- Loose skin and fat on the arms can be both aesthetically and functionally problematic. Aging and weight loss can cause the upper arm skin to lose elasticity resulting in the loss of the arm’s contour. No amount of exercise can tighten that skin back up but there’s still hope. From surgery - also called a Brachioplasty or Arm Lift - to less invasive procedures, Dr Martin and Amy discuss the solutions to get rid of the dreaded “bat wing”.
I would rather you take your time more than a shorter surgery thanks for the great info
I’m binging on all your videos 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻I appreciate all the time and effort put in these videos to empower and educate us. It also gives us confidence in your work. Can’t wait for my consultation in July 2022!
Hi Gheorghina! So glad you've found us and are enjoying the podcast!
Indeed very informative and inspiring for patients to understand the parts the need to change. Keep it up.
Thanks, Victoria!
Thank you so much I appreciate all the information and honesty. I have my surgery in two weeks. I have been researching for awhile now. And this video gave me so much understanding after massive Weight loss.
Hi Latoya! Good luck with your surgery! So glad to hear our video was helpful!
I would much rather have the scar than what I have now. I don't care if I still have some jiggle to my arm afterward, but I am having a hard time wearing sleeves comfortably.
Yes! The scar heals and is barely visable but it's a worthwhile trade off!
Thank you ❤
Thank you for watching!
This was a great informative Video ♡♡
Thank you for watching!
This was so helpful....Thank you so so much!
Thank you for listening! So glad you found it helpful!
@@JasonMartinMD Although I kinda do wonder if I am the ideal candidate for the actual full procedure...
For most people, if you think you need the full brachioplasty, you probably do. We all want to avoid the long scar but it really is a great tradeoff for loose skin and fat!
@@JasonMartinMD How much does the full brachioplasty procedure cost?
Hi Paola, the cost of costmetic surgery is highly customized to the patients needs and therefore does not have a pre-set price. When considering the cost be sure to factor in not only the surgeons fees but also the operating room and anesthesia. Depending on where you are located the cost will likely vary from $5000-10,000.
I really need to know where to get the pillows for sleeping after surgery that Amy some of.
Here's a link for the pillow system: a.co/d/dqaiESI
Great explanation. Thanks so much. I am a candidate. I am 65 yrs old next week and I am not overweight at all but i do have skin laxity due to my age. And I hate it. I have had cosmetic surgery to my face and neck but not to my body but it’s time. Thanks again.
Hi Denise, thanks so much for watching! Skin laxity catches up with all of us at some point! Our patients are universally happy with their brachioplasty results and I'm sure you will be as well!
I have this surgery planned for 2 weeks from now and my main concern is if I'll miss any work beyond 10 days post-op. I work a desk job.
Hi Jessica, thanks for watching! In our experience 10 days off is more than adequate to return to office/desk work. You will still have a somewhat limited range of motion but should be fine driving, typing, and completing other normal work tasks. Good luck and happy healing!
Those who opted for the Bodytite three years ago who received satisfactory results, I am wondering if they’ve had to return by now for repeat procedure.
Hi Michelle, no, as long as you maintain your weight your liposuction/BodyTite results will maintain. BodyTite is not a replacement for formal surgery for those who need skin removal.
Does the procedure include removal of under arm fat, extending to the breasts.
Hi Anne, an arm lift does not typically address the breast tail or back but can be combined with a breast lift or back plasty to also address excess breast tissue. We discuss those options in our episode about upper body lifts. Thanks!
The scar is why I have put this procedure off for years and years... I really thought new techniques would be developed making this more visually pleasing...
Hi Prity, thanks for listening! Yes, the scar is lengthy and I totally understand your concerns but it really does fade!
There ARE other procedures that will give you the look you are looking for.
Look up scarless arm lift, minimally invasive brachioplasty and vaser liposuction with renuvion / jplasma.
There are many new techniques that can create the look you are looking for.
I just want to know the average cost.
Hi Hayley, the cost of a brachioplasty varies greatly based on the type of brachioplasty (mini, full, modified, etc) and length of surgery. A very broad range for brachioplasty surgery would be $5500-8500, plus the cost of OR and anesthesia. We provide a complete breakdown of all costs after a consultation. Thanks!
Hello i hand brachioplasty 3 months ago woke up from surgery with fingers numb and 2 fingers paralyzed does that happened when u have brachioplasty
Hi Syl, thanks for watching! It is not uncommon to have some numbness in the hands/fingers immediately after surgery. This will vary based on the type of anesthesia used during your surgery. How long did it take for your numbness to resolve?
@@JasonMartinMD Hello thank you so much for responding no change fingers paralyzed and numb just getting worse now suffering from muscle Atrophy and pain..
@user-ve5sy7xe9s what did your surgeon say about this happening to you 😳
@@tierralibra5867Hello, He said he never had this problem. I had surgery with a specialist...I'm still recovering from sugery don't know the out come going through therapy pretty much I'm still disabled from my arm and hand..I had nerve damage..
You guys have the worst chemistry and look one step away from yelling at each other the whole time.
Hi Ravens, sorry you feel that way. We’ve been happily working together for 13 years!

I disagree. I felt this was a fantastic presentation and the collaboration between you both were professional and educational. Thank you for the excellent information!
They’re actually characters together. You just didn’t get the dry humor.
@@JasonMartinMD I've seen a 91 year old woman, in japan who started building up at 65
She lifts weights..to tone
She was getting chubby
I've even seen an 105 year old, who looks like her arms are "tight"
