Heard from someone that if you are displeased with your old work, it only means you’ve been improving your craft. So fun to watch you grow, Willem - truly inspiring.
That’s the truth haha! Thank you
You are an auwsome photography,,
You are an auwsome photographer
Good stuff my man, the shot at 6:15 is so freaking good that it makes me angry, so I need to go lay down for 30 minutes
Its a car and a light....?
what's good about this?
@@tonythrowaway3327 The rear light of the pass by car lit up the front of that parked car, it was a great moment to take the shot. Rare moments imo
I’m also curious why
It's not a rare moment, not a rare composition and no rare light. I'm not seeing it either. The same photo has been taken a thousand times with an iPhone and I see the same thing when I walk outside in the evening. But I came to accept CZcamsrs handing out handjobs to each other in comments. It comes with the territory. Bad for quality though.
The thing I love about the 6 x 4,5 is also the ratio aspect that is very close to the 35mm. I do not feel like a lost sheep when I switch from my 35 mm to my medium format
did you try a 135 wide back with yours? it does 35x56, thats an awesome format too.
The Mamiya 645 is timeless man I’m seriously glad you came back to the roots of medium format that got you you all started your honestly the reason why I got my Mamiya 645 Pro and I can’t put the thing down at all man thank for making this video it’s something I’ve seriously been wanting to happen for a minute now!
OMG this is a dream film camera. I love watching this kind of content the learning is genuine. Thank you so much. You're truly an artist. Wish I can afford film photography.
Hey Willem! I just recently bought my first film camera, and I am really loving talking photos with it! Your videos are awesome and very helpful! Thank you!!!!!
I have the Mamiya 645 AFD II
It’s my favorite medium format camera. I have a handicap and the autofocus helps me a lot.
man, it's so cool that you're doing this! i've been a photographer for 10 years now and got so hyped looking at your videos in regard to film!. keep up the good work!
WOOOO 2mins record!!! Cheers to another dope vid willem! Love the 645.
I have been looking for more videos on this camera as I bought it literally 2 days ago, and you post this? Wow, what a blessing you are Williem. I just realized I know your pictures from r/analog. You are an inspiration. Gotta say.
Been loving the frequent uploads lately!
Sweeet!
This is my current go-to camera, and the one that got me into medium format! Awesome video as always
Niceee, i've found your channel while looking for M645 review, and now you reviewed newer M645, this brings back memories.
I love my 645 super. Mine came with the 45, 80 2.8, 150, 2 film backs, auto winder, and some extention tubes. Focusing is so easy with its big, bright viewfinder. Love your channel.
Immediately clicked after I saw the upload notification!! love your vids man :)
Thank you!
Mijn favoriete YT'er als het gaat om analoge fotografie. Ga zo door Willem!
Groeten uit Nederland.
i feel like i never can shoot nyc. But you do it so effortlessly looking at certain things. This is def a eye opener for me.
This was so helpful! I spent all week debating whether or not it was worth the buy, I am now convinced. :)
If you have the money buy a Hasselblad 500 C/M it's awesome!
Rz67 does have mirror lock up functions. Screw in a cable release into the side of your lens. The mirror is locked up in position after you fire the main shutter, and then you press on the cable release to make the extra exposure. I’ve been doing this for a while and it works very well. You don’t need the “double cable release” thing.
Great to see that you just made it work even without the shutter release cable
I literally was looking at buying one today and then you posted this. Thank you!
Photography in restaurant is freaking amazing💚
Wish there were a restaurant like that in my city.
Always waiting for your amazing vids.
love the shot in Japan series! High QUALITY video as always!!!🔥
Love the style and the edit of this video! This camera looks goooorrrgeeousss
Love the vid! Id love to see a video on how you plan a photo shoot with a model. How you work out outfits, locations, poses and etc.
Man those diner portraits are beautiful. Great work man
Woah within 30 seconds of upload! 😊 Awesome video as usual!
Just bought a Mamiya 645 Pro TL and LOVE IT! Thanks for the inspiration and great photos! Medium format is making a comeback, BABY! Well, we'll see ha ha...
recently purchased the m645, so psyched to see you made a video about the 645!
I was actually watchoing those two videos today before this came out. Funny. Great job as always man.
Just bought the 645 pro because of this video. It's never too late, thank you man I love it!
woah, I definitely want this camera now. Great review Willem!
