You didn't mentioned that Nikon has IBIS and that's a big deal for many people. I loved your review.
@Coo Koo colson works with him
Don't care at all. Lenses has an IS, that's enough for entry-level FF. Same with weather sealing.
P
@@SergeyCoder Not too many Z lenses, but that's Nikon's own thing. With IBIS you have stabilization on ALL lenses from newest thing to the oldest manual you can fit with adapters. After just while messing with my old lenses on Z body i'm blows away how great they became compared to using on my unstabilized nikon.
@@moroit1 there are plenty of Z mount lenses…. Get a grip
On z5 u also have; IBIS,1/8000 shutter, powering and charging, built in timelapse, focus stacking.
canon rp also has usb charging, built in timelapse, and focus stacking btw
@@kai_dek no ibis tho
Z5 also has dual memory card slots and weather sealing
also the nikon z5 has ibis for $1300 for some the few extra hundred will be well worth it
So does the much cheaper Sony A7 ii, which they conveniently left of of this comparison.
Evan Payton that’s true & the crappy video specs on the a7 ii are basically that on the z5 minus the cropped crappy 4k which is another interesting point why pay more ? it all comes down to the consumer most will buy any new thing & assume new is better but unfortunately this is not but since the z5 release the a7 ii & a7r ii are up in price now a7ii is $1500 at camera stores again & a7rii is $1700 😬 both marked more than the z5 new it makes no sense on 5+ year old cameras even with the a7c releasing for $1800 & the a7 iii being $1999 usd it’s very weird in the camera world right now even on nikons end the z6 ii & z7 ii releasing and the mark 1 models are like a $100-200 price difference kinda stupid but one thing for sure these will all be seeing a drop in price very soon there are too many cameras marked strangely close together
Don’t forget dual card slots!
@@SunnySoCal The A7ii and A7Rii are in fact still sold new as part of Sony's product offering, maybe you meant some people go for the "latest thing from the company they recognize the name of most". If you include the A7ii and A7Rii then both the RP and Z5 cameras look like terrible purchases, which is why they left them out of the video.
@@SunnySoCal Have you heard of commas? Periods? Good.
Elephant hiding in the room: IBIS!
The fact that the Z5 easily beat the RP without the mention of IBIS says a lot.
....on a Sony A7 ii for $600...
@XpycT I'm seeing the A7ii brand new for $900-$1000, where it has been for years on end. The A7iii is only $1500 right now. Z5 is a bad deal compared to the A7ii, let alone the A7Rii or the A7iii which both cost a similar amount. What beginner needs dual card slots? You're seriously reaching into the BS abyss.
@XpycT The A7ii is better for the money in the USA, where it 30% cheaper than it is for you. The Z5 will be a better camera but, again in the USA, it is $400 more expensive. When you add in the cost of basic prime lenses the Z5 ends up being at least $1000 more for a starter kit.
@@evrythingis1 If you're just starting out as, say, a wedding photographer, the Z5 makes a ton of sense. It's an affordable entry point into full frame. The main thing missing is uncropped 4K video, and plenty of couples would be just fine with 1080p video anyway.
DPReview is always on to the point, no bs, no waste of our time. Your channel deserves more than 1 mil subscribers.
Can't agree with you. DPR is good photography entertainment channel, but it have almost nothing to do with serious photography. It can help novice to get a clue, what happening in industry overall but professional phootgrapher would hardly find DPR anyhow reliable or useful, though it's a lot of fun to read and coment, that's what we all here for.
@@enco_m well i think they do extensive lab tests on camera and lenses, it's my go to site for iso tests and download raw samples. I don't see other "professionals" to show the same commitment on gear from all brands. Most of them focus on specific brand(s) they prefer.
@@VenomIIID iso/DR tests maybe only thing that DPR do which is really valuable. all other is mostly useless entertainment content. top notch entertainment content but nothing more

On youtube they're one of the few camera channels who cover all brands and seem to treat them all fairly.
Common guys, you did not even mention class leading IBIS.
My wife tells me that IBIS is for those with shaky hands.
@@robertfordjr.3507 "By night the atheist half believe god" what I mean to say is, your wife forgot to mention that when you have to shoot at extreme low light it would be better to drop the shutter speed than increase the ISO. That's where the IBIS could come to your rescue

@@iqbalrifqiprayoga6178 Yes better than Sony & on par with Canon's new mirrors less cameras. Sorry facts don't care about your feelings.
