I have never saved the kid
Iven't touched dying light in a while. However I recently got bored with dying light 2 and couldn't get my main save on DL1 to do a NG+ for some reason. So U know what? New game completely and boy.
It's amazing. I don't think techland understands how important details are anymore or lighting, the lighting makes me feel at home. The story of the game makes me sad and depressed but playing makes me feel good.
Even with all the gore updates and weapon animations, fighting in DL2 does not feel as good. Yes we can block now without it taking up a slot in DL2 when fighting humans but they don't feel like right, never did. And of course the environmental story telling, the interior designs, the breakable objects, this game gives me a way more intense fight or fly response than DL2
They should've kept all "phases" of the zombies in for diversity, same mistake they made in DL2. They should have all the weapons in higher rank and rarities, same as DL2. But otherwise just a fucking great game.
4:36 Wait wtf, you can _ignore_ the kid?
How do you get games to just give away?
I never realized that civilized society was so close to Harran. Hell, some dude with a telescope in his apartment could probably peak into the Quarantine zone and witness Crane slaughtering Rais' men with complete legal impunity.
And Dropkicking a Viral off a rooftop, and maybe witnessing Crane flashing Volatiles with UV Lights at night if they’re interested enough.
In my playthrough I think I noticed it going to shit outside the quarantine zone later on too. Fires and things out there.
@@matta6088Yeah, as the game progresses you can see fires in the distance, probably the infection spreading
@@XXcal.I don’t think the infection spread until the end of the following, more likely protests regarding the virus and controversies with the GRE or something
@@XXcal.now I felt less guilty about going out of the quarantine zone as a volatile
My latest Nightmare run made me notice that early game zombies are tourists, and the end game ones are all soldiers and athletes. I thought it had something to do with activating the Following before fully beating the game but apparently not.
Wasn't a tournament going on during the outbreak, but they didn't tell the public.
@@KirasfoxIf I am not mistaken it was the Olympics or something basically as important to Harran.
It was called the Global Athletic games and it allowed for Harran to be a neutral city filled with every culture. And yes, the people were mad at the government for allowing their culture to be watered down and their city to be a tourist destination. It did save the city financially, but it made the virus spread way easier.
Survive of the fittest
It's a standard RPG level scaling mechanic. The enemies are completely dependent on the level of Crane. I appreciate level scalings positives but for me personally I'd rather level scaling wasn't a thing. Have areas with harder enemies and areas with easier enemies. I don't want every zombie to be max level when I'm max level. Give me my power fantasy.
@@upon-fe2720omg, this 😭 I don’t know why every zombie game is like that. I made the mistake just today of speedrunning the main storyline of dead island 2 with the intention of coming back for all the side quests later but now all the hard ass mutant zombie types are EVERYWHERE when they used to be normal boring areas
for a silly parkour zombie game techland put a lot of love in it
Old team techland(
@@kintop122 What changed? I'm not really up to date with DL2 after the pretty bad launch
@@wayward7456 They made the game more attractive for children, parkour is still slow shit.
Clearly somebody never played it.
@@kxvl3202clearly no one cares but u
The truth is that I had never noticed that zombies changed when you beat the game, of course that's why I felt them as more resistant to damage:v
And after beating the game theres less special infected
@@train_go_boom2065really?
At the end of the game I had a sword that cut through anything like butter lol
I dont feel any difference with my 5k dmg machete 😅
@@daiha28845 damage? Hajd, well, keep in mind that a new player or an average player who has been in the game won't have as much damage,
So glad you mentioned the kid you can rescue in the airdrop mission, found it by accident, refused to enter the house cause I thought it was a screamer and I said fuck that.
It was featured in the e3 trailer, very cool they included it pretty much exactly like it was shown
Wait what happens if you don’t rescue the kid?
@paladinboyd1228 I guess the kid gets eaten? I've played the game 3 times and never went past the house where she was hiding, I didn't pick up dying light till 2019 so I never watched the E3 trailer.
@@paladinboyd1228 the kid dies, you can find the place later with only some blood in It
There's another side mission with 2 children who go looking for their mum. It's at the harbour safe house and the place you find him is the same house I think. But most locations inside look the same.
I swear dying light 1 had the best theme song
On of top 20, i think like that
bro its literally 3 notes 😂 it may be decent i guess (i found it annoying) but nowhere near top 20 theme songs. if you wanna hear what a good theme song sounds like play skyrim, legend of zelda, even GTA 5 police chase themes to me are way more complex and better songs
It's good but Dying Light 2 has Olivier Derivière...And man I don't think you can get much better than that !
@@MisterKrakensHe should've focused on sythtetic instead of violin.
