Insane Power from the Flex Volt Stud/Joist Drill

  • Quick little video I whipped up while I had a rain delay from building. Typically all I use this drill for is to install 1/2" bolts through our post to truss connection or post to bracket connections. Most drill will suffice for the application. However, large hole saws.....will kill most drills. Not the Flex volt from Dewalt. This test never even phased it. At the end you can see the Milwaukee Super Hawg has no issues Either, and if you are in the market for a new drill, I can promise neither of these drills will disappoint. I'd go with which ever works into your battery lineup.

This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things czcams.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.

@@hi-ye4rz If you look up the safe drilling sizes and spacings on engineered joist (I beam) you may be surprised to learn just how big a hole you can drill. Typically the hole will take a 110mm soil pipe which seems alarming but in the right size joist is fine.

It's the holesaw, for those who never used FlexVolt line of blades and holesaws, they definitely pass the quality test AND they make your batteries last a hell of a lot longer, the only thing I will say is that they do not last as long as other blades, usually a good quality mitersaw 12" $120 dollar blade will last me 12-13 months and the FlexVolt one lasts me about 8-10 months, but doing the math on price 2 FlexVolt blades cost just as much as 1 good quality one,so it's the best bang for the buck

Chip evacuation is why that bit cuts so fast. A normal hole saw doesn’t evacuate chips or even dust for that matter and it build up on the teeth. Keep up the great vids. I’m glade I’m not the only one that loves to work!

I thought that the Dewalt would be bult and uncomfortable to use compared to tge super hawg but the dewalt was lighter and more comfortable to use and definitely more powerful I think Dewalt hit it out of the park going with 60v i don't think 18v can corded power but 60v can

When in reality you drill holes from the top with full force. Try to do it and keep the drill above your head or verticall. That wood is soft too. Anyway what job requires cutting holes these big in joices ? And one more thing how you gonna put that monstrosity between joices or hard to get areas ?
