem +8

      @@rebeccacrash9272 I once knew a girl who was police officer she would arrest people for the same thing. she was in a domestic violence marriage but she couldn't see it. That's why I called the spell for sure. And I think it isn't until you can get survivors to leave enough and give enough space for them to get perspective. It doesn't always work. The average survivor has to leave 6-7 times before she or he leaves officially. But I'm really proud of you and I'm glad you're a safe place right now.

    My late wife and I got married after two months of dating. We had our ups and downs getting used to each other of course, but she ended up being my lover, best friend and confidant. We were married 13 glorious years, until she died of a stroke. She was just thirty and they never found the cause of it, which left me with no closure. The hardest thing I had to do was tell my daughter, nine years old at the time, that her mother had passed away. She died October 22, 3004 on our anniversary. It tore me up. This time of year gets very hard for me. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ramble on. I was just commenting how fast we got married. RIP my lovely Susie! God Bless, everyone.🙏❤️🙏

    • @jessklaroliner8758

      @Pops "She chose to be a victim" Let's not blame her for him killing her. She was in love with someone and was unable to comprehend that his strange bouts of anger could transform into such a gruesome murder. She was kindhearted and gave him the benefit of the doubt.

    • @megharry5477
      @megharry5477 Před rokem +6

      @Pops please do some research on domestic violence. when you get into a relationship with someone during a vulnerable period in your life, in this case being so young and pregnant, it is so easy for them to manipulate you as well as make you dependent on them for support. abusers are also experts at making you believe they’ve changed and won’t do it again, and making you feel like you’d be the bad person for not giving them another chance. not to mention she had a kid with the guy, which is an easy point of manipulation. if it was so easy to leave abusers, abuse wouldn’t exist. but even the most intelligent people can become trapped in that cycle. the risk of violence actually increases the moment you try to leave. but of course, judging by the tone of your comment you don’t know any of this or you would have empathy. this woman did not deserve to be abused and she did not deserve to die.

    • @chelseathibodeaux7029
      @chelseathibodeaux7029 Před rokem +4

      @Pops no one chooses to be a victim.. You really should educate yourself on abusive dynamics. To say this about a murder victim makes you sound ignorant.

    • @kellyaxelrad
      @kellyaxelrad Před rokem +4

      @Pops Nope, she was a victim because he chose to victimize and dehumanize her. It’s not on her to make him stop. She was trapped, manipulated, threatened and terrified. It’s easy from the outside to say “she should have made better choices.” When you’re in it, as I’ve been, it’s never that simple or even a safe choice to make. Claiming she could have stopped the situation is like saying, if she wasn’t drinking; if she wasn’t walking home alone; if she wasn’t wearing that outfit. To listen to this story and judge her more than him-the actual abuser and murderer- is gross

    • @kellyaxelrad
      @kellyaxelrad Před rokem +2

      @Pops It’s empowerment to give victims empathy, and help them reclaim their autonomy and become free. It’s not empowerment to expect them to be able to escape abuse and murder, and imply that they did something wrong if they couldn’t