Let’s all give Nikon some love 💙
I own the Z5, awesome camera. Funny how it's been labelled an "entry level" camera, when it out shoots many pro DSLRs from not that long ago! Entry level on price, but not on functionality!
So it's been a minute since I bought a new camera, when did 1600 become entry? Unless they specifically mean entry level ff?
I bought the Nikon Z5 specifically for the second card slot and it to be my main camera body for weddings next to my Z6. And I’m telling you what you cannot tell the difference and photo quality. And as the one guy that responded to your reply right before me know $1600 is not entry level but these new cameras are not cheap anymore like the d3000 & d5000 series. You get a whole Lotta camera for $1300 that will take professional pictures but you can also take professional pictures with the cheaper series cameras also but without the newer features. But I got just the body for $1300 because I already have a couple Z lenses and the FTZ adapter. I was thinking about waiting for the new Z62 but the Z5 does everything I need it to and so does my Z6. I don’t mess with video or shoe sports I do mostly portraits so the Z5 is actually a better camera compared to the Z6 with two card slots and amazing image quality
@@GamerNxUSN Entry level for Full Frame Z System :)
@@LMActionsports I think the Z5 makes a ton of sense for wedding photographers.
@@danieldougan269 My nikon Z5 goes to all my paid work My nikon Z5 goes to all my paid work. As of the last wedding I had with the bride walking down to the altar the FPS was plenty for my needs. And in my opinion the z5's auto focus is snappier and finds the eyes and face much quicker then my z6 and gives you the option of switching from one eye to the other. This camera underrated
The z5 also has IBIS which is a big one. It's a fantastic camera for the money but in Europe I can pick up the z6 for £30 more so it's a tough sell.
Same here, the Z6 and the Z5 cost the same in Turkey. However, as someone who just had a SD card fail on me on a job, the importance of dual card slots is significant.
Nikon image quality is amazing and have Ibis 📷👍
The IBIS +video is a big factor in deciding which camera for me
i love the RP because i can pair it with the RF 35 Macro which is smaller, lighter, cheaper, optically good as the Z 35, and has Macro AND Stabilization. overall making the RP/RF 35 combo one of the lightest and most powerful and compact FF 35mm combos.
According to DPReview, in the 35mm macro features ghosting wide open.
@Apple Pear what are you talking about? The Nikkor 35mm Z is one of the sharpest lenses out there...
even the z50 can crush EOS RP image quality
@Apple Pear Which is better depends on the focal length (and probably weight) of the lens. Big, heavy stabilised lenses have stabilisation designed for the lens, and that will outperform IBIS. IBIS wins with wider lenses.
@@redsox7897 Last evening I found a bloke pointing his Sony A7 (I didn't ask which one) at a pretty meagre sunset. He had a pretty wide lens, I guess ultrawide or wide.
I showed him what I could do with my camera, and what he needed to get a similar effect with his.
"That must be a good camera," he said.
"Just an Olympus.*
Doesn't matter how good your camera is, if you don't know how to use it.
If Tony Northrup did this comparison, the Canon would have won in all categories!
Indeed. With the flippy screen had 100 point more than Nikon
The Northrups thought the 850 was the best camera ever (for about a month). Then it was Sony.
@@gwine9087 yea but that's when nikon were giving him demo models and incentives. Now he's cut off and hates nikon for it!
To be fair i personally would prefer ergonomics and auto focus of canon. It is very close and could go either way.
I haven't viewed his channel since around the launch of the Z6/Z7 and I am better for it there are much better channels around for gear reviews like this one and far better channels for photography.
Another excellent review. Best photography reviews on CZcams, IMO :-) The bits of humor you toss in here and there are fantastic! Well done guys!
For me, I just upgraded to the RP from my canon 200D and it’s a big improvement. I wanted to stick with canon, because I saved a lot of money as I already had lenses. Definitely the only thing I dislike is how many fps it shoots but it think it’s still enough and the price was great, $1999aud with an EF adaptor and came with a free 35mm 1.8 Lens as canon had a special deal on.
Just ordered the Nikon with the 24-200 kit. Super price. Looking forward to trying it out.
Had this combo for a year or so, the Z5 has great image quality, it's been totally reliable and am very pleased with it.
The 24-200 is great at some things, like architecture and landscapes and general outdoors stuff, but portraits and low light stuff is just OK.
