  • A comprehensive test of Audi latest assist system called traffic jam assist. As name suggests, it has its usage in stop and go traffic, mainly at highways and multi-line roads. It can steer and accelerate and stop the Q7 or Q8 up to speed of 64kmh.You can let go of the steering for up to sixty seconds.
    To see how it works in real driving scenarios, make sure you watch my video
    Thanks and see u soon.

    I just picked up a (used) 2018 AUdi S5 Convertible with these features, and I didn't know what they existed when I bought the car. Learning this through trial and error was so cool.

    Boas,sou de Portugal e tenho um Q7 2018. A minha pergunta é se todos tem o mesmo sistema de estacionamento e de andar automático na estrada?

    Great video! Just picked up a new 2020 SQ5. I hope it has this feature, disappointing if it doesn’t. I noticed the q7 can park itself using the Audi app. I’m waiting for a sim adapter to arrive so I can see if my SQ5 can too. The salespeople only knew enough about the car to sell it and I struggle finding the information

      Congratulations. Well the self parking feature depends on specific market availability. We dont have that option here on Slovakia. All te best with your SQ5

    1 As you moving in your lane then this automatic work BUT if another small vehicle like bike come QUICKLY from another lane to your lane then it work?
    2. can we believe 100% on it ?

    • @SamuelDrives
      @SamuelDrives  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi Jabir.
      1. Well the intent of the system is to assist you in a traffic jam, it's not a level 5 of autonomous system. Bike or some cyclists can poise a thread to this system. This, however, hasn't occurred to me yet, so I not able to tell you specifically how the system would react to this scenario. But in case of emergency Audi pre sense is able to brake in front of bikes as well as cyclists, so you should be relatively safe.
      2. No definitely not. This is a real world with many variables that this current gen tech is unable to solve or react to. You must keep an eye on the road at all times.

    Every 60 second you must touch Steering wheels? What happen if you not touch it? Some people said to me that you can use some things like the Small water bottle or small rock ( have weight =]]]) and tie it in the steering wheels, then you dont need to touch it except some dangerous happen

    • @SamuelDrives
      @SamuelDrives  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi, the period in which you have to touch the steering wheel depends on the speed you're travelling. When the Traffic Jam Assist is activated, you don't need to touch the steering up to 2 min. BUT, when speeding on a highway you can go around 30-40 s without active interaction on steering. When you don't engage, it just leaves you.. :/ So when the noise sound you better hold the wheel :D. I tried using the water bottle, with different weights, however, I wasn't successful at achieving the full automation. If you want to know more, or have another question don`t hesitate to contact me.

      Really, i just finish install this system for my car, i expect it can- in some case , auto driving. Like 23P system of Mercedes, every 60s the car will warn you to touch the steering wheel, but if you tie something, car will not warn you anymore, so i think Audi is the same..:)))

    • @SamuelDrives
      @SamuelDrives  Před rokem

      I'm afraid that you have to buy a OBDII adapter and programme it in, if its not pre installed. There are no settings directly in the MMI to turn it on.

  • @cucubits
    @cucubits Před 5 lety +3

    Very cool but I wish they had longer timeout periods. More than 5 seconds when traffic is stopped and more than one minute before having to touch the wheel. I wonder how hardcoded these are, if it possible to hack somehow.

    • @SamuelDrives
      @SamuelDrives  Před 5 lety +1

      Exactly I was thinking the same. Definitely the hardware is capable enough. If you have some hack codes, you can send them to me I will test it out and let you know😂

      Push a bottle of water into the steering. Thats it..

    • @SamuelDrives
      @SamuelDrives  Před 5 lety +1

      Well yes that works, but problem is system could disengage without any sign of warning. That might be quite dangerous, especially if you are relying on it.

      BMW has 30 seconds automatic re-start in ACC with Driving Assistant Pro. Audi should go higher than 5 seconds. Otherwise it becomes tiring in stop and go traffic. Even Toyota now has auto restart for 10 seconds.

  • @ruthlessluder
    @ruthlessluder Před 5 lety +1

    For the US version, the ASS (auto start/stop) is disabled when ACC is on. Not sure why they make it that way.

    • @SamuelDrives
      @SamuelDrives  Před 5 lety

      That's strange. In start stop traffic it can potentially save decent amount of fuel when the engine shuts off. You have Q7?

      It is available in US market too but you must have the ACC with the Traffic Jam Assist or Stop/Go Function. I have it on both 2019 A6 and Q7 models. It doesn’t quite last 5 seconds like the guy in video described, but it does start on own after 1-3 seconds from complete stop.

    My Q7 breaks even when the front driver isnt breaking. Now I know why!!! Also why doesn't my Driver Assist come on at every stop light? I have a Prestige 2018 Q7

    • @SamuelDrives
      @SamuelDrives  Před 5 lety +1

      I'm glad I could explain this "secret" to you 😂. Well in order for the driver assist feature to engage there are a lot of criteria to be fulfilled in order of the system to turned on.

      Once a week is not very often indeed. It should work more often. Maybe you have some problem with the system, therefore I would consider consulting it with your dealer. Or if you are from Slovakia 🇸🇰 you can call me 😂

    0:52 "and of course the laser sensors"... Are you sure they are laser sensors?
    3:48 "or read the news" - surely you don't recommend reading the news under any circumstances of driving... Your full attention should be on the road, no matter which driver-assist functions are active!

    • @SamuelDrives
      @SamuelDrives  Před rokem +1

      Hi, my bad you are right only A8 has laser scanner, on Q7 they are radar based. On your second remark I can't agree more with you 😄, however it's better to have them actived when when someone is gonna be on phone (which is of course illegal)

    you need to get better at your videos. i love the subject but is damn near impossible to follow what you are saying because of that damn music overlay, plus another distracting thing is that you don't talk about what the image is showing, so i'm trying to listen to you in the same time as i'm trying to figure out what the video is showing. good luck
