Fishing in Melbourne's MOST pressured Redfin Lake

- Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of Luke's Fishing. In today's video I decided to film and upload a video at one of Melbourne's most over fished Redfin lakes. The conditions weren't great with all the weed around however, my mate and i still managed to pull out some nice fish. At lakes like this it is always important to make sure you release the fish, so either myself or another fisherman can enjoy the fishery for the years to come.

Excellent work on the catch and release. Really more should be doing this. So many lakes I’ve fished lately which are pretty much empty due to people eating everything they catch. Complete stupidity
Nice Catch Bro
Nice session there! Have you tried using Strike Tiger 3" pro-series minnow soft plastics in 'Orange Spawn'? The big redfin seem to really go for them.
Hi there, thanks for watching! I’ve never tried them, I’d be happy to go back to this lake and make a video if you wanted to send me a packet :)
Couple of big dogs chilling under those timber walk areas last few days in the sun but are uninterested. Weed forests are insane these days
Just wondering what this lake is called?
Hoping that they have a good spawn this year, been catching a lot of nice ones but all skiny and needing a feed
Gday mate where is this in melbourne
Always the same there!! Horrible water quality and locald constantly asking, "did you just catch that" lmaoo.
lol old mate seemed baffeled at the catch and release concept
He was probably back there that night trying to catch them all
Great show guy's
Nice to see them released
Wanna go tomorrow is tuff to fish and would it still be good fishing
What lake mate pls looking for a suburban Redfin spot
for ages
South morang lake. I recognise it lol
@@19ZOLTAN18 you are very wrong
Craigiburn lake
@@thealpha4300 to be exact highlands/ Aiken creek lake
Where we’re you fishing like what is the lake called
Dog dog special at the start
Actual reason the fish numbers are decreasing is not by people taking them it's because the lack of food available and the adult fish eating the eggs and juveniles to survive..Taking fish out and reducing the numbers can actually increase the size and numbers in enclosed waterways..Other option is to feed them like they do in fish farms
That is not true. There is plenty of food in here, as you can see that Redfin are thick and healthy. If there was no food you'd catch a lot of small skinny fish and that's not the case. Also back in the day before a lot of people used to fish here, you'd get multiple fish in the 40s and a heap of other good size fish.
Yes plenty of food, their own offspring..Lesser the competition for food the bigger the fish grow..How many small redfin do you catch, probably very few and I mean small ..None I saw you catch were under 20 cm 1:16 g
@@lukesfishing4921so your a catch an release fisho aye?
When i fished that place reguarly around 2017 my best 4 fish in a day was a 47cm, 46cm and two 42cm fish. I havnt fished it for few years now don't live in the area anymore but must try next time I'm down that way be curious to see what sizes it still produces @@lukesfishing4921
where is that lake
and nice fish
Where's that at?
Whats the lake called? Sad to hear people are keeping them too🙄
nice mate what rod are you using
Where is this spot
what spot bro
Where is that lake
you wanna exchange snaps cause i’m looking for mates to fish with i got none 😂
where’s this
VR Fish, "There are no bag or size limits for Redfin in Victoria. The Victorian Fisheries Authority encourage anglers not to return Redfin to the water as they prey on native fish species"
This is an urban man made lake in the middle of the suburbs. No native fish here
@@lukesfishing4921still no reason to let a feral species loose. If remove them, then perhaps could restock with a native species
yes you throw back your redfin and go home and have birdseye fishingers for dinner..
I'm more of a KB's Tempura Battered Whiting kinda guy tbh
that lake is so dirty council has to do smt about it
It sort of sustains itself. Eventually all the weed will die off
@@lukesfishing4921 what did you catch the fish on?
Yea I cringe seeing people take reddies from these recreational ponds...then again it's usually the older generation that grew up in worse financial times.
Yeah it's pretty annoying and sad to see but not much you can do I guess
Would be gross eating them from there yuck hahah
😌 *Promosm*
the fishing seems to get worse at city ponds every year
This year is definitely the worst year I've ever seen for local reddies. However with that said, I have had some success at new ponds that I've found pond hopping
That old guy would eat slime off the rocks if he hooked it
Get out of my lake
I wonder who showed you that lake
@@lukesfishing4921 yeah i know where the lake is but i forgot the name, whats the name of the lake?
You’re not too bright aye. If you don’t take some Redfin they over populate the water as they are prolific breeders then the whole lake is full of stunted small Redfin as there’s too many fish chasing the same food supply. Before you start spouting you should learn some facts.
Secondly if you’re so concerned about releasing fish it’s probably best to not spin them around by their bottom lip and release them carefully instead of just launching them back. Dick.
You're an absolute dopey cunt. The big fish eat the smaller ones thinning out the population. You sound like a Redfin expert so you should know that. If you take the bigger reddies they'll all stunt and you'll find the lake will be full of 20cm reddies. Get the fuck off my page sad cunt