@@weplo1597 Clearly not, he's the MASTER of violin. It's just not the same atmosphere, get over it.
virals and zombies at the beginning all have civilian clothes, while virals near the end have the outfits of tower runners and zombies have gear. Really shows survival of the fittest.
The Virals in the beginning wear jerseys, maybe part of the athlete team taking part in the Harran Olympics?
My head canon for the updated zombies is that, while the virus has been in Haran for a while, Crane shows up late in the process. Everyone who is still alive is running out of food and medicine and other perishable items; they're getting desperate and the zombies and special infected are honing in on them. Plus, Crane is killing a lot of Rais' men and bandits who are getting reanimated as infected. So, basically, the virus is overtaking the last bit of survivors and Crane is adding to the body count so a lot of the zombies in the end game are "Fresh".
The first part is probably true but we don't really have any indication that they revive into zombies, the virus seems to need the victim alive the whole time.
Another factor that's likely is the zombies seem to be continually mutating on top of everything else so that can be another reason there getting tougher.
Reminds me of my headcanon, its more so a low tier evolution for the zombies not lucky enough to mutate into special zed
Zeds in this game are alive not dead. And no They don't discompose but are getting slowly killed by the sun.
@@pootisspenser7456 actually they either slowly mutate into something else or rot away
This is not twd. The infected are still alive humans who are not in control of their bodies.
Virals look like local survivals, citizens and later they look like runners with gear, pretty fucking genius.
and sad
shotout to you for leaving the whole scene in the video, its too amazing to not do that.
The original soundtrack gets me so hyped up.

I think days gone is amazing. Poor release tho.

If this game had settlement management in Brecken's Tower, I would never stop playing it. Imagine looting resources to help your community get food, weapons and maintain building infrastructure, as well as keeping safe areas from zombie invasions to maintain resource logistics.
I think there was a mobile game like this, but it was shut down fsr
So what we had in dying light 2 but with people who are likeable?
Imagine a settlement building feature like the one fallout 4 has but for dying light 1 ? I would never stop playing this game, ever.
so... State of Decay?
@@Ape8658 Nah, it should be much more than what we got in Fallout 4. I've been playing it a lot recently and I'm constantly thinking how much better the settlement system could've been. Imagine being able to form squads who go out to scavenge locations you've cleared or to secure resource nodes with logistic networks which hauls the resources back to base and you could hire people to utilize said resources and make weapons, armor and ammunition. There could've been natural rivalry between settlements which eventually turns into faction warfare for numerous reasons, water scarcity for example. I don't think this stuff would be too difficult to create since there are many 4x strategy games which already have it figured out.
I never noticed that first one. For some reason, I always feel like Harran is in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it. Knowing there's a functioning bustling city right outside of the walls is insane to realize.
I used to just veg out on the roof at night after playing for hours; usually drunk. I remember just chillin there watching the outside portions of the city, trying to pinpoint where the walls were running and such.
Fun attention to detail.
Dying light drinking game. Every time I found a bottle of alcohol it would equal 2 sips of whatever alcohol I had irl.
After finishing the game, Rais's soldiers will only appear in the old city next to their own boxes.
Hard to believe the people who made this masterpiece also made the slop that is DL2.
Is it not good? Never played
@@ken-ip4ih its not.
story writers were changed
Is funny to play.. I almost did not try it cause of general opinions. But it was worth it. Many more options on parkour and the combat system. And yes, the main story is hard to feel.
Well now we have fire guns and tolga and Fatin are somewhere in the game and is really curious how they are here.
Not a bad game but Not a good game at the same time. On launch, hell yeah it was crap, but you gotta give techland credit for adding more stuff and not abandoning the game.
i love the idea in dying light that its only one specific portion of the world that is "zombified" and the rest of the world is just ordinary
This game was the first game in a long time that made me feel something. It took me a little bit, but i started connecting with the characters pretty hard. And the way some of these missions play out, man...for as old as this game is, its really gripping. Best 8 bucks ive spent in a loooong time
The one dead that got me was rahim
@@unrulybot1352 yea, he was the whole reason i posted this...bring a grown man to tears. My guy didnt deserve what he got

I've always seen the difference between the starting zombies and late game zombies as the contamination evolution.
Like, in the beginning virals are regular people who turned, later, the viral seems like runners who turned due to the antzin crisis.