Couldn't afford the better 'S' series 'Z' lenses, so I got the FTZ adapter and have bought a few, high quality 'F' series lenses second hand, and they're absolutely brilliant, work flawlessly, and their relatively cheap and plentiful.
This is the way to go, if you don't want to spend a fortune on top end lenses, even the 'DX' lenses work brilliantly with the adapter.
how much was it with the kit ?
I love my rp for an entry level full frame, but I would hope the z5 would win, as it is brand new, compared to a couple years old rp. I’m interested to see how canon follows up the rp for a new entry level full frame variation.
That A7S III was really jumping back and forth with AF during that segment around the 2 minute mark.
Right or was that intentional !? I was wondering if anybody else noticed that !
Reviewing Canon and Nikon head to head. Jordan “today’s episode is shot with Sony A7S iii”
Cracks me up lol
cuz sony is a video champ.
And definitely not an entry level camera
I would choose the 35mm 1.4 for full frames as my most versatile prime pick!
Nikon's have a way of punching way above their weight class. Me and my girl we both bought compact mirrorless full frames. I got the Z5 and she got the A7C. While almost costing twice as much as my Nikon, at least where we live, when we went out for some landscape photography, the Z5 quite surprisingly stood toe to toe and even outclassed the A7C in some aspects. I was overjoyed and she was plain jealous. Plus I feel the Z5 is better built and feels more natural and ergonomic compared to the A7C, not to mention perks like a superior EVF, superior IBIS & weather sealing and 2xUHS-II slots. It was to a point where she asked me If I wanted to swap camera's with her and I said 'FUCK NO!'.
We are getting married, so yeah, I had to swap cameras. The Auto Focus on this A7C is great though.
Wanted to share this story as your reviews helped me pick my camera! Cheers from India!
I was about to say “Lol Naaah you didnt fucking say that” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 congrats, though you probably need to stand your ground next time she asks you something like that. Maybe deny two or three more times before you fold 🤣🤣
thats hilarious
The Z5's autofocus performance was better than I expected (I expected Canon win this one) and leaves me hopeful that the Z6ii and Z7ii will equal the Canons and Sonys they compete with.
I can see even on the gimbal the A7S3’s wobbly IBIS is wobbling the edges of the image.
Nikon Z6 II?
Already pre-ordered mine!
I've been watching these guys since they did videos for The Camera Store and have been a subscriber for years. Great reviews, and previews of gear on its way to the market. Sign up! You can quickly learn a lot about cameras and lenses, and which might be the best fit for your needs and budget. Or, just become a gear nerd. :)
I bought the RP a few months ago when I found it at 950€ with the EF adapter. I wanted to try what is all about the full frame hype. Honestly, I still prefer my APSC Fuji X-T3, but I don't regret buying the Canon, at least I can use my EF lenses again...
Mee to: it might not sound like "a lot" but the RP is like 50% cheaper here in Europe and, as anyone who tired it can tell, the FTZ adapter SUCKS in a majestic way, while the EF to R is simply perfect. Looks like Nikon enjoys to shoot itself in the feet!
I'd be interested in the third part EF to Z adapter which I heard is almost like using native glasses and certain works better then the FTZ, but that would raise the price of the Z5 to R6 levels and that's nonsense.
In the end, if you have AF-S lenses to play with, the Z5 is a very good choice, but for any other user...
Well, Nikon is not the safest future proof decision I'd make...
Simply because of this I think that, despite being technically inferior (but also 2 years older), the RP is still the better choice fort the casual user, while for prosumer and professionals, well, look elsewhere in both cases.
The full frame hype is not about RP, sorry you missed your chance to experience it.
Ramon, you must be blind. My first fullframe camera experience was an ancient 5D classic(no kidding, I still own it), and i was blown absolutely away of the crisp portraits with the 50mm 1.8 lens. Now the RP must be way better than that.
@@dtibor5903 well the RP is a better camera but not necessarily produce better images. I don't own the original 5D but I heard that within its limitation the colours have a vibe and an quality that other 5D have lost, including the RP
If someone is using a camera for you tube content creation, I would still go with the Nikon Z5 as it wins over so many categories compared to RP. For indoors just add a small 5 inch monitor to check yourself for self vlogging or simply use the free phone app to connect the camera for vlogs. I would still pick this camera over a R10 that just came out. The Z5 is also a recommended camera for the small Zhiyun Crane M3 Handheld 3-Axis Stabilizer Gimbal. For a budget cam, and delivering pro quality photo and HD video (or 4K cropped) with in camera IBIS, Z5 is still hands down the winner at this price point for body.