Gorgeous shots of the journalist!! Wow! Very inspiring! Just purchased the Pro...from Film Objectiv! Excited to start using it! Thx for the video!
love getting the post notification. always inspiring.
another sick video. as soon as I save up enough money i’m testing the one out. seems like the perfect beginners medium format camera which is perfect for me
Hi Willem. Couple of questions:
1. Could you share your method of archiving your work?
2. When you see an interesting location for a shot, do you list it down somewhere?
And of course, thank you for another great video :)
I just bought the RB67 and I haven't shot medium format before! I probably should have gone for the 645 but I'm excited anyway it'll be a learning curve.. I hope you can do a RZ67 and RB67 comparison one day :D Your photography is great!
ive been waiting for this review my guy !
Midway through this video i started looking for one for myself🔥🔥 BIG THANK YOU!
can't believe I've watched your stuff since that first photoshoot in the cafe! what!
Excellent review, very cool! thanks Willem. I love the photos in the diner too.
I have had a Mamiya 645 for 20 years. What a work horse! Lenses are superb and are super cheap now. Film processing is a challenge but have depth and detail better than 35mm. Image quality is same as a high end digital.
thank you so much for this video im in love with this and its gonna be my next pick up!!
Hey Willem, it'd be really cool to see a video breaking down or just showing your accepted Parsons portfolio. I find myself taking pictures of very similar scenes to the ones you photograph and after watching other accepted portfolio videos, I feel like portraiture and commercial photography are the most popular with art schools. It's a little bit discouraging to see a lot of the same stuff so I think it would be super cool to see your portfolio as you are a huge inspiration for me. Thanks man :)
great video, i found one of these in a box full of abandoned camera gear, now i just need to clean it up and try it out, this will be my first 120 camera
this has nothing to do with the miyama 645 (because the camera is dope!), i truly appreciate your videos. you always go straight to the point and talk in very details about the topic, which has helped me a tons in learning about film photography! truly appreciate your channel!
The shot of the Art Deco doors was really nice - both versions actually. But the portraits of the journalist were A+.
Hey man just thought I would give you a shout and let you know that the RZ67 can mirror lock up, it’s done through attaching a cable release to the lens, then firing the trigger on the body, you then can activate the leaf shutter with the cable release making the camera have a “mirror lock up”!! Literally got the RZ67 because of your videos keep up the insanely high quality of work your putting out!!!!
i'm pretty sure those Jinx portraits were some of the first work i saw from you my man! Great video as always
RZ67 does have mirror lockup, once you screw the cable release into the socket on the lens and then press the shutter on the camera, the mirror locks up.
It's a small detail, but I love how you describe photography as "making photos" not "taking photos". I think it's what separates "just anyone with a camera" from a true artist like yourself. Thanks for the great review, keep up the good work!
love your videos as always ✨
Just started looking at this camera and this review came out the next day!
Damn. I think you sold me on this camera! Been looking at Fuji GAs and GWs thinking I wanted something fully auto or something that shoots 6x9. The 6x9 is a tad intimidating at first and Im afraid to waste to many shots while I learn and I think I should just stick to 35mm for full auto... This was an awesome video, glad I watched.
oh my goodness, once i saw these portraits...i wanna buy one! well done!
cool stuff! The 645 is an interesting format!
dude that's wild those were your first two videos cause that's how I found your channel and I hadn't realized you had just started. I was looking up info on a Mamiya c330 and your videos were suggested ^_^
very nice photos there, mate! i truly appreciate that you put those in, instead of just talking head and b-roll of the gear. I'm thinking about getting that camera to shoot architecture, it's one of the smallest mf system with tilt-shift lenses.
Lupe’s! One of my favorites. I love how small that camera is, but so are the negs...compared to RZ.
Willem Verbeeck The 120 film was originally designed to give eight 6X9 negatives (8-on-120), to give compactness and greater film economy, cameras were made with two red windows giving 16 6X4.5 negatives (16-on-120). With a more modern camera like this, there's no need to use red windows to locate the frames, but Mamiya (along with others) decided to take 15 exposures on each roll, to give greater spacing between the frames. For mounted colour transparencies it is all very well, but it can make negative filing tricky: a negative filing sheet made for 120 cut into four lengths would easily accommodate each length with two 6X9, three 6X6, or four 6X4.5 as long as the 6X4.5 is shot as 16-on; but each strip of Mamiya 645 negatives, if as four frames, would be too long to fit comfortably, a factor to consider.
Wow! What a nice video, you cleared up my mind, I’m about to move from 35mm to medium format. Glad I saw this video today! ☺️
Your voice sounds so much more energetic when you’re outside in this video!
Think I may switch from my RB67 to the 645 after watching this. the portability plus the extra 5 frames per roll is worth it
late response but in case you read this: did You switch?