Also, the virus having time to evolve makes the zombies deadlier
Kyle crane is actually kinda cute fr.
crane got dat rizz

5:06 I love the way crane changes his voice too be more passive tone he is the goat too kids
And in 7:58 you can hear his cynism and malice in his voice too. Crane is taunting him before he finishes him off. Two different sides of the same coin
The 5 years I spent with this game were magical. The best times I've EVER HAD in gaming, and I've been at it since 1982! Most notably the two friends from Holland and the one from Japan that I met through DL. We would meet up at Jasirs farm, bust each other's chops and trade weapons and wait to take on invading Hunters. We would either make them rage quit, or some apex predator would come in and destroy us. Sessions would average 4-5 hours, such epic fun.
I thought I was going insane thinking that the rais thugs zombies got more and more plentiful as you kill them
Thanks for the video, it really tickled my fancy now that I’ve finished the game.
that radio static detail blowed my mind, good video man
Few years after finishing this game I realized, that I actually miss it
The zombies changing appearance is cus the virals are newly infected, so the original ones in regular clothes have deteriorated into regular zombies. Meanwhile, newer runners and also Rais's guys, who wear different clothing, are now starting to get infected and turn to runners
This game was on another level. A level its successor isn't.
I'm spanish and i never tried the game with voices on english, i always said spanish was better but after seeing the english version of Tahir's death made it 10x times better than Spanish. Colder, enraged... Jeez that was top tier voice acting right there. 🌟🌟
True. I was pretty impressed by Crane's voice acting
Brazilian is pretty cool, besides some technical issues
@@roxinim6479 i need to try brazilian one day.
Of course it all matters on the respective actor, im sure in many games the Spanish actors are much better
@@james5076 borderlands 2 and 3 are comedic masterpieces.
I honestly hope that they put in the dynamic day and night cycle into Dying light 2 and the weapon degradation in as well, like they had for Dying light.😊
cant tell if this is satire or you being fr
Is this a joke? They did add that.
Boy do I have news for you buddy
Oh brother this guy 😂
Those in the comments no they didnt add dynamic sky.
If you repair a weapon you can see the metal put on it to hold it together
great vids man keep going
this game was just something else. A gem that will be remembered as one of a kind
Just goes to show the level of detail is insane.
the weapons changing after use in my opinion is the easiest part to spot, as each weapon comes with 3 repair kits. the weapon gets more and more broken and bent the more you use the repair kits. they also deal less damage after the first damage repair
Another fun fact you can find a note that indicates the ground slam skill isn't just gameplay mechanic but people can do it canonically in Harran.
The antenna thing is like a typical zombie survival game mission of trying to restore communication in the area. I'm nearly finished with my playthrough of the base game and I legit didn't notice that subtle detail that the static clears up after you fix the antenna.
The lights from cities outside the quarantine is a nice touch.
I think the virals resembles rahim and jade after you beat the game, i know that there is a lot of models but i am sure that they do it intentionally to triggers memories
thats one thing, the other thing is at the start zzombies look like they got infected while the city was falling down and at the end there are more zombies that look like survivours you see in game
@@adamrozpedowski4831 ah yes now it make sense, the military zombies was survivor for some time and then they fails
They do it because those specific models are stronger than the other models and those stronger models resemble jade and rahim simply because of budget, not to trigger memories. Dying light didn’t have a very good budget so they reused tons of assets. Can’t imagine what this game would’ve been if it had gotten a far bigger budget. They probably would’ve just continued updating this game rather than moving on to the sequel.
I remember seeing the city lights at night for the first time, I couldn't help but smile while also feeling so alone and excited all at once
I remember that the airdrop mission saving the kid thing was in one of the the original trailers
in the 3rd person Rais fight, I never noticed how boxy Kyle's arms are.
I do remember noticing the radio being crystal clear when we repaired the antenna but these details are just crazy. Just another reason why this is my all time favorite ❤ gotta replay this shit again now that I'm on ps5
those dancing zombie scene is a fever dream
Bro I beat this game like 3 times and I didn’t know a single one of these things. Great video
I noticed that after i did the Tahir boss fight, once I got back to the streets of old town, two infected begged me to wait after damaging them, then went back to normal zombie habits. Was not expecting it at all and the first time I have seen that. Just picked the game up on sale for $9 including DLC.
I have found quite a lot of glitches on my own and one of them is a flying glitch. Although it is a bit harder to fly with, it is less complicated. You need to be able to jump off enemies and have the grapple hook for it. What you do is you run up to an enemy, (needs to be an enemy so you can grapple hook them) so you run up to an enemy, and jump off them and grapple hook at the same time and sometimes it can take a couple tries
Bro i love your Dying Light content, God bless you and your family forever 🙏
When jade and crane scene
looking at this after 800 hrs of dying light 2 this game still finds ways to out do its sequel and its amazing
The nailed all the small details👌
wow, i love how the surrounding cities don't give less of a shit about the poor souls in the QZ. But then when THV gets out, oh noe! It's a clusterfuck XD another great video as always
That final cutscene has my palms sweating, again!