Great video as allways guys. I was shocked to find that here in the UK, the RP is about £1220 (I thought it was around £1000). The Z5 is about £1400. Then there is the RP glass. There's not alot of native glass unless you have very, very deep pockets. Still I would be very happy to own either camera.
If you're OK with a grey import... £829 inc VAT at www.e-infin.com/uk/item/3829/canon_eos_rp_mirrorless_digital_camera_(body_only)
They're a reputable grey import outfit, but Canon probably won't repair it if you drop it. But at that price, I might take the chance. [Z5 and Z6 also pretty cheap there.]
With 30% higher price it is obvious that the Nikon Z5 is a better camera. What I admire with the Canon RP is that it broke the 1000$ barrier of a new full frame camera. That is very important. Because new full frame cameras were very expensive for the average amateur photographer.
Sony is selling full frame cameras much below 1000$ but these are very old models and their introductory price was over 1700$.
The Nikon Z series has a very short flange distance. With the Techart adapter the Z5 can use e-mount lenses without loosing autofocus.
In case there is a discount of Nikon Z5 during the Black Friday I will switch from e-mount to z mount.
What do you like more about the Z5 or Z6 than any of Sony's current offerings?
Evan Payton First of all there is no Sony camera with double memory slots with a lower price than that of Nikon Z5. Also Sony never launched a full frame camera with an introductory price below 1700$. While the introductory price of Canon RP was around 1000$ and that of Nikon Z5 around 1300$.
The Sony a7 of 2013 and a7II of 2014 are cheaper nowadays than Nikon Z5 but have inferior image sensors. Just check DXOmark comparisons.
At the end it is all about money. Otherwise everyone would buy the Sony a7R IV or the Sony A7S III or medium format mirrorless cameras. For its money the Nikon Z5 is great for amateurs.
Real professional can spent more than 5000$ for a camera body.
I love my Z5. Thanks for the review
For the money the Z5 is better value. It's clearly a better camera in all categories and has ibis. Nikons delivered a fantastic entry level camera.
12-2021 UPDATE - I sold my EOS RP this week after 2 years and 9 months of owning it. In my view it really didn't do anything very well, and the video performance was dismal. There are so many better options out there now at this price point, including ones with a smaller sensor. Sadly, after this experience, I'm no longer a Canon fan.
I would have liked to see the autofocus at 1080 comparison. Also performance with adapters on the older lenses. Thanks for the video.
I will be glad to see your reviews for video cameras like comodo, Zcam, ex...there is a lot to discuss there.
Nice review. Just bought the RP for 1,000 with the RF kit lens included, so you were right, it did went on sale.
When you compare these two cameras you realize how superior the Nikon is and how much it offers for the price. It’s an entry level camera you won’t grow out of that quick.
I disagree with a lot of this... now before you label me a "canon" lover just hold up. I am a canon shooter originally but I've used all brands. I found the RP to be a slick little camera. The autofocus was amazing along with the image quality I didn't really see any of the flaws that were mentioned here. Also last review when the RP first dropped I was told the dynamic range wasn't good on the RP and that turned out not to be true when I went out and used it for my landscape shoot. The only thing that sucks with the RP is the 4k crop and loss of dual pixel AND that viewfinder is trash. Other than that I might be getting an RP because I found it more than capable and a nice addition to my arsenal.
I love the Z5 body. I love the Z5 because lets me cage it. The Canon not so much. But in special projects I like the full articulated screen. The Canon RP is easy for me if I want to stay in the Canon system. Bargain race the RP is good. I want to wait for the Z series Nikon. I think the capability for me is edging me to Nikon. I shoot currently Canon and Sony. I have a history with Nikon too. Every Nikon camera has delighted me for years. I think Nikon in mirrorless is good. But Sony is where my video lives so far. Hoping a used Z6 or a bargain Z5 is in the mix. As a Sony a7iii is still on my RADAR.