@@ronaldfleischer6136 Hey man, I actually ended up selling my RB67 and I don't own a medium format camera at the moment. I do miss it though, If I was to buy one again I might go for the RZ67 or the Pentax 67 - although I think the 645 is probably a good choice too
@@JacobCrowMains Hey Jacob! I understand that, i bought a RB67 from a friend (actually my second one, the first I sold too), for a short time I had the Mamiya 645 but it had a problem and I gave it back...definitely a nice camera and well...not a tank like the RB!
the RZ67 does have a mirror lock up function it's just a different mechanism to the 645, find the manual online and have a look
Shooting with the older model of this! It is reliable, cheap, and quality.
The lenses are also pretty cheap for the quality.
I have 16 shots on a 120 film
13 12 hey I’m looking at getting the 1000s older version. Is that the one that you have? Did you get a waist level view finder?
@@sheba134 waist level viewfinders are nice and cool to look at, but a pain in the ass if you want to take portrait photos
love your videos man, inspiring me to shoot film.
Omg! I love the shoot with the journalist. Its super 90s and retro.
Love how 645 is basically just a bigger 35mm negative, aspect wise. The Super is hella clean, might have to cop
Dude I love your work I’m so into getting a medium format camera
really love your portrait work Willem, especially 8:07 and 9:23
Litteraly just decided to get the 645 today - and here is your video. Coincidence? I think not! Awesome video as always! Thanks
I was so inspired by your videos I went and got a Minolta film camera. It's pretty old and needs to be serviced , it would be amazing if you could show everyone how you service your cameras. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. Was considering buying this at a camera trade show
Was literally looking for a M645 video and come to find out you just posted this
can you do like 35mm cameras review? Thanks love ur video
The answer is: Nikon F3 without the HP viewfinder. There you go :)
Nikon FE2
Well done man..love your work
The RZ67 does do mirror lock up, you just need the relevant cable release accessory in order to unlock this feature.Okay it's not native, but it's doable. I love both cameras!
Thanks heaps for this review. I've been wanting to get a medium format camera for a while now but the price and bulkiness of cameras like the rb/rz67 and pentax 67 weren't ideal for me. I'm definitely going to consider nabbing one of these now :)
love the vid man! Can you do one about directing a subject during a portrait shoot? or if not directing just how you generally work during a portrait shoot? it can be awkward and often feels forced for me..
I miss doing this in NYC :( Great vibes in this vid man!
Come back to new video upload from Willem on a monday night after work? So good
Thinking about buying a 645. After watching your video I'm pretty confident it's the right medium frame camera for me (a complete novice !) Thanks a lot Paul.
So much dynamic range on film. Love it
FINALLY a 645 Super review! Love it (:
nice man thanks for sharing! Can you do a video on how you get work for magazine shoots and other publications?
Thanks for that! I am using the 645 Pro TL and thought of buying the RZ67 maybe way too biased on your videos...I will re-think that now ;)
So I've been using my RB67 Pro-S a ton, and I'm wanting to get a 645 Super because I need something more compact that is medium format since I'm gonna be traveling next year....to Japan....You might as have made this video for me. Definitely going to be getting one. Thanks.
amazing photos . from portugal keep on the amazing work
great vid, as always :)
i've got a few questions about the camera though:
- are the pro and the pro-tl versions worth it compared to the super?
- is the meter reliable for long exposures / night-time fotography?
- have you tried it out with the 35mm panorama backs?
keep up the good work :D
The M645 Super lightmeter is perfect and you have the choice between Average, Spot, Automatic weighting (depending on subjects contrast) with the right dial on the prism top, the left dial is for expose compensation.
35mm panoramic back never existed for this camera, only regular 24x36 mm on 135 film
Really nice video as always! Just a question, do you always shoot portra 400 overexposed or not?
Those portraits are amazing!
The reflections in the back of the civic could have read "AIR" from the last letters of cafeteria. That would have been epic!
Impressive dynamic range out of that Portra
Thanks for the inspiration and great video!
i want one so bad 😭 i still can't get over how good these pictures look
I just bought a mamiya 645 1000S it's my first medium format camera. I'm super excited to shoot with it! What tripod were you using here?
See your learning some cool text effects. Looks so good
I'd love to know more about your process of taking a light reading ect 😊
The Mamiya 645 Super is prone to the mirror box damper snapping off, rendering the camera inoperable. Some internal plastic parts they used in the 80s are now deteriorating. I recommend the Mamiya 645 Pro or Mamiya 645 ProTL as they used newer plastics.
I had 2 bodies, great lenses especially the 45mm but they eventually spent more time in the repair shop so I moved on
I was about to buy one on ebay, a new old stock 645E, but I won an auction, a Rolleiflex for 210€, and it's even more portable and light to bring
