I love the fact that you can change the speeds on this. I was hoping shimano would have done the same when they bought 12 speed out so I could upgrade my bike by only getting a new chain and cassette but nope. I reckon they could definitely do this easy with a firmware update.

@@galenkehler Simple. AXS is wireless. Archer uses cables to pull the derailleur, just like conventional shifting. It’s just a gimmick. Instead of running a long cable from shifter to derailleur, Archer runs it from a motor attached awkwardly on the chainstay. Reviews have said the shifting is slower than pre-Archer upgrade, but I can’t even call it an upgrade. A lot of Archer fans will get butt hurt over my comment but it is the truth of the matter.

I won't ever buy SRAM again because of how they treated the people that already owned their Red groupset. I had full eTap red and when I bought it it came with a USB stick supposedly to be used for upgrades. Never did get to use it but I'm sure I paid for it. Then SRAM introduced their 12 speed but they Ef'd up even more by making the chain, sprockets, and shifting proprietary so that it did not conform to the standards on the market. You cannot use a Shimano chain or cassette if you was in a pinch and can only use SRAM's components. People say there are 3 major brands in the market to choose from but IMO there are only two because for me SRAM will never be an option. Thank you for this video and clearing up the mis information others are spreading. I hope everyone gets a chance to find this. You are a true brother to cyclists.

I just installed this groupset on my bike and so far it is amazing. Not sure about long term reliability and durability, I guess I will find out. I am aware there is a risk, but I am fed up of the big brands trying to push us into upgrading e.g. new cables and systems to go from 11 speed di2 to 12 speed di2, no rim brake for new systems, etc. If Wheeltop can sustain and refine this groupset, it will be a success as it anyone would be able to upgrade their old, forgotten by the big brands drivetrains to whatever speed folks want. I think it's a genius product idea, let's see if it works. Another angle, with this groupset, now I can upgrade my 11 speed bike to 12 speed by simply changing the cassette and chain.

Love that you have the balls to call Sram's (and Shimano + many others, imo) design decisions 'disgusting'.
As an old cyclist who likes to tinker, the modern stuff, designed to not be cross compatible, not even compatible with parts of a year or two old of the same brand, I too find disgusting. Take the front derailers for instance that do not leave enough clearance for wider tires...so many examples to list.
They have sucked the fun out of cycling. Support the smaller brands, if those brands have a fair business model, providing their products are good enough, of course.
Let's hurt the big greedy brands, teach them a lesson. The customer holds the power. Don't give them your money, their stuff is way over priced, over hyped and do not last..

I think what were seeing here is the same phenomenon as we saw with Japanese car production.
Toyota and Nissan (as Datsun*) tried to enter the North American market with cheap small cars, then went on to progressively take more and more market share and become dominant in certain segment.
I think Shimano abandoned the road mechanical groupsets because they knew what was coming in this segment of the market. But if Chinese brands start to get into electronic groupsets, Shimano and Sram might be in for a rough ride in 10 years from now. As for Campagnolo, well people buying Campy won't certainly be seen going "as low" as buying Chinese.**
*Nissan created the Datsun brand because they were afraid that the experience might killed Nissan's brand name reputation.
** Campagnolo is like US car brand Buick. They loose their market share each time one of their old customer dies.

Hello dear friend, glad to see you in good health. Regarding new brands, I have recently been looking for this brand since I watched your video again, and I do not want to overpay for a thing of $ 2000, the cost of which is $ 20 in production, I am glad that there are companies that kick Shimano and SRAM. I wrote to the website of this manufacturer and wanted to find out if they have a kit for road bikes, I wrote a couple of days ago, but I haven't heard an answer yet. apparently I won't hear it. they usually don't pay attention to the townsfolk, so I wanted you to try to find out if these guys will produce group sets for road bikes. thank you for the video and take care of yourself!!!!

Doddy has been my favourite GMBN presenter but he sure failed to do his fair share of research. To be fair, it was probably some intern script writer trying to concoct some eye-grabbing headline.

Another thing happening in China is since large companies get things manufactured there, they make 50-100% more than the order and sell them out the back door later for half the price, yet it's the same thing. But the counterfeit stuff there is pretty broad, and yet they have some real gems. But for Chinese, I love Yoleo but they are not selling on Ali, and no one is trying to copy them because there would be hell to pay.
Some of the counterfeit stuff like the Pinerallo's they sell for a couple grand, those are actually very very nice bikes and much cheaper, but still about 3,000 Canadian. But still riding my 1986 Miyata 310, that would be nice for my now 8 speed freewheel that started out as a 6 speed 105 Grupo when it was made.

Doddy's video was 100% click bait and showed his bias on Chinese / asian manufacturers imo - the following gmbn 'dirt shed show' they were talking about SRAM / Fox law suits and copying, he had a completely different attitude.
As you say either he'd done some very poor research, considering he's had a very long career in cycling journalism I doubt this, or it was 100% click bait.

Patent "hoarding" in the bike industry ultimately hurts the consumer. It limits their choices and stifles development. Virtually all patents in the bike industry are so weak, they aren't worth the paper they are printed on. But the problem is, lawyers. Shimano could EASILY beat most of the SRAM patents on wireless. But it would be tied up in the courts until the patent expires naturally. That is the strategy of both of these greedy companies. Patent anything and everything, just to block the competitor. So now we have the tragic situation where the only competition is coming from China, because they do not respect international patent laws. They are kind of crap now, but in a couple years, they will be as good or better than SRAM/Shimano and at a fraction of the cost. So this patent hoarding policy is going to bite them in the arse hard.

being able to select cassette size is interesting...but wasn't shifting ratio of cassettes particular to the manufacturer? for example a shimano 12 speed shift ratio is different than sram, how does the EDS system know this or can it be changed by the app?

How big is on a bike? how much its protruding outside bike silhouette. I saw my friend's GX AXS recently and it's terribly big (comparing to shimano, or even mechanical sram - which is quite big as well), i'd hit rocks with it few times per ride :/

that idea is sooo cool. I have now first di2 10 speed, it works flawlessly. The problem is that if I broke rear derailleur finding the replacement is a huge challenge. I should be able to buy new di2 thing and setup it like this. In a few years time a failure of one component will force me to replace the whole system. That's a huge waste.

i love how electronic shifting removes the cable, makes shifting effortless, quick and precise, and also potentially fixes compatibility/number of speeds/pull ratio etc, all at once with just some software.
I'll wait for it to become more affordable though, and to actually have a reason to replace my deore XT 1x11

I believe that the patent system is just systemic corruption. I as a small time technologist could literally build a niche company off of thousands of unused patents that mega corporations own. These companies have full time R&D staff who develop the ideas and technologies, then apply for and get awarded these patents. Then these patents never see the light of day. Why should I even attempt to build an R&D company these days?!
