I've been riding around with a broken handle for I don't want to say how long and the cap was missing when I bought the truck. Bought the part on Amazon. Watched your video. Install took five minutes. I will say that the red tab was on the left on my original assembly and the assembly from Amazon, the red was on the left as well. So I left it in that configuration. Thank you so much for this video!!!!

Just was finding out how to take off the cover, the right rod in my tailgate had popped off and I can now confirm without anything even being broken. But you said the red and green were on the wrong sides because it is aftermarket, mine is NOT aftermarket and are also that way. This is the first time I've had any issue with it so am curious if it may be different sometimes on purpose?
How did you put those top two bolts
Am I able to open my tailgate if my actual handle is broken? It snapped completely off on me and it's cold 🥶 outside
What size bolts and where can I find them
What size are the bolts. Mines are missing
My tailgate latch is stuck in the open position so the tailgate is down. My latch is rusted out so it's due to be replaced. The company who rhino lined my bed sprayed over the 3 bolts. Guess I'll need to uncover those bolts.

I ordered a new handle and I didn’t know the cover didn’t come with it! That shit pissed me off.
My 95 Silverado tailgate doesn't work,have to open with pliers,the cables are attached but don't work,do I change the cables too?ty

lol has anyone successfully removed the dang bezel without snapping the clips? just tried on mine and they snapped off like nothin..
my handle didn't even come with sticky tape. it has the foam pieces but they're no stick at all to them

My 2006 Silverado had the red clip on the drivers side and the green clip on the passenger side.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if somebody really wanted that tailgate and they were quick all they would have to do is pop off the trim ring and they have access to the rods. you would think the manufacturer would somehow incorporate the trim ring to the actual handle so that could not happen.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if somebody wanted the tailgate, why wouldn't they just lift the handle and open the tailgate? Then unhook the support cables, lift the right side out, and then swing the left side out of the hinge! You can take a tailgate off in about 15 - 20 seconds. It's not like they have a lock. Is there a lot of tailgate swiping where you are? On my Sierra, the hard tonneau sits over the top of the tailgate, and that keeps it from being opened.
What year is this truck. I have a 2001 that I can't seem to get the clips for.
Amazon.com has them for sale for $7.00 for a bag of ten of them. Five green, and five red. Way cheaper than buying through a GM dealership.
They work quite fine, I've had good luck with the aftermarket ones, I think they are every bit as good as what GM sells.
