      only for awhile, though. He sobered up after awhile. He had class, manners, everything. I know he wasn't perfect, but he was only human. We shouldn't judge because we would probably be judged ourselves, but his good qualities were amazing. He wasn't God anything, but he was a really decent man.

      +Al Tavers I had the pleasure of seeing Bowie in 83 for the serious moonlight tour. It was unusual in that their was no warm-up band. He just performed had an intermission and then played some more. A completely electric performer. The world lost one of the true greats.

      +Al Tavers - My friends mother saw him live and in the mid 70s no less, she said it was utterly mind blowing, she said it was like seeing God LOL! I can see it too, in those videos of him playing live in the 70s, the audience is basically going nuts. She said everyone in her class back then had Bowie notebooks, tee shirts, buttons, him and Elton John all the teen girls went nuts over. The boys went nuts for Led Zeppelin and what's crazy is tickets usually cost $6 to $10 bucks back then which is about $30 - $50 bucks in todays money. Imagine that, you could see Bowie or Zeppelin in their prime for $30 freakin bucks. What are concert tickets now for a big name? $150? And that's only if it isn't scalped.

    • @ex0duzz
      @ex0duzz Před rokem +6

      He was never fully truly mainstream.. He was always doing his own shit, in his own style. He set the trends, he never followed them. If he was mainstream it was because he found success and people made it mainstream after people liked and/or copied his unique style, making it mainstream after. Or rather, made it popular and a commercial success.

    • @IdontNeedaStupidHandleYoutube
      @IdontNeedaStupidHandleYoutube Před 4 měsíci

      You can't think of anyone with so much creativity and talent because there is no one. It's that simple. Simply making music was too easy for David. He had to invent personas and create performance art. Even that seemed easy for him. It's this simple: There has never been anyone close to him and there never will be. A truly unique genius.

    You're a great man David Bowie and while we'll miss you in this life, if we put our belief in Einstein, we know you are safe now and living free of illness in a different dimension. I really regret that I never saw you in concert, but you took us by surprise because you seemed so timeless and eternal......who could imagine that you could get old or sick? Thank you very much Ziggy and thank you David Bowie for sharing your rare talent through your amazingly futuristic music and movies.

    What stands out to me about Bowie as a performer is he was a master of what NOT to do when singing rock. Several things in this performance stand out as good examples. One is that he doesn't resort to trite, obvious gestures at certain points in the lyrics, like not grabbing his ass when singing the line "god given ass," or his crotch when saying "well hung and snow white tan." And at the very end when singing "Ziggy played...guitar" he could have extended the pause between played and guitar, goading the audience into applauding and acknowledging his singing, but he didn't. Maybe some in the audience need trite with their rock, and many performers happily go there, but not Bowie.

    • @cindchan
      @cindchan Před 8 lety +7

      +siskokidd He knew that the audience already knew the words. They didn't need illustrations. ;-) But yes, the man was a master performer. That's one of the things that makes he so enjoyable to watch!
