- Time-based effects like reverb and delay can add depth to your audio elements and improve your mix. However, what if you prefer to only hear an effect on a single guitar note, or a specific phrase on a vocal take?
In this tutorial, Joe Gilder demonstrates 3 different ways you can use effects precisely on specific moments in your Studio One sessions. Which one of these methods is your favorite?

I use something similar to method 3 but I automate the send level itself (the blue line under the send) so that I can send different amounts to the delay and get subtle control for example ramping up the send level or making the send have a slope that is very steep so that it is like flicking the fader for the send all the way up and then down again quickly good for dub stylee effects.
Great suggestion!! Thanks for sharing!
Was just about to say that
I use automation for making beats cutting high or low cut. So it spent sound the same the whole way along the beat rather than cutting it off. I also use the write feature and my aki mini mpc and mapping them to knobs.
They Add a Virtual Instrument Plugins as well as the Fl Studio fruity lsd And Out Midi and The MIDI File Tido is Type 0 Expand all of that please since it is very important nowadays.
Omg Joe! You saved my life with the "send mute" method 🤣 because I hate snipping the audio because it creates pops and clicks at the point where the audio is snipped even with cross fades enabled. Thanks Joe! 🙌
Can never go wrong with Presonus and Joe Gilder, simply the best !
Embarrassed I didn't know about the first thing you showed. This video was awesome. Thanks!!
No need to feel embarrassed! Always happy to help!
I love your tutorials more each second I breathe ❤
So happy these are helpful for you!
Got this song stuck in my head now. Thanks Joe.
😏
Thanks Joe! I like a hybrid of #2 and #3. Everything the same as #2 but put the mix to 100%. So the second audio track is basically a send, but it more straightforward to view/alter/experiment with in the arrangement view.
Appreciate that input! Lots of ways to do this!
I was just recently trying to figure out how to do this! Thanks Joe!!🤘🏼
Glad this helps! Happy creating!
Studio One has to be the best, great video
Thanks for the kind words! Happy you love the software!
Thanks Joe! Great instructions!
Happy to help!
Nice, I will be trying your 3rd and favorite method.
Let us know how it works for you!
Thx u joe I was trying all week to figure this out
Thanks Joe! I was just about to do something like this. However, when you duplicate a track, how do we make the volume sliders work independently? They always follow one another. 🤔
Perfect !
Literally just doing that now when I received your video notification.
Wow! Great timing!
@@presonus hey guys, can you please make a video on the "set root tab", "set tab here" or "new tab" under files. What do they do? I'm trying to find a way to access my favourite personal folders with kits and loops faster and easier and I think those options have something to do with it.
Very helpful. Thank you
I still wish there was a popup window for adding your favorite inserts like FL Studio has
Awesome video, great workflow tip!
Thanks Joe..Been trying to do that first method for a long time cos it works best for me in cubase, so was trying to find a way to do that also on studio one ....What Mic is that please ?
Hmm... I like that separation technique, but selecting and double-clicking does not work for me to separate the region from the rest of the take. Is there a setting you need to set to make that work? (I'm using Version 5)
I have a question, cant we do the last trick without adding a fx channel, like directly adding effect on the main audio and automate it?
Very cool 😎
melodyne return to stop position not working . please fix it by update.
AWESOME!
Glad you like it!
A plus I needed this
Always happy to help!
Hello Joe , If you duplicate a track you CANNOT treat them differently, because the same settings of the track are copied. For example the EQ. If you change it to the one track, the same change is going to be reflected to the other track. To solve the problem is ALWAYS BETTER TO DUPLICATE COMPLETE.
when using this method and using melodyne, a click appears, I do not advise, it is better to make this a separate channel the old-fashioned way
Interesting, thank you, I'll be watching out for this click
hey im having problems to activate my studio one artist on my windows 11, cans some one help me out?
