12/31/1993...New's Eve for an 8th grader wasn't going to be too exciting but I sat down with my foster parents (from Chicago) and watched my first NHL game, Blackhawks vs the new Dallas Stars. They were fighting before the puck dropped (I didn't understand the old beefs from the North Star days but I didn't care) and the physical play continued throughout. I was then baptized a Stars fan for life. That game's highlights live on via CZcams and I revisit them often.
Stars are my number 1 sports favorite team. I'm 68, born and raised in Dallas and a Cowboys fan. But now they're my number 2 behind the stars. Followed by the Longhorns then the Rangers. Mavericks 5. Go go Stars !!!

The first Dallas Stars came to right in the middle of Cowboy Mania, when the Dallas Cowboys won their first of three Super Bowls
The Stars have earned their place in Dallas. Football and Cowboys may still be king; but come Hockey Season, Dallas turns green.
Greatest dport ever
Had there NOT been an NHL team in Dallas we would NOT have won the Stanley Cup six years later.
No doubt Dallas/North Texas deserved a NHL club by the early '90's. However it should have been an expansion club.
Who cares, they have a team and that's all that matters. Besides Minnesota got another team.
*duh duh* DALLAS *duh* STARS!