Just finished this game last night and it was one of the best gaming experience for me 🙌
The amount of love they put into DL1 is so much more obvious after DL2😢
the day night cycle is just so much better with it being dynamic, with 2 sure its dynamic but they did it in a way where its kinda static as opposed to the skybox actually moving like here in DL1
Yeah but I also get it with dying light 2, I mean I hate that the sun just teleports through out the sky at certain times, but techland said that the reason for that is for the lighting, they said that having the sun and moon stay in place let's them give better realistic lighting wheras if it was constantly moving (like in dying light 1) then the lighting wouldn't be as consistently good, which makes sense as sometimes in dying light depending where the sun moved it made it very hard to see things at daytime as either it was in your face blinding you or it was hidden behind a building making it dark, wheras dying lighr 2 they have different light maps baked into the different stages of where the sun is, so every few hours in game when it hits certain time and the sun teleports it loads up the new baked in light map to try and give more consistent lighting
@ashleybarnes9343 it's no excuse the lighting in 1 was more realistic
@@DayMan.. I never said it was a excuse, I was just stating the reasons they gave us
It’s jarring how Dying Light 1 has less and simultaneously more features than the sequel. The zombies don’t even watch the sunset in 2.
man the amount of details I missed as I played, what a great game Dying Light is
yo the city lights oner is so cool
I also noticed that when the sun starts to set all the walkers will look up at it and seem to forget about everything including the player even if you start running circles around them (idk if this was already known but my dumbass took until my third run to notice it)
Idk if anyone noticed, but the virals you encounter are former runners of the tower. You can tell by the way they're dressed
I did the flying thing by randomly while playing, its fun to see here again!
The weapons actually look even more different when you repair them. There are a few exclusions tho, like Korek Machete which looks same all the time, only with more blood on it, if I remember correctly.
I remember I pre ordered this game just before release, I was so excited. Today it is still one of my favorite zombie games, along with Last of Us.
Miss this so much
they need to bring back weapons appearance after use
it makes you feel you're slightly vulnerable as the weapons are almost broken
Very nostalgic i miss this game a lot
Wow didn't know you could watch the building blow up
8:13 damn that one liner is actually good
And man i miss Crane VA he was such a great VA
the third person thing got me. And that its not a thirdperson game, but cyberpunk devs says "uhhh impossible to do this"
I love this game so much

Top 10 Kyle Crane moments that made me respect him as a character
I always got confused with people turning on the lights. I thought everyone was dead
no everyone is still alive outside the quarantine in the beginning, i mean that’s how crane was sent in. spoilers: also at the end of the following DLC when u become the night hunter, u can see crane coming out of the sewer system and it leads directly into the uninfected town
I mean, right at the beginning, the game, it explains that you're in a quarantine zone....
Hahah when the zombie caught on fire while dancing made me laugh 😂
Dying Light is a certified masterpiece
i actually forgot how they made a border from harran and the city which was still not infected yet from the virus, this was actually quite a cool detail to notice. 0:12
I always noticed the city lights from trying to take in the view of the enviroment
I never put together that more zombies in the late game wear Rais' uniforms because Crane has killed so many by that point, but it's a cool detail.
proof you can really tell if a developer love their game. sad the old team not there to make dying light 2
This is such a great game.
LOL...the team that made Dying Light 2 had to make it more like Dying Light in order to make it better.
E3 is better in dying light 2
Didnt even realise there was another city right next to the quarantine zone
That "WOULD YOU JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP" hits so goddamn hard
Truly one of the best zombie games of all time
last sentence goes hard af
‘Without you knowing’ these are the most common sense things in DL, either that or I’m weird and noticed all of these early on so it doesn’t surprise me
Stands greater than the sequel
With the city lights, it's interesting to think that civilization is still functioning outside of the quarentine zone. But here you are, fighting desperately for your life every night.
God I love this game.
The new zombies are the runners from the tower and Rais’ men
I wish you could get near the edge of the quarantine zone and see guards or soldiers or something other then just a wall because you're telling me volatiles didn't just rush that city lol
Dying light was peak and will always be, played this for hours and BF4
A true game with depth and soul.
Here's a thought. Just imagine how scary it must be to live just outside the quarantine zone. You'd probably hear Volatiles shrieking every night!
I knew all of this, but not the kid one. Congratz on being better than DL2 :D
It's such a great things to see DL content still in 2024.
Such a perfect game 🤍
So much Detail in this game.