Interesting comparison. My question is what is better for basic fire scene documentation? Everything I deal with is just a burned black room. I use a Nikon D7000 and can usually get the image I want, but it weighs a ton and I do alot of shoot and move. Looking for a lighter durable camera that can get the detail and depth of field from a pile of burned fire debris without switching constantly to multiple different lenses. Any edge on one of these cameras, or others to consider for this type of work?
Iam saving up money to go pro , i select the Z5 because i have only shot a bit of canon and Nikon , but when i saw the price difference in these
Canon RP is sold at approximately the same price as the Z50 here in India.
I wish you had compared IBIS systems to see which is better.
It's a sad day to see this channel forced to put in jarring interstitials to "Please subscribe!" Chris and Jordan, you've had my sub for almost a decade, you're the best hosts for this format on CZcams. Your corporate overlords are forcing you down a bad path. They're the ones that should be out advertising for subscribers. You guys are already your own best advertisement thanks to your reasoned analysis, high quality production, and personable nature. This is something that feels a cut above the rest of youtube, and to get a jarring break like that takes me right out of the viewing experience. FWIW, I'd rather you say "Nikon" like the Brits than the cringey "Japanese" way.
In good light the Eos RP loses in terms of dynamic range vs bargain bin D3400. So yes i'd say it's a bad camera period. Now the Z5 vs the Sony A7c. that is a more interesting comparison.
You can keep the d3400, I'll stick with the Rp, it's a great camera, especially with the simply awesome RF24-105L!!!
@@stephenpartridge686 You didn't get the point. A Fullframe enthusiast camera has to outperform bargain bin APSC camera's in image quality. If they don't they are a bad product period.
@@1barnet1 if you say so, I know how good it is with the RF24-105L on it, you can keep APSc if you wish....
@@1barnet1 You can have a narrower dynamic range and still have a better SNR within that range. That’s the case with the RP vs. the D3400. DR alone doesn’t tell you everything about image quality.
Not to mention that, yes, lenses are important too.
yes it is a full frame sensor but even the crop sensor in the z50 beat the FF sensor that is in the eos RP. Z5 worth $300 more.
I tend to agree but when I think of the added cost of trading out all of my Canon lenses, etc. it just is too costly for me.
@@gwine9087 I don't have anything against Canon and I shoot both Canon and Nikon. I don't see the point of this RP. I'd rather buy M6 mark II. It is better in low light and since it is a crop sensor camera the lens is smaller and lighter. I almost bought the M6 II with EF adapter because I have few Canon lenses that I can use with it. But the lack of EVF (unless you want to spend another $200 for the optional EVF) really put me off. The new M50 II specs also disappointed me. I never thought about the Z50 because of so many negative buzz about its AF performance from YT reviewers until I realized those review videos are mostly more than 6 month old so this AF problem has been addressed by Nikon in FW 2.02. I know how good Canon dual pixel AF performance because I use it and I can tell you this new FW update makes Z series AF performance that as good if not better than Canon dual pixel AF. Long story long I bought nikon Z50 and I don't regret it. With the FTZ adapter I can use all my Nikkor lenses. Win win solution for me.
@@gwine9087 Then you should get a Sony, which are better cameras that these two and you can use all of your Canon lenses on them...
@@evrythingis1 Well, kind of. I have seen several reviews that say that the autofocus is very unreliable using Canon and an adapter.
@@gwine9087 That was only true for their earliest cameras serveral years ago. With any Sony A7/R/S mark iii or newer camera, canon lenses perform even better than on their native DSLR.
Nice to see snow already
Unsubscribed and subscribed again, just to hear Chris say Nikon correctly (or sort of correcty, think he over did it a bit). Of course, if there are 10k new subscribers, there is a chance we won't see another Nikon review until 2022 but its a risk worth taking. :P
Very important so need to repeat: Z5 has IBIS! And I don't think people who are budget sensitive to choose the RP would consider Canon f2 zooms and f1.2 s good choices.
That series of shots tell a full story. Jordan is that dude in your class who runs with his shoulders rather than the normal way.
When can we be expecting the Z6ii and Z7ii reviews?
I am really satisfied with my RP as a day to day and a great (before and after the Corona pandemic) travel camera. I using it with EF EOS-R mount adapters for my big zoo of EF and EF-S lenses. So for me it is a great camera that fit all my needs for day to day and travel Foto graph you.
Awesome! The Nikon wiped the floor with that Canon RP. Rooting for Nikon to get back to the top of their game!!
