    My trip charge has been $100. min. but I think it is time to raise it to even $150. min. By the time I organize/pick up materials, driving time & gas it usually takes me 1-2 hours of my day. Thanks for the video!

      Thanks! I'm really proud of it! It's just some cedar pickets that were left over from a fencing job that I just finished and the decorations. I was able to pull off the walls from other places in the house. I'm trying to not squander the great opportunity I have with the business and the CZcams channel. For the first time in my life I'm doing things that I really love doing.

      There's good money in toilets. I need to get proper equipment for snaking and a good borescope. I'm lacking there.

    Inventory is absolutely an essential if you have room for it. I see clearance stuff all the time like today a standard kitchen faucet for $50. I know I can sell that cheap basic faucet to a client for 100. And now if I get the call just for new kitchen faucet I make money on the parts and labor ❤️

    I mostly work for individual homeowners and have regulations capping plumbing work for non-plumbers, so i always have homeowner buy the toilet themselves. I'm happy to pick up for a fee if they do HD or lowes pickup. I charge $250 labor plus a dump/disposal fee if they want haul away. That way I can do more units against my cap. Plumbers around here charge $350-500. One plumber charges $1000, labor only. I was shocked when I heard a few customers haad gotten that quoted. I guess that's why that company rolls around in $100k custom rigs.

    Great video! Regarding inventory, do you add a markup on the bigger ticket inventory items like toilets, faucets, etc.? I can see arguments made for having a markup and also not having one.

    • @bulletproofhandyman
      @bulletproofhandyman  Před rokem

      I don't specifically have a markup. If it comes out of inventory I just try to charge a few dollars over what I know the item would usually cost just to make sure I don't lose any money on it. The only time my materials are marked up is on larger jobs that I'm providing estimates for. I always give myself a decent buffer for all the unexpected things I may have to purchase. That's great question, and thank you for the engagement.

    Have you run into the problem where original faucet came from a wholesale plumbing supply and parts not available at big box? Moen and Delta seem to have different products at big box and different products at wholesale plumbing supply.

      It's extremely rare, but yes that happens. Luckily there is a small plumbing shop here that has literally everything I've ever needed when I run across discontinued, old, rare types of fixtures.

    How does the trip fee price change if I’m at the clients house with many things on my list, including multiple toilets with different issues?

    • @bulletproofhandyman
      @bulletproofhandyman  Před rokem +2

      $125 to start and after the first hour just add $100 per hour. Honestly should easily be more than that depending on the specific jobs since plumbing can be billed at a higher rate. The trip fee is just a minimum. Over time you'll work out the details of your pricing as you test rates. Just remember that's $100 an hour for working fast and smart and hard, not $100 an hour for casual work.

    what if a customer wants a really expensive toilet installed that exceeds your standard $350 charge how would you price it then?

    • @bulletproofhandyman
      @bulletproofhandyman  Před 4 měsíci +1

      If they want a more expensive toilet we're happy to do that with the price adjustment for the extra materials, but we have the $350 deal to make our property managers life a little easier.
