Which is part of the reason why that quote is so significant in the episode. It's also pretty much the main theme of both Volume 4 and 5 since it's been about getting over what happened at Beacon and preventing it from happening elsewhere. And the promise Adam was referring to is his promise in Chapter 11 of Volume 3 where he promised to basically kill everyone she cares about or anyone that comes between her and him. Because calling him "Blake's creepy, abusive ex" is fucking understatement of the century.