Found an edge case where Z5's animal eye AF didn't work: Dalmatians. Z5 with the 24-50 kit lens, latest firmware. Set to wide area AF and AFC, and the eye AF point (yellow box) just jumped around all the black spots on my friend's Dalmatian looking for the eyes. Tried it with Tamron 24-70 G2 on the FTZ, no difference. Switched to human eye/face AF, also no help. Anyone with a Sony or a Canon AND a Dalmatian that can share their experience with those systems' animal eye AF? Thanks.
That’s hilarious
EVF in the Z series is beautiful. Nicer than the specs would lead you to believe.
Snowing already. It’s looks like winter but it is still autumn
It was an easy choice to pick up RP as my 2nd body since I already have R6 + a couple of RF lenses.
It is good to see Nikon Z6 II and Canon with R6 out be competitive cameras to the Sony A7 III. These cameras are similar enough that the Nikon and Canon will keep most of the legacy DSLR shooters that have not already switched to Sony. The ability to adapt the their DSLR glass the new Mirrorless bodies will hold them into that system. It will be interesting to see what else Nikon and Canon release in this lower price range. Sony is not competing here, the A7 II is too old and quirky.
When I look at reviews initially I was considering the Z5, but checking on the price around here, it's straight out of the equation. The price gap is enormous. Yes the Z5 is the least expensive in Nikon FF mirrorless line-up, but it offers much more capabilities that sellers priced it as much as the EOS R (which I can agree on tbh).
How do you skip the IBIS? Do you guys own Canon stock? The Nikon Z5 is a better camera and will add IBIS to many lenses with the adapter. That's the deal closer. The Canon is nice, but the Z5 is superior. IBIS matters. A LOT
Wow I wasn't subscribed but I watch these all the time. I am glad I can contribute to us hearing N'kon! all next year.
I always thought IBIS wouldn’t actually be THAT useful, so I can shoot at a slightly slower shutter speed, big deal ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but in practice it’s a massive feature. If you’re shooting in low light it allows you to get shots that you simply wouldn’t be able to without it.
Yes, having shot Olympus m43 for 8 years or so, I could never adapt to a camera without it. Tripod is used for long exposure night shots... ie. almost never. Every other low light or indoor is easy hand held.
Also it’s huge for video, IBIS is a game changer
Definitely love these comparison videos.... Keep them coming please....
Good review! Love the sparkles Jordan!! You guys sold out! Filming on the SONY, comparison review between Nikon & Cannon, what's up with that? Panasonic also has a all new entry level FF camera that's better than is better than both these combined, with the exception of AF. Although a bit more expensive at launch, I'm sure you will be doing new comparisons once you have your hands on one.
RP was born a year earlier, it was design to appeal entry level FF 2019, today brandnew price is 300 USD$ below the Z5, as mentioned above, if 300 USD$ just too big to spend more, then RP is the way for a new FF, but if 300 USD$ just okay, we will get a bunch more in Z5 as the King for brandnew Entry Level FF of 2020 (so far).
Everybody is ignoring the cost of switching systems. It's not just $300.
If $300 is to big to spend more then you should get a Sony A7ii and not even Consider the RP.
This case applied if both options are for brand new user, meaning never have the specific lenses before.
Black Friday deals on eos rp is crazy. 999 for body and 24-105 f4 kit lens and accessories like bag, sd card, filters. Similar specced lens with z5 body was above 1800 (that too with refurb lens)
Can someone explain why "photographers prefer a tilt-out screen"? I hear it all the time, not just here. In portrait orientation I use my fully articulating screen at sort of a 90 degree from the body angle to frame shots over my head and at ground level. Not like it's something I do once a year, I use this configuration daily. I can't imagine having a camera without it. What am I missing?
I like both. I prefer the tilt screen for ease of use, I just look down, tilt it however and shoot. With a flip screen, I have to open it, swivel it and shoot. It feels a little tedious and distracting but they both have their uses.
My favorite tilt screen was on the XT3.
Love your channel, the best reviews I have ever seen
Nikon wins for lenses. You even explained why in your video! These are entry level full frame cameras, so most people buying them are not interested in $2000+ pro lenses. Nikon has a much better lens selection for those on a more limited budget, plus the awesome 24-200 mm.
Dope Intro already but it's gonna be an outdoor video lol
The Nikon just came out and the canon was more expensive when it launched.. the rp is really one of the worst cameras that still can take decent images ..
