  • Come along while I clear 8-10in of fluffy snow. Long video for the Bolens fans! This is a 1979 Bolens HT-23. It has the 58cu.in. engine (K582), opposed cylinders, 23hp. Eaton transmission. It has a similar wheelbase and wheels size as a Kubota BX23. It weighs around 1,100 lbs and it's only a rear-wheel drive.
    The studded chains on the rear wheels make it a real workhorse.

    Great video Joe!! Pro tip, which Joe has figured out, it you lift your plow as you finish your run, you can make a ramp of snow which will refreeze and you can drive up it the next time you plow! I do love the sound of your Bolens! Wow!

    Salut Joe!!! Nice job plowing with the Bolens. Small but capable, like my Massey Ferguson!!! LOL What a difference those chains make eh!!! Thanks again for the tip on where to get them. I am very pleased with mine. The wings on your plow are pretty neat too. I'm going to look at making a set for my plow. They're great for plowing the landing, but what I like most is they are easy to remove for doing your lane. That's the feature that makes me want to make a set. If you don't mind, I'll borrow your design!!! Take care Joe and Bonne Soiree!!!

      Hey Reg! It takes a lot of strain to slow down the Bolens. Then I have 2 ranges. High and Slow... So very seldom do I use the Slow range. Anyways, with a thick layer of wet snow, I don't use the Bolens, as the plow does not lift very high, I only rely on the fact the snow is dry enough to "roll" or "flow" in front of the plow. The Case must have some job too! I am going to catch up with video editing... So the video for the canopy should come soon! Thanks!

    My bad you do have a snow box on the case. That has to push well with the weight of the blower on the back. For whatever reason I thought you had a paved driveway. I retract the blower suggestion as well. You don't need stones flying every where, the way your set up they just end up in the snow pile giving you the atvantage of mass to help sustain the pile into spring!

    • @FromSteelToWood
      @FromSteelToWood  Před 4 lety

      Lol! That is a good thought for the rocks piling into the snow pile. But it does not work this way... As a matter of fact, they are also a catalyst to rapid melting! Being dark, they absorb more heat... Unless very necessary, I never use the snowblower on the first snowfall. I'll use it only when the snow base is well established. Where I live, snow will come sometimes during November and will finally end melting during April. This year, we've been having a permanent snow cover since early November... I think the snow box and the snowblower are required here. An angle plow is not too good. Only good for quick easy clearing (2-3in snow). Thanks!

      On my side, for chassis parts:
      www.samsbolens.com/bolens-parts-department
      I don't know if they carry parts for the Iseki models.
      My engine is a Kohler K582, which is also different than your Iseki engine. For Kohler, I go to ISaveTractors.com, but they don't seem to carry parts for Iseki.

      You might also ask to Corey, he has a CZcams Channel where we can see him use his Bolens G152. He might have some more information for you. Tell him Joe Lesage sent you there... Thanks!
