My cousin was home sick on 9/11 when 93 crashed less than 6 miles outside of his home. The shelves over his bed that held heavy books, trophies and other items that were hard with a lot of weight collapsed during the crash landing on his face and head. 33 surgeries, countless time working with mental health specialists, speech therapists and doctors has left him more or less the same. He had a TBI from the collapse and became a totally different person. Violent, unable to commnicate and easily flustered. He was court ordered to a long term care facility. He'll likely spend the rest of his life in there...breaks our hearts that he will never be the same and isn't living the life he wanted. He has times were he doesn't remember the people who were once so close.
My cousin on my moms side was called to serve 6 tours in Iraq. He also was never the same person. Loud noises, flashing lights, being in the dark...a lot of things messed with him. Horribly so but he never told us just how bad it was. He took his life just over 2 years ago. In his note, he talked about what war did to him. To be away from his girlfriend, daughter, his dog was enough but the stress of war was something our family didn't know about until it was too late.
Thank you for your masterpiece direction, Ben. The video moves me to tears with so many emotions like countless others experience. Your vision was beautiful and your art perfectly brought out. Thank you for giving families of war a relatable storyline. The hardest part was not knowing if my cousin would come back alive. The rising US casualties and nights wondering if he was ok that so many felt for loved ones sent to serve was captured so perfectly. You did an AMAZING job ❤ thank you.

Even if both live, nobody wins mentally. I'm just as fucked up from my one deployment as finding out that my buddy borrowed a car a week after I got out and drove it at 110mph into a side rail. Killing him and destroying the car. I used to drive for him. The company literally asked me to keep an eye on him because his wife was trying to take everything. One week after I left he was gone.

As a (medically) Retired Soldier, I am pissed that my brothers and sisters in arms I never had the chance to meet have died for a war that turned out to be a loss for everyone, but the ones we fought so hard for the past 20 years. I am, on one hand, glad that it is officially over. For now, hopefully for awhile but you never know.

I did 3 tours to Afghanistan myself and met my fiance on my second tour, who was also from Minnesota. The relationship started out great, but he became abusive and struggled with alcoholism from losing friends while on deployment, as well as I did. I struggled for years with alcohol, suicide, later diagnosed as suffering from PTSD and other mental illnesses, my fiance who was infantry deployed to Iraq he was on a mission and drove over an IED, blowing his leg off. I never heard from him again. Despite your political views on war in both countries, think about the soldiers who lost their lives defending our great nation. As a combat medic, wore me down hard, it was a challenge every day to get up and go to work. It all haunts me to this day. I miss all my friends who were killed and who committed suicide because of being in war and their families who no longer have them in their life. It's an intense video and a powerful song.

I applaud you for doing this video because I couldnt. Multiple deployments in Afghanistan and the middle east. This, along with a few other videos set off triggers that put me back in countless firefights. Too many TICs, too many brothers not coming home. It's videos like this that put me back in those places and it's hard to deal with, it's hard to face. As you said there are no winners. Every time I see these reactions regarding your country and the militaryservice it breaks my heart. I’m fortunate to live in Norway, and we as a country has strong ties to America, but I have also seen how the «land of the free» has gone down and under since Iraq. It’s really sad to see, because it feels like the people in the US don’t want it to be like this.
I pray that your politicians will come together and find a new path for your citizens, you all deserve better.

I have seen and listened to this song/video countless times before, but every time it makes me cry. I am not a veteran and have never served. My parents are not veterans. I have never personally known anyone who was. Recently I met this girl and she's amazing. Her name is Shabnam, and she was born and raised in Afghanistan. Her English is not the best as Persian is her native tounge. Yet she is one of the kindest, sweetest and bravest people I have ever had the joy of meeting. I cannot fathom what she experienced over there, but I know that America is still really surprising to her. I never thought that I would meet anyone who opened up my view like she has. She has made me realize some of the pretty crappy things on both sides of these stupid conflicts. And I am proud to say that she- one of my best friends- has changed me for the better.

They did a fantastic job touching on the multiple things here that isn't always portrayed in media, interracial couples, women in combat, and for this video most importantly, the other side. The NAZIs also pressured people into roles they rather not be in, sure the SS were pieces of shit, but there were people like this guy that didn't really want to fight, this guy being a father and husband like myself, seen as the enemy for obvious reasons and how could those troops have known otherwise in what was depicted? Then he gets killed and now we have a widowed wife and some children that lost a father, which is the terrible commonplace in war, both sides, and airstrikes blew up how many innocent people in warzones? Casualties there were certainly higher, but suicide is still destroying American families also, really a shame.

One Problem I Have With This Music Video Is That It's Comapring The Resistance Who Are Definding Thir Country With Usa Who Is The Invader That Isn't Ok If The Usa Didn't Invade These Counries There Wouldn't Have Been A Need For Resistance, Also They Way They Show The Middle Eastren's House Is The Peak Of Racasim I Don't Know Anyone Who Lives In A House Like This Other Than Very Very Poor People