What picture profile did you guys use to shoot this video on the A7S iii?
I hesitate between Fujifilm x-t4 ans Nikon z5..any advice?
I would also consider a low milage a7mkiii. They are available for around the same price and have a wider range of affordable glass .
I have the Z5 and with the FTZ adapter, affordable Nikon, Sigma, Tamron etc, 'F' and 'DX' glass is plentiful and work flawlessly.
Thanks for the great review. How do you compare the Z5 or Z50 to the new Fuji X-S10?
The Z5 reminds me a lot of Nikon's old warrior the D700. The Z5 in my opinion is above what DPreview viewed as " entry level"? It's much more by a large margin. The Z5 benefitted algorhytm and programming from the Z6! Remember...future continuous firnware update will make it even better
I dunno if it's just Jordan not used to using it as much but the footage on the A7S looks a lot worse than the Panasonic usual, even accounting for snow.
also canon says the RP is weather sealed. just an fyi :)
To the same degree as the 6D II.
When are you going to compare the Canon F1 and the Nikon F3 HP? I want to know how they stack up image quality wise.
Dual card slot, ibis... better battery life, better evf, better dynamic range in photos, better video autofocus at 4k.... the 300 dollar difference might be worth it for the Z5.
Depends, if you have invested in a few EF glass, not worth the change by far.
@@dtibor5903 somebody invested in either ecosystem don't have much reason to change
@@dtibor5903 you could always adapt EF glass on Z5, it surprisingly works well
For an entrylevelcamera, having the ability to get lenses without breaking the bank can be an important factor. I assume the Nikon lenses are cheaper?
Yes indeed they are
If you plan on moving up, you should consider which system you really want to go with and not just the cameras by themselves. Also, the RP's screen can be an AF "joystick."
@nigel_bd I actually just got the RP, and I'm really happy with it. I guess anything is better than a point-and-shoot. XD
Great as always. Comment for the algorithm.
Please tell me the production budget actually included sparklers.
The z5 all day. It has a better EVF, IBIS, a fully mechanical shutter that goes to 1/8000s, dual card slots, a full sized battery and weather sealing.
The Z5 has IBIS as well.
I didn't even realise I wasn't subscribed because the videos automatically comes up on my home screen.
You might have been subscribed once. YT sometimes unsubscribes you from
channels automatically for no apparent reason. I just realized that I got unsubscribes
from this channel.
I just can't afford those lenses luckily I own a lot of manual glass.. I don't think I can afford the Z5. Any opinions on the Z50 vs the rp Especially when it goes to Manuel glass
Big hopes for the Z6II. My only regret as a Nikon hybrid shooter is it doesn't backup video. Even if it backed up 1080 I'd have been happy. 👍
Ive been waiting for this comparison
1:21 A wild Pump It Up Prime 2 2017 cab appears! God I miss DDR/PIU so much, my legs are all squish from isolation these days
Nikon as a my first camera to learn, i learned a lot from D5200. Then i change it to eos M50 and hopefully i'm back to Z5 ❤
Nice video. Please, Lumix S5 vs Gh5.
why not Lumix S5 integrate in entry-level FF comparison?
Great comparison. Thank you
Wonder if they'll come out with an RPII next year?
The background of the last scenes (beginning at 05:57) is telling a lot...
Soon be back again at TCS-TV ?
How can you mention price without mentioning IBIS, Weather Sealing and Dual Card slots upfront big and bold? What?
would I be making a mistake if I purchase this as a novice?
Jordan, please don't start using the a7s iii for DPReview videos. The S1H and X-T4 footage look so much better in every way that matters.
DPreviewTV, you guys should do a Sony A7ii look back! It's by far the cheapest full frame mirrorless camera in India n I guess in most third world countries. It costs new about 70000/- to 80000/-(just shy of a 1000usd to 1088usd).
Aaaand also new and widely available? No...
Plus if you can get any other camera please do so, for $1088 USD it has bad sony colors, only shoots 1080p and that single card slot leaves alot to be desired. Plus the autofocus isn't the same as other more modern cameras so it will suffer in that department
Could you do a review of the Canon t8i? I think it'd be great to see what it offers through your videos or even one on your website! It'd be super helpful to beginners like myself torn between mirrorless and DSLR :)
How can you not mention IBIS on the Nikon? 😊
Looking forward to more "Nick-On" reviews
